Chapter 132 THE PUPPER KING RISES.
ELDRIC'S POINT OF VIEW.
I laughed as I clutched the papers in my hands; the very ones that would get me all I’ve been working towards since I married that bitch, Alicia, years ago. “Hello, Governor, yes. I am on my way.” I said, before hanging up.
Before I could take any step further, my phone dinged with a notification: “Sir, should I proceed with the plan?” The message read, and I heaved a sigh of relief.
Finally.
I’m rid of that bastard seed of Alicia.
‘Yes.’
I texted back to the assassin I hired to kill Lucien. There is no room for loose ends. If Lucien had to die for me to take over everything without a hitch, I would kill him without hesitation.
I grabbed one of his car keys and made my way to the garage. Ever since I got my hands on these papers, a smile has remained on my face. This is what I’ve been chasing all this time. To become the king, I thought I would be after I married Alicia. To raise the Hayes name and make myself somebody the world would remember.
I should hate Alicia more than I actually do. She caused all this. Had she just been the perfect stupid wife and stayed home as I commanded, so I could run the company, this would never have happened. All I needed was her consent and her to sign a few damn papers, but she refused, stating that it wasn’t right, and her parents wouldn’t allow it. The bitch lied to my fucking face.
Because she was the largest shareholder at Ravenscroft Group. If she truly wanted me to rule, she would have let me. But instead, she was comfortable with me being her fucking inferior; she wanted me, the head of the home! To just what….take orders from a woman?
I’m a man! As a leader, I do not take orders from women, and not especially my wife.
I raced to the Governor's house, my heart pounding with excitement over all that would happen. At this time, the assassin would advance on Lucien and take him out by making it look like some horrible murder committed by a crazy homeless person, while I, on the other hand….I would become the king I was born to be overnight.
Imagine that, a scholarship kid rising to the highest ranks in the world.
It was the poetic justice the world desperately needed. I parked the car slowly and rushed out without even turning the ignition off. I was too excited. The board of directors, who were on my side after I paid a hefty sum to them, awaited me inside as well.
Of course, since my bastard son fails to give me money, I had to steal some of Alicia’s jewellery and sell them to make some money. My blood burned at the thought of my wife again. I fucking hated her.
“Ah, Eldric.” The governor said, his arms stretched in a hugging fashion. He placed his glass of vodka on the table and walked over to me. “Good to see you.” He said, and ic caught a whiff of smoke on his breath. The bastard couldn’t stop smoking to save his damn life.
“It's good to see you, too,” I responded. “Good to see all of you, actually,” I added, taking a seat on the throne-like chair. My hands shook slightly from the force of my joy as the file in my hand containing the papers assuring my kingship stared back at me.
“Did you bring it?” One of the directors asked, her face directly in my line of vision. I hated her, not because she did anything to me, but because she was a woman. How dare she occupy such a portion made for men?
She also reminded me of Alicia… for some reason, her blonde hair, which was cut into a bob, her blue eyes hidden behind her glasses, made me feel like I’d seen her from somewhere. She haunted my dreams, looking like the woman I’d killed off years ago.
But Alicia was dead… and she would never return.
“Of course, I did,” I said instead of the profanities at the tip of my tongue. I shoved the file towards her and watched as she opened the file slowly. All I itched to do was grab it from her hands and give it to the man beside me, but I needed her to approve it, or I would never become king.
Her eyes looked over the contents of the file, her lips pursed as she flipped the pages. It felt like she’d been looking at it for weeks, as my skin pulled taut. All I wanted to do was snatch it from her, whack her in the head, and ask her why the hell she wasn’t with her husband and children like a good wife.
“This looks alright… although the signature is forged.” She said, making me roll my eyes.
Captain obvious much, you stupid cunt.
“Yes, it is,” I said instead, my jaw tight as I clenched my teeth. “That was the plan, to get the signature by any means necessary, even if it was fake. Besides, it doesn’t matter. If all of you, the majority board members, approve of it, I could become Chief Executive Officer without a hitch.” I said, but she looked at me with an unsure expression.
“And what about Lucien…..? What becomes of him? What if he comes for you?” She asked, and this time, I visibly rolled my eyes at her stupidity.
Do all women not fucking think?
This was why I would always believe women were better at fucking than being bosses.
“I already worked on that,” I said, my eyes glancing at my watch…..Lucien’s watch, to be honest, but it was fucking mine now. “As we speak, my man is making the move to ensure he’s dead. It will be perfect. Lucien will die, and I can get what’s rightfully mine.”
“But it isn’t yours. At least not rightfully or biologically.” She said. My face fell as I gritted my teeth in anger. Who the hell was this bitch?!
My hands itched again, and all I wanted to do was bang her head against the table.
“It originally belongs to the Ravenscroft family, and even by marriage, you’re not a Ravenscroft. Your last name is Hayes, isn’t it?” She said, a snarky smile on her face as she pulled her glasses off her face. “You got married to Alicia, thinking you would get all that belonged to her by simply being her husband. But imagine your shock when you realised that nothing would be yours.” She laughed, her cackle felt like acid on open wounds as the memory of it all pulled like a fresh sore. “And when you realised that nothing would be yours, instead of being a fucking man, and thinking with your head, and not that fragile ego of yours, you decided to become an abusive bastard.
You tormented the poor woman up until she fell terminally ill…or rather,” She paused, bending low so she was at eye level with me. “You had her poisoned for years, and continued to feed her the poison until her body couldn’t fight it anymore, and she died.” My eyes widened… how did she??
I thought no one but me knew…..I killed the fucking doctor….I made sure there were no loose ends for fucks sake.
I rose to my feet abruptly, the chair falling back from how fast I did. “I will not take your false accusations lightly!” I yelled in her face, my hands shaking as I tried to restrain myself from slapping the shit out of her.
“False? Oh, please.” She said with a scoff, getting in my face and staring me in the eye. Was she not going to back down?
Everyone here fucking knows it, and you know what’ll happen now, Eldric?” She said with a wide smile, like she was offering me the kingdom I so rightfully deserved.
“You’re going to pay for it all.”
