Chapter 12: Attempt

Throughout the time working I was praying that Arina's ridiculously long skirt makes her fall. The ingredients were only able to make five healing potions, proof that I was right. I decided to take a walk and leave Arina's den to clear my head. I hate the feeling of being used and being trapped here to the point where I ran, I started to run without thinking about the consequences. This may be reckless but maybe the warewolves that are patrolling the forest won't expect me so I'll have a chance, maybe there are no warewolves at all and Zik was lying. Everything happened so fast, I suddenly felt my feet lose touch with the ground and my back crashed painfully against a tree. I could tell that I was going to pass out but with my blurry vision I looked around for anything that could explain what happened. I gasped when seeing a black werewolf approaching, I could've been imagining it but it looked like it was smiling with its sharp hideous teeth...

"Look at her Maya does she look fine?..

"I don't care how she looks, she was escaping so I did what I had to do to stop her!..

"You could've stopped her without hurting her and Vale, he isn't going to like this..

"Vale is going to be happy that I made her not escape, he doesn't care if she's hurt or not!..

"Okay then how is she going to make potions while injured? You see that is what's going to annoy your precious Vale!..

I was dying from the shouting, it was giving me a headache. I could recognize one voice that belonged to Zik, gosh even trying to open my eyes was painful but I forced them to open while groaning because of the pain.

"See she's up which means she's fine!" Said a woman with long black hair, green eyes with a very fit curvy body. She was wearing a red mid thigh leather dress with black knee high boots. You could define her as hot. Was she the werewolf that I saw before passing out. I tried sitting up but I winced at the unbearable pain in my back. " Era stop! You'll feel more pain if you move" said Zik and it made the woman laugh. Great! another person who I feel is going to be a problem. " The Vale I know may do worse when he hears that she tried to escape...wait till he arrives" please tell me she's bluffing or maybe she's not. Vale doesn't care about me, he only wants me alive to make potions and he is very capable of hurting me.

We didn't have to wait long for him to arrive. His cold eyes scanned me for a few seconds and the next thing I saw was his speed as he suddenly slammed the woman against the wall with his hand clenched around her throat. 'what is happening?' this is not what the woman said would happen and it's not what I expected to happen. "Vale?" She asked with confusion and fear on her face.

" How dare you hurt her?" Huh? Even I was shaken by his now deeper voice and I could've sworn I heard two voices coming from him. It's like the room darkened all of a sudden and that's not possible, it must be the headache.

"No s-she...was trying to escape" she could barely speak and her face was turning red. " Who said you could hurt her! Do I have to educate you about her importance!" His shout was like thunder and I'm sure the entire pack if not the entire forest, heard him. " No Alpha Vale I understand now, please it won't happen again!" I was praying he let her go as I couldn't stand the heaviness of the situation. He finally removed his hand from her neck and she fell onto her knees.

He looked at Zik and I thought he was going to punish him since he was supposed to follow me everywhere"Give her a potion to heal her so she starts working, she shouldn't waste time staying in bed. There's not enough time". He left after saying that. There's not enough time? Is he talking about the monsters. This must mean they were able to find the ingredients. I looked outside the window and the sun has yet to come out. " Are you okay " Zik asked the woman who was still shocked by what happened. " I can't believe it...he has never had a problem with the way I do things" she whispered to herself but I was able to hear her. Her eyes caught mine and I felt the hate she now suddenly has for me. Zik was about to say something to her but she raised her hand to stop him and walked out of my room.

" What were you thinking?" He asked while his fingers were pinching the bridge of his knows. " I was thinking of getting out of this place because I don't belong here and I'm so sorry for not liking the fact that you people are using me!" My voice seemed to grow louder by the second and I was left breathing heavily. Zik sighed and also decided it's best to walk out the door, this is by far the most stressful morning. After being given the healing potion I was able to move but still felt pain in some places. I went downstairs to see the ingredients while miraculously ignoring Arina's annoying voice. I think Roseanne was expressing some concern but I just walked past her. I didn't care whose voice it was, I was putting my mind into one thing and that is making as many potions as I can. The anger I have, I can only channel it into fuel.

It was good that they not only found ingredients for a healing potion, they can also be used to make many different potions but for now I'll focus on the two they need. The entire day was on potion making and the fire was gladly keeping Arina and the others away. Is it really okay for me to stay and comfortably waste my life here, what if I'm injured to the point that I'm no longer able to make more potions. Are they going to kill me and get rid of me. Even though it really disgusts me, until I find a way out of here I have to prove I'm useful enough to be treated better. It's clearly not safe out there with the monsters roaming about and I can't just escape without a plan on how I'll survive without the werewolves protection.
