I said to Ryan calmly, "He should be able to distinguish between what's more important."
I didn't want to deal with the women around Henry. Right now, the most important thing for me was making money.
If it weren't for the collaboration with the Sullivan Group, I wouldn't bother.
Ryan didn't say anything, but he made a phone call behind my back, probably consulting Henry.
After hanging up, he walked up to me. "Mrs. Phillips, Mr. Phillips wants you to go over now."
The door was ajar, and through the crack, I saw a seductive woman standing opposite Henry.
The woman had wavy hair, and a black bodycon dress that hugged her curvy waist. The dress was so short that it was almost revealing her buttocks.
Completely different from the type of women he usually went for.
So, Henry had a new taste this time.
I didn't know what they said in the end, but I heard the woman's coquettish laughter. She clenched her fist and playfully punched his chest. "You're so naughty. I'll be waiting for you at home tonight."
After saying that, the woman stood on her tiptoes and kissed Henry on the cheek.
The sound was loud enough for me to hear.
I felt nothing inside. Compared to before, when Henry would bring different women home and have sex in front of me, this was nothing.
I looked away and waited at the door for a while until the woman came out, then I went in.
As the woman passed by me, she seemed to snort coldly. I ignored her and pushed the door open.
I said, "Henry, I need an assistant."
Henry frowned, a hint of impatience in his inscrutable eyes. "Amelia, do you really think you're a special designer?"
His tall figure leaned back, his cold gaze fell on me, and the corners of his mouth curled up in a mocking smile, as if laughing at my overestimation of myself.
"Isn't this what I deserve?" I retorted, "You have money to keep mistresses but no money to pay an assistant?"
"Amelia, don't push it." He suddenly stood up, glaring at me. "Everything you have now is because of me."
I smiled lightly, looking up at his eyes filled with anger, and said word by word, "Henry, it was you who begged me to come back. I don't owe you anything. You insisted on marrying me back then. The money you've given me over the years is just for household expenses at most."
I mocked, "Compared to the money you spend on your mistresses, my monthly living expenses probably don't even match the cost of a bracelet or a ring you give them."
I continued, "Henry, drop your superior attitude. If you need help, be humble. If you lose the Sullivan Group as a partner, your loss will be greater than mine."
His face darkened, seemingly hit by my words, but he quickly regained his composure and sneered, "Fine, I'll arrange it. But if you mess up, don't blame me for being rude."
"Don't worry, I'll do my job well," I said calmly.
He waved his hand, signaling me to leave.
I turned to leave, and just as I reached the door, he called out to me, "Amelia, don't forget our agreement. If the design draft doesn't satisfy the Sullivan Group, don't expect to get a penny."
I stopped, my back to him, a cold smile on my lips. "Henry, don't worry. Unlike you, I know what's more important."
