Chapter 24
I scared out of my mind, I didn’t know what to think.
Clearly, it wasn’t my mind that was playing tricks on me. The bed covers burnt under my touch.
“Are you okay?” Somehow, the fire had sparked and then it was gone. Like it was never there.
I nodded, not even having the strength to say anything.
The door swung open. Revealing a very stressed looking Ian.
“I felt your panic, are you okay? Are you hurt?” He said looking at Anna with so much love. It made me miss Eric.
“I’m alright” she said, smiling at him. I genuinely had never seen her this happy in a while. It made me happy for her. Truly, she deserved it.
Or so I tried to tell myself while I see them being all loved up while I was without my mate. “Where is Eric?” I asked. I refused to show how panicked I was.
“He had a meeting with a pack. He said I should let you know that he would be back soon.” I sighed.
But my subconscious mind was not satisfied with the answer. ‘he could have just told you that to not make you feel like he abandoned you when in reality he did.
“There was fire everywhere. It was so scary! And then the next moment it went. Like there was nothing there.” Anna said, rambling a bit. But he listened. He listened to every bit of what she said. He noticed how she was picking at her fingernails and then gently, very gently placed his hands on top of her, effectively stopping her for doing that.
“I’ll have it checked out. How about we go get some air? Just me and you?” she nodded.
He took her out of the room, promising to check up on me later. I felt green, but I chose to ignore it. All that matters was that I was going to be happy for her and not say shit about it.
I sat in the bed, feeling alone.
“papa” I said in a low voice as tears escaped my eyes. “Shoot” I whispered, wiping them off immediately.
“Eloise” I heard a whisper from somewhere in the room.
“Eloise” the voice called, softer this time around. “Eloise” it seemed to be quiet again. There was no trace of a person anywhere.
“Eloise” the voice called again.
“Who the fuck is there, you better answer or I swear” my heart was racing but I couldn’t show fear. It was just going to make the other person confident. “eloise” the voice called again. It was closer than before, giving me chills down my spine.
“Come closer, the mirror” I looked around. I couldn’t see any mirror. I went to the other side of the room, away from the door “don’t run from me, I won’t hurt you, I just want to help.” That was a silent request for me to run as far as my legs were willing to carry me.
I looked at the door, and back around the room. That’s when I saw it.
The mirror I hadn’t noticed before was resting towards the end of the room, as though I was walking out of the balcony.
It made me unaware of how I was of the room.
I genuinely hadn’t noticed that the room was there before. I jumped over the bed, not so graciously and then opened the door.
It didn’t budge.
“That wasn’t your best idea so far.” The voice came again. “come over.” I tried to open the door, again and again. It didn’t work out.
“come over” it called again.
Slowly, I approached the mirror. It looked normal, like a normal mirror. “Closer” it called again. At this point, I felt my heart shake from the fear.
I was directly in front of it.
Weird noises came out from the mirror, followed by a loud scream. I had to crouch down to avoid the things that were coming out of it while covering my ears to block out the sounds.
“Let me go!!” I yelled from panic when I saw a pale hand come out from the mirror and grab my hand rather fiercely. *Let me go!” it was pulling me in, dragging me towards the mirror. “Let. Me. Go!” fire exploded from my hand and burned it. It released my hand instantly, with a hiss.
Seeing that I was free, I ran towards the door and tried again to open it. It was futile. It was shut.
“There’s no where to run, no one can hear you. No one would find you” the voice seemed to be taunting me. “who ever it is that you are, I need you to stop!” I wanted it to sound like a command but it came out like a plea
“She’s weak.” A voice said from the mirror.
“She’d die out there” a different voice from the one that spoke said.
“Well she’s all we’ve got.!” Another voice said. This one sounded unhappy and grumpy.
“Well I thought they said she would be ready by now!” the first voice that originally spoke said.
“Listen here you child!” I tuned them out, while I struggled to open the door.
“Stop it!” a hand came out from the mirror. Only this time, looking at it clearly, it wasn’t a hand of a human being, more like an octopus or something and it was slimy.
“Hey! You’ll scare her further!”
The other voice said. *Fine”
“We have been trying to find you.” The first one said. It didn’t stop me from trying to pull down the door at this rate.
“Seer!!” they knew who I was, that could not in anyway be good. People always to use me for my powers. “Look, if you wit he’s think I’ll listen to you, then you have another thing coming and trust me.”
“Oh hush it. I’ll Rather be a dog shifter than be a witch at least give us more credit” the grouchy voice said with so much disgust.
“Look, I know that you are scared but I’m Milan” the softer and more kind of the three voices said. “And then my sister Maya and Melisa. We are your guardians” she said q calm voice.
Something in me wanted to believe what she had just said, but the fear… I couldn’t. Not with how they had attacked me earlier.
“Lies” I mumbled.
“You see! I’d say we slapped some sense into her then..”
“Melisa!!” from what I could understand, Melissa was the mean one.
“It’s not a lie we would have arrived sooner, but your mum cast a spell around you. Locating you was impossible. We’ll be Happy to answer what ever question you have but for now, Melissa would be your guide since the first power you are exhibiting is fire.”
I tensed.
“How did you know?”
“Oh please. We saw you have those gifts. Literally gave them to you. Why do you think ?” the other voice which j am assuming was Maya.
*Knock knock*
The person at the other side of the door didn’t even wait for me to reply, the door swung open.
“Eloise, I heard what happened are you okay?” Eric said swinging into the room like he had ran a marathon.
,You would have known this if you were here!” maybe it was the fact that he wasn’t here, or how Ian had hugged Anna passionately all the anger I tried to put away suddenly came back tenfold…
