Chapter 81: Your Voice is Disgusting
"Sophia! It's you!"
Chase stared wide-eyed at the person in the car, unable to believe what he was seeing.
The other two couldn't sit still either. Emily lunged forward with claws out.
Before she could even touch the door handle, she was stopped by the two security guards Sophia had brought with her.
"Sophia, you bitch! How dare you show up here!"
She screamed at the top of her lungs, her eyes bloodshot with rage, as if she wanted to tear Sophia to pieces.
"Why wouldn't I dare show up?"
Sophia said softly, her gaze taking in the faces of her enemies.
Her hands, hidden in her sleeves, itched to strangle these people herself, but that death would be too easy for them.
Chase rushed forward in a rage, his eyes sharp and threatening.
"What are you doing here! Don't think you can do whatever you want just because the Mitchell family has your back. From what I know, your situation in the Mitchell family isn't that great either!"
To say this so confidently, there was clearly something going on behind the scenes.
There were quite a few maids in the villa. Usually, Sophia focused her time and attention on work, so she had been careless about this.
Plenty of spies had been planted in the house—she just didn't know whose people they were.
Sophia's expression didn't change. The slight smile on her lips and her calm demeanor actually made people afraid.
"Chase, if you really think that, then why are you so nervous?"
She paused, then walked straight to the front door.
The security guards at the entrance wanted to stop her, but they looked at each other, not daring to move forward.
They glanced sideways at Chase, waiting for his next instruction, each of them thinking of backing down.
Others might not know, but they were well aware that Sophia had once been labeled as insane and locked up at home, never seeing daylight.
Now she had escaped and returned, looking so impressive—clearly not someone to mess with. If they provoked her, who knew what revenge she might take?
"Sophia, acting all high and mighty! You really think the Mitchell family wants to protect you? It's only the child in your belly keeping you alive—otherwise you'd have died a thousand times already!"
Hearing Chase's frantic voice, Sophia threw her head back and laughed, completely unlike her usual calm self.
"Sophia, what are you laughing at!"
Emily shouted. If it weren't for the security guards Sophia brought blocking her, she would have rushed forward like a mad dog by now.
The laughter stopped abruptly.
Looking at these beasts in human form before her, Sophia felt nothing but disgust.
"Looks like Chase isn't planning to invite me in for a proper chat."
"I have nothing to chat with you about. Get out of my house right now! And never appear in front of me again!"
Such righteous words—he really thought he was something special!
"Chase, I think you've forgotten that right now you're just someone else's dog too!"
Chase's turning foot stopped. Shock flashed in his eyes, quickly turning to anger.
His face full of rage, he turned around and glared at Sophia.
"I should have killed you when I adopted you!"
Hearing this, Sophia sneered with disdain and swaggered forward.
"Too bad. Your chance is gone."
The two sides faced off, Sophia's eyes showing no fear. She was no longer who she used to be.
Glancing to the side, Emily's eyes were full of hatred that seemed ready to drown her, but Sophia didn't take her seriously either.
"Since I'm here, I won't beat around the bush with you."
"The explosives on the cruise ship—did you plant them?"
The question fell like thunder among the crowd. You could hear a pin drop.
Chase, who had been so aggressive just moments ago, suddenly lost his fire. His face went cold, and he seemed frozen in place.
Sophia's eyes stared at him unblinking.
"What do you mean by that! Would I harm my own family? Sophia, I know you miss your family, but that disaster was an accident. Even the news reported it that way. How could there be any hidden story? I think you're just imagining enemies."
Chase's tone suddenly became gentle, like an adult trying to reason with their child.
The sudden change in attitude made Sophia sick to her stomach. Unable to hold it back.
Everything she'd eaten that morning came up and splattered in the courtyard.
"Sophia! You crazy person! You deliberately threw up at my house!"
Emily jumped up and down anxiously, wanting to attack, but held back firmly.
The others' faces looked terrible. This had happened too suddenly.
"Sophia, you—!"
As soon as Emily spoke, it was like flipping a switch in Sophia's body—the nausea came back.
She was close to Emily, leaning forward and nearly throwing up on her.
Emily's whole body trembled, unable to say a word.
Her eyes met Sophia's with panic and unease. She had never suffered such humiliation in her entire life—it was an insult!
"Stop shouting. Every time you shout, I want to throw up. Your voice is too disgusting."
Hearing this, Emily raised her hand, trembling as she pointed at Sophia, unable to speak clearly.
After Sophia finished rinsing her mouth, she didn't even glance at Emily.
"Chase, do you think I won't investigate just because you won't talk?"
"How outrageous! How dare you insult your elders like this!"
Watching Chase jump around, she found it laughable and ridiculous.
"Elder? What kind of elder are you? I'm asking you one more time—who's the person behind you?"
Sophia stared at him without blinking.
Just those eyes made Chase afraid. Those eyes looked too much like a certain someone.
He raised his voice, trying to scare Sophia away with this method.
"What person? Sophia, stop making a scene here. This isn't the place for your tantrums. Throw her out!"
At his command, the security guards looked at each other and rushed forward.
Then came the sound of the business van door opening. One after another, men in black got out of the car.
Seven or eight people stood in front of Sophia—just looking at them was intimidating.
"Sophia, you wouldn't dare!"
Hearing these people shouting, Sophia didn't want to bother with them. She raised her hand slightly, and everyone behind her rushed forward.
They grabbed Chase and the others.
Sophia walked up to them step by step, looking down at him.
"Who is the person behind you?"
Chase clenched his jaw, refusing to say a word.
"Won't talk? Chase, have you forgotten how you locked me in the basement before? How about you try it yourself?"
As she finished speaking, Sophia raised her hand to drag him away.
Suddenly, the sound of urgent braking came from outside.
"What's going on today with so many people? Mr. Brown, I've never seen your house this crowded before!"
The speaker walked in from the main entrance. Though there was a smile on his face, his eyes were ice cold.
This person was clearly a foreigner. Sophia had never seen him before. What was his relationship with Chase?
"Mr. Montes!"
Seeing him, Chase looked like he'd seen his savior.
Could this person have an unusual relationship with him?
