Chapter 20: 11|How am I supposed to rest?-2

"If you are not affected, why are you walking away, huh? Can't face me?" I was aware of Asher's confused expression. I was in trouble. Suddenly, nervousness took over me and I did the stupidest thing I could have done, out of my nervousness. "Fine! I am avoiding you! I am avoiding you because, let's just face it, you are a loner and me, I practically run the school. We are not supposed to be seen together, you know. It drags my social status down." Damn, that made me sound like Racheal. I shivered at the thought. Both Liam and Asher looked shell shocked at the words that came out of my mouth. Liam recovered first. "You know what! Fine! Be stubborn! But remember, Astrid, it's my choice too and I am done." With a punch that dented the metal of locker beside my head, he barged away. I sighed. "That was the bitchiest thing that ever came out of your mouth! Who are you and what did you do to my Astrid?! I thought you were better than this, Astrid." He didn't listen to my explanation and barged away. See, this is why I did this. He will concentrate so much on my bitchiness that he will totally forget about the real matter. My brothers ground me. Despite all the achievements, love and privileges, my brothers made sure that I don't end up spoiled. So obviously, my words must have really angered Asher. I was already late for physics and decided to skip it all together. I started walking towards the bleachers, when I saw Felix leaning against a random locker with a smirk. You see, Felix is your typical jock- filthy rich, player and an absolute jerk. Yes, he is in my soccer team and if the guy didn't had talent, I would have made sure to kick his ass out of team. "That was some show, captain." I rolled my eyes and ignored him. "I didn't know you had a bitch bone in your body. But damn, that got me all hot and flustered." I clenched my fists tightly. Don't punch him, Astrid. "I am totally on your side though, baby. That wannabe badass, Liam had it coming. Son of a- Oh actually two bit-" And I lost control. I punched him straight in his face, the sound of his painful hiss along with a crack, gave a sickening satisfaction to me despite my throbbing knuckles. "Say something about him and his family again and I will make sure that you don't have a tongue left to talk with." I gritted out and turned on my heels. I marched out towards bleachers and fell on a chair with an irritated groan with my head resting on my knees. After 10 minutes of solitude with my thoughts, I felt a presence beside me. I grunted in annoyance. I never get a break, do I? "Hey." Alex nudged my shoulder with his. "Hi." I mumbled, half-heartedly. "Why aren't you in class?" "I can ask the same, you know." He chuckled. "Okay, let's try again. Why the long face?" I sighed and peeked through my finger slits. "Nothing. Just tired." He nodded. "Of?" this caught me off guard. Nobody ever wondered what I was tired of. I craned my head up and studied Alex's sincere face for a second. His grey eyes were concerned and his smile was supporting. I sighed. Here goes nothing. "I am tired of dealing with a different jerk every day and that includes you and my brothers too. I feel like giving up on every damn male species for once and all." He laughed and I was momentarily dazed. I swear, I could watch his eyes crinkle and dimple dance around his lips while he laughs, all day. My worries were totally forgotten and my heart swelled for some unknown reason. I felt his happiness. "Answer me, Astrid- when you are tired from a game, what do you do?" I scrunched my eyebrows in confusion. "Rest?" wow, I am so confident. Note the sarcasm. "Exactly. If you are tired from this mental game than instead of giving up, rest." I was stunned for a moment but then, I smiled. "That was deepest thing I have heard in a while." "Why, thank you." He replied cockily. We fell into peaceful silence for a while before he broke it. "It's my fencing tournament on Monday, I won't be able to make it to Chemistry session. But I wanted to ask if you would like to come?" And he surprised me again. "You fence?" he shrugged and rubbed his neck, sheepishly. "I do." "Wow. I always wanted to learn fencing and archery, you know." He looked at me strangely with a small smile. "No. Don't look at me like that. I have no intentions to be an 18th century warrior, I am just fascinated by those arts." He shook his head and gave me a full blown grin. "I can teach you fencing and Rose can teach you archery, she is good at it." "Rose is?" "Rose is." "Wow. It's like both of you came straight out of all the empires and kingdom jazz. I feel so untalented right now." I mocked him. He gave me a small smile. "Hey, I was just joking." He shook his head and nodded as I bumped his shoulder with mine. "I know. So would you like to come?" I nodded vigorously in excitement. "Of course." He gave me a huge genuine smile that again warmed me up as if I felt his happiness. Ruffling my hair, he got up. "Practise starts in 10 minutes. Get ready." I nodded as he jogged towards locker room. My phone beeped in pocket. Neal the absolute flirt- Ice cream after your practise? Me- you are not going home? Neal the absolute flirt- I may or may not have a detention. Me- Haha XD what can teacher's pet do to irk them? Neal the absolute flirt- blame yourself, Parker. I was searching for you and I got late for physics but what do I see, no Astrid in class. *pouts like a hurt puppy* I bit my lip guiltily before I punched a response. Me- yeah, whatever. I am up. Neal the absolute flirt- great, see you! Xoxo. I rolled my eyes and started getting ready for practise. How am I supposed to rest?
