Chapter 29

Aurora's POV

I basically forced Wes to let Thomas spent the night with me. At the moment he was fragile and put his trust in only me. I led him to my address and told him to come here at eleven when Ronin went to the gym.

Now it was 10:56 and Thomas still hasn't woken up. I sat by the bed and played with his hair at the same time that the doorbell rang.

I sigh, getting up to open the door and sure enough, Wes stands in front of me.

His face was stern as I smiled and I sighed letting him in.

"Where's Thomas?" He asked immediately.

"Sleeping."

"But its 1:25." He says incredulously and I shrugged.

"He's been through a lot," I state suggestively and he glares.

"Are you saying that I don't take care of my child? How hypothetical." He scoffs.

"If you did he would be in this situation." I retort and he tilts his head.

"Why are you speaking like you've been there for him? You left two years ago. Remember?" He says and I purse my lips.

"Is there something you wanted to talk about Mr. Roman."

"Nothing really, just wondering how you've been." He smiles sarcastically and I grit my teeth. "Obviously you're doing great. Clinching onto your brother's money as you did mine."

"Excuse me? I never asked you for anything." I snap, feeling offended and he shrugs.

"You didn't have to ask, it was written all over your face."

"If you're just going to be rude, I suggest you leave."

"I'll be leaving. In four days though so we have some time." He crosses his arms and I raise an eyebrow.

"Some time?"

"Why'd you leave two years ago Aurora?" He asks taking a step towards me and I roll my eyes.

"I told you why."

"Why'd you even lie in the first place?"

"I didn't want you to feel sorry for me or that you would have to bear my baggage. I explained this."

"That's a stupid reason to leave the man that actually gave a shit about you." He snaps angrily. "I basically saved your life. If it wasn't for me you would be at the bottom of the ocean, your skeleton chained to an anchor."

"I know that." I run my hands through my hair looking around.

"So why would you stupidly lie to me? And that's not what's bothering me the most. You make up this lame excuse to leave me but I know what's going on." He raises an eyebrow at me. "You're afraid. You're in love with me and you're afraid of getting hurt. You didn't trust me, and you weren't ready to say love yet. I was, but you weren't. You acted on impulse and you ended up crashing."

I gape as he pulls out all the facts.

"Wes... "

"And instead of talking to me." He paces the room slowly. "You leave. You leave me and Thomas hanging like we never meant a thing. You're a coward Aurora."

I feel tears well up in my eyes as he hits me with the truth.

"Alright! I get it. I don't know what you want me to say. ." I whisper and he shakes my head.

"Don't say anything. Just lead me to my son. I'm done okay? That whole fiance thing was only to win over a company but either way, I still get hurt. So here it is. No more begging, no more heartbreaks." His face is hard and I bite my lip as I walk towards the room Thomas was sleeping in. He gently picks up his son and walks out without a second glance. As soon as the door shuts close, I walk towards the couch and plop down on it. I drop my hands into my face and sob.

I thought I was over him.

Over this.

I guess I wasn't.
