Chapter 12: Gift Of A Friend-1

**B L A I R E**

Ugh! I was complaining to Jade about my last class, which unfortunately dealt with Old English. Being the sadist that she was, she would always get a good laugh at my discomfort.

This bitch! I still loved her though. "It's not funny J! I mean, the course is titled 'Writing The Unreadable Past' I don't see why Professor Jameson is surprised that most of us are lost in her class, it's literally in the damn name, unreadable erm hello!" I groused loudly as we walked along the quadrangle.

Playfully bumping into my shoulder, Jade said, "Come on Blaire, for as much as some of your classes get to you, you know that you love Literature and couldn't see yourself studying anything else."

"True! At least we have each other for company, even if we aren't together as much as we were in high-school. I enjoy the days when our classes run on a similar schedule so that we can spend time together like this. I also enjoy having lunch with you, as well as being able to just hang out inbetween lectures," I commented as we approached the doors to one of the main food courts on campus.

"Jade! Blaire! I saved you guys some seats!" Rosita called out to us as we entered.

Rosita was a gorgeous girl with long dark hair and lightly tanned skin whom we had met during freshman week in our first semester at university.

From the first day she had arrived, she always hung around Jade and myself trying to push her way into our little group that we had formed.

Even though she had a lively personality and always had a bright smile on her face, there was just something about her that Jade had never really liked. I knew that Jade hated pushy people, but I felt like it was probably more due to the fact that according to her, Rosita and I had hit it off almost immediately. I asked Jade to give Rosita a chance, especially as she had become a part of our group within a few days. It was inevitable, particularly since she had wormed her way into hanging out with us any chance she got, and everyone seemed to like her.

"Thanks, but I need some one-on-one time with my bestie today!" Jade shouted back while pushing me in the opposite direction towards our favourite pizza stall.

Laughing softly, I asked, "Why are you always so rude to her. It's been over a year, hasn't she proven that she's a good friend by now?"

"Nope! She's an acquaintance, not a friend! I don't know why the rest of you can't see how fake she is! Rosita only hangs out with us because we're popular, she doesn't give a shit about us. Not to mention she's always inviting people to sit with us without even vetting them first!" Jade replied as we paid for our food then found a table to the far side of the room.

"Yea, that's that gangster mentality for sure! This is university, Jade, not a mafia," I remarked while unboxing my pizza as I sat next to her.

Pineapple and ham! Yum! Jade wrinkled her nose at my pizza choice, but knew better than to start another argument. Instead, she muttered, "University. Mafia. The two systems aren't that different..."

I shook my head at her response, she would be a badass mafia boss indeed!

"Speaking of the mafia, I can't believe that Dominic still hasn't spoken to you since your birthday! Like it's almost been a month! What a complete dick!" I exclaimed before excitedly biting into the gooey pizza slice.

With a shrug of her shoulders, Jade dug into her box and took a big bit out of her spicy pepperoni pizza slice. As she chewed, I heard her let out a happy sigh as she looked around the large cafeteria.

From the look on her face, I could tell that she was thinking deeply about something.

No doubt her mind was preoccupied with a certain pale-faced Italian. I hated how he refused to give them a chance. I mean sure, I understood his stance, but I felt like it was an excuse. Dominic Calvetti did not do anything that he did not want to, so to me the fact that he kissed Jade meant that he wanted to, and not out of any obligation or pity for her as she seemed to think at times.

From what Jade had told me about their kiss, it was obvious to me that Dominic felt something for her. I just could not understand why he was being so stubborn about it. Not wanting Jade to get consumed by her thoughts, I spoke up, pulling her attention back to me.

"You know what I think you should do? Fuck him!" I said as I narrowed my light brown eyes.

Snorting, Jade replied, "Ha! I wish he would!"

"No, no..." I shook my head as I continued, "I didn't mean it like that, sorry. I meant like fuck him as in he can fuck off! I know you that you have feelings for him, but do you think it's wise to pursue things? Given that you guys aren't even talking right now, what if you keep pushing and it destroys what remains of the friendship that you guys have?"

"Wait a minute, since when has your messy ass started giving out sensible advice?" Jade teased me.

Sticking my tongue out at her, I retorted, "I just know that you care about him, and if this thing doesn't work out, I know not being in his life would hurt you. I just don't want to see you risk everything over a silly little crush that you might get over by next week."

"Unfortunately, after that kiss we shared, I know for a fact that I like him, a lot, and I think that I owe it to myself to explore these feelings, especially since I've never liked anyone before..." Jade acknowledged before adding, "I mean, it's been a month and I still can't get his lips out of my head. If anything, not being able to interact with him is causing my feelings to grow even more."

"Of course, the old wanting what you can't have syndrome," I taunted while wiggling my eyebrows at her.

Waving me off, she said, "Anyway, enough of that for now. What's the deal with you and James anyway? You must be thrilled to finally be living out your fantasy."

"I think the initial excitement is beginning to wear off, but we do have a lot of fun nonetheless. I'm trying not to look too much into it. He's sexy, I'm sexy, and sometimes he sticks his yummy penis inside of me, easy," I rhymed with a grin.

"Wow! That was very vivid!" Jade made a face then said with a slight pout, "I like how you think it's okay for you to have your mafia dream man but telling me that I should forget about mine..."

Snickering softly, I answered, "I don't love mine; but you do! You may not be in love with Dominic. But you do have love for him, and I fear as more time passes, that love will grow into something that could get you hurt. With James, it's just fun and games for us both."

I watched as my best friend played with a lock of her purple hair before enquiring, "Is he as good as he boasts about being?"

Moaning softly, I reminisced, "Fuck yes! That Irishman has got some moves! He does this thing with his tong–"

"Ew!" Jade cut me off, "I didn't ask for details! I don't need visuals of them in my head like that, I've known them since forever," she made a face as she commented.

My smirk widened as I teased, "Didn't stop you from drooling over Mr. DC these past few months though."

"You know very well that with Dom it's different! I don't know what the hell this is..." Jade admitted with a sigh.

I let out a loud laugh as I remembered what had happened last semester. Jade had rushed over to me after my Literary Theory class, her cheeks red as she told me about her epiphany while sitting in her Accounting Analytics lecture. The look of shock and slight revulsion on her face was something that I would never forget. Making a tsk sound, I said, "Either way, I admire your self-control though. I mean, if Aleksandr looked at me the way he looks at you, I'd have been having his babies long time!"

"Ugh! Double ew!" Jade cringed with a laugh.

Pursing my lips, I could not help but think out loud, "I wonder what sex with him is like?"
