Chapter 30 Chapter Thirty

Chapter 30 Chapter Thirty
Chapter Thirty

             Mirah

His anger from earlier on hadn't simmered down. From the corner of my eye, I saw his hold on the steering wheel tighten.

“Please, Mirah,” He begged in a voice that was a far-cry from the Zeke I knew. For a moment my heart went out to him. But the image of him holding Darcel flashed through my mind.

“I don't want to exchange words with you, Prince Ezekiel. If you can't drive, we can switch places.” I avoided his gaze.

A look at him would be all it'd take to crash the fragile front I was putting on. The calm voice I was using to speak. My rein on my emotions.

Everything.

If I hadn't realized it before, I did now. This man had hurt me. Made me cry. But Lord help me, because I knew I loved him. Because I knew despite my cold attitude, if he sincerely apologized, I was willing to overlook the fact that he had a fiancèe. That realization alone sent chills down my spine.

“I want to take you somewhere.” He looked at me, waiting for my consent. Emotions swirled in his eyes, and I quickly turned away.

“Why did you come?” I asked, as an awkward silence filled the air.

I felt him lean in close to me. My breath caught in my throat. That familiar scent of pine and the sea. That smell of…him. I didn't move, for the fear that I'd bump into him if I did. When I felt his finger brush against my neck, it was all it took not to sigh in need. I'd craved his touch, for Lord knew how long. A reprimand was at the tip of my tongue when I turned, but the furious look on his face, put a hold on it.

“Did he do this to you?” He asked, and I felt the temperature in the car go down a few degrees. My hand subconsciously went up to my neck, unintentionally brushing against his. Our breaths caught at the same moment, and something more than electricity sparked between us. The spot he was talking about was where Jayden hit me when he'd returned from the office some days ago. He'd been ranting about a random man who'd attacked him at a cafè. And he'd taken it out on me.

“Yes.” The answer was out before I could stop it.

He pushed open the door to the car, and made to go out. Instincts kicked in, and I wrapped my arms around his waist.

“It's enough, Zeke. You've punished him enough.” His warmth seared into my skin, sending my core pulsating with need.

He froze, but didn't pull away.

A hint of embarrassment tinted my cheeks. Even while I'd been hurt by my parents, I still had their best interests in heart. Jayden knew Zeke had come to carry me. If he was hurt any further, my family would suffer the repercussions. And deep down, I didn't want that to happen. After what seemed like eternity, Zeke finally got into the car, and relaxed on the driver seat. His hand strayed down to my wrist, and grabbed it gently. He wasn't looking, and I didn't pull away.

“He deserves to die.” He muttered, after a while.

“Are you married now?” I asked, and he flinched. I didn't see any ring on his finger, but I didn't know how vampires conducted their wedding. He started the ignition without a word, and we drove out of Jayden's estate. Clouds loomed on the sky, evidence of an impending rainfall. I closed my eyes, willing myself to stop thinking of a vampire prince, with cold eyes.

It didn't work. Moments later, I opened my eyes and stole a glance at him. From the side view, he looked like something out of a fairytale. Too handsome.

His Adam apple bobbed, and I turned away quickly, looking out of the window this time. We continued driving for a while, until we were well out of Vermont. A path stretched through thick dense trees that led to Weasels. As the large archway came into view, I subconsciously clench my fist. He slowed down, and steered us through it.

“Where are we going?” I asked, when he didn't take the route that led to the castle. A ghost of a smile covered his face.

“It's a surprise.” Then he focused on the road again.

I nodded, and relaxed. But I didn't tell him that we weren't close enough for him to give me a surprise. The route soon stretched to lots of stony paths. He drove through the many zigzags, until we arrived at the foot of a cliff. He got down, rounded to the passenger door, and pulled it open.

I got down without a word. “Where's this place?” I asked, looking around.

It was now dark, characteristic of Weasels. The cliff itself wasn't high, but enough to cause pants whilst climbing. He scooped me into his arms, hesitating a little.

“It's fine.” I sighed.

He nodded, and flew upwards. Once we got to the top, he let me down slowly. My jaw unhinged as I looked around.

“Wow,” I mouthed. Stars scattered across the sky, twinkles creating a beautiful sight. I swallowed, ignoring his warmth behind me.

Not saying a word about his arousal which pressed against my ass, I moved away. “This is beautiful.” I smiled, even though he couldn't see it.

“But-” I turned to him. “Why did you bring me here? Should we be doing this? Bringing me to a cliff? Or the two of us in one place?” I shot at him.

He winced. “I figured you'd appreciate the sight.” He explained.

“I appreciate the sight, all right. What I don't appreciate is how you made a fool of me.” I snapped.

He stiffened. “I didn't -” I cut him off, by raising my hand.

“Let me speak. Why didn't you tell me you had a fiancèe?” I asked him.

“She-” He began, looking straight into my eyes. The intensity of his stare burned through me. I could feel it everywhere.

On my breasts. My cunt. My ass.

“You have nothing to say, do you?” I prompted, but he said nothing.

The pain in his eyes- genuine or not, mirrored mine. My eyes glistened with tears, and my voice cracked.

“I should go.” I muttered, and trod towards the car. He pulled me back into his arms, but I shrugged off almost immediately.
