Chapter 86

Margaret's eyes were filled with anticipation as she slowly asked again, "Is it okay? You don't know how worried I've been these past few days when you weren't here. If you didn't reply to my messages, I was going to call the police."

Because besides being able to contact him through her phone and WhatsApp, she had no other way of knowing where he was, and she only knew one of his friends.

If something really happened to him in the future, she might not even receive any news.

Leonard looked at the genuine concern in her eyes, lowered his head, and softly said while looking at the rice in his bowl, "Okay, I'll let you know in the future."

Hearing this, Margaret felt a bit happier than before, and a slight smile appeared on her lips.

"I heard from Bianca that you've been attending seminars all week. What kind of seminars are they?"

Although Margaret didn't understand much about medical matters, as Leonard's wife, she still wanted to know more about his life.

"Nothing special, just some seminars about cancer. You probably wouldn't be interested."

Hearing this, Margaret raised an eyebrow slightly. How did he know she wouldn't be interested?

"Does your hospital not have any gatherings or social events?"

Margaret had wondered why she had to attend social events while Leonard, as a doctor, didn't seem to have any social obligations.

Leonard chuckled lightly at this. He was not someone who enjoyed socializing, so it was unlikely he would frequently attend gatherings with colleagues.

After finishing her last bite of food, Margaret put down her utensils and said, "Although we don't have a strong emotional foundation, since we're married, I hope we can get to know each other better. What do you think?"

She rarely discussed their relationship, but after a couple of arguments, she realized that more communication seemed to help.

Leonard didn't seem to object, so he responded softly.

After taking a shower, they lay in bed. Margaret felt that it was a bit cold outside today, so she instinctively snuggled under the covers.

When Leonard came out of the shower, he saw her curled up like a rabbit under the blanket. He walked over and lay down beside her, and she immediately snuggled up to him.

Feeling that her body temperature was lower than his, Leonard said in a deep voice, "Why are you so cold?"

Margaret shook her head, "Girls are like this, maybe it's poor circulation."

Since she was young, her hands and feet would get cold whenever the weather was slightly chilly. Initially, she thought there was something wrong with her body, but later she realized it was just poor circulation, nothing serious.

Hearing this, Leonard instinctively held her in his arms, using his body heat to warm her. "Does it feel better now?"

Margaret nodded with her eyes closed. Being held in his arms was indeed much warmer than being alone.

"They say men are warmer than women. I used to think it was nonsense, but now it seems to be true."

Leonard chuckled helplessly at her words, "Who told you that?"

Margaret tilted her head, thinking for a moment before saying, "It's been so long, I forgot who said it."

Leonard pursed his lips, "Your ex-boyfriend?"

Hearing this, Margaret knew he was getting jealous again, so she quickly refuted, "No, it has nothing to do with him."

She and Howard had been together for many years but had never slept in the same bed, and even kisses were rare, so it couldn't have been him.

Hearing this, Leonard felt a bit more at ease.

He knew that when he and Margaret first made love, she had no experience, so he never doubted her in this regard. Instead, he was very happy that her first time was with him.

Margaret's voice carried a hint of inquiry, "What do you think if I start calling you 'husband'?"

She hadn't been this proactive before, but after thinking about it for a while, she realized there wasn't a particularly good way to address him. Calling him "Dr. Graham" felt distant, and using his name didn't feel special.

So after much thought, she decided that calling him "husband" might be a bit better.

Leonard didn't expect her to call him that, and his expression darkened slightly.

"If you like it."

Margaret looked up at him, "What do you mean if I like it?"

"But if I call you 'husband' and you still call me 'Ms. Thorne,' don't you think it's strange?"

Leonard rarely called her by her name, usually addressing her as "Ms. Thorne," as if they had a very ordinary relationship.

"Then what do you want me to call you?"

Margaret blinked, "Why don't you try calling me 'wife' or, if that's too embarrassing, 'baby'?"

Although she found these terms a bit awkward, she felt that if they didn't start changing how they addressed each other, their relationship wouldn't progress.

Leonard didn't respond to these terms, closing his eyes as if deep in thought.

Margaret thought he was unwilling, so she squinted her eyes, "Do you find it awkward? You don't have to call me that in front of others, just when we're alone."

Margaret didn't think it would be that awkward.

But Leonard still didn't respond, maintaining a cold demeanor, which made Margaret feel a bit embarrassed. So she moved away from him and turned her back, intending to sleep.

Leonard opened his eyes, glanced at her back, and moved a bit closer to her.

"I'm a bit cold."

Hearing this, Leonard reached out and pulled her into his arms, drawing her closer to his chest. The distance between them closed again, and Margaret, feeling his heartbeat, finally felt sleepy.

"Husband, I'm going to sleep now. Goodnight."

Margaret didn't care whether he was willing to call her that or not; she called him first.

Hearing her softly call him "husband," Leonard's lips curled into a slight smile, "Goodnight."

He had never called her "wife," and their relationship had always been somewhat distant. But he realized that during the week he was at the seminar, her image kept popping into his mind.

He wondered if this was what people usually referred to as missing someone.
