Confrontations and exasperations

Confrontations and exasperations

Sienna's POV.

After finding out my new found oasis was not based on my sweat, I carried out the first three days of working with fake smiles and wondering.

Fake smiles as to not raise any suspicion from my workmates. They are all a bunch of wonderful people and I've grown to like each one of them and know their preferences.

Wondering as to why David got me the job. How did he even know I was looking for job in the first place. These thoughts made me think of the other things he knew I was doing like a predator monitoring the activities of the prey waiting for the right time to strike. But for David, he didn't strike and didn't do anything. And something tells me that he is not just going to watch me forever without making a move on me.

My three to five minutes walk from the beginning of my street to my apartment got me thinking of what to do. Approaching him was one of the things that barely crossed my mind but getting rid of any unwanted eyes was what pestered me.

I was going to look for any hidden cameras in the whole of my apartment to ensure that I wasn't monitored. I entered my apartment and put out my acting skills.

I stretched my hands almost reaching the ceiling and dropped my belongings carelessly, a plan to throw my predator away from knowing my true intentions.

I turned off all the lights in my room and closed all the blinds ensuring no penetration of light. The activities of my windows that gave light that brightened my room were suspended, another part of my plan.

My eyes were temporarily rendered irrelevant while the rest of my senses were put to good use.

I silently carried a chair whose creaking nearly blew my cover. I picked up my other chair, the one I never used but was deemed fit to protect myself from any intruder and stood on it.

My hands scanned through the bits of the ceiling and unhook every single bulb and electronic device from my house.

I used my familiarity with my apartment to move around in the dark, carrying out the climax of my objective to retrieve the privacy I was deprived of.

As I carried out this Herculean task, I couldn't help but feel pity for those that found themselves in investigation department. They give it their all just to ensure that the welfare of the people was put first but here I was up in my ceiling drenched in my sweat for an easy task.

Now that the hard part was over, I found myself breathing comfortably. I took my blanket from my drawer, the color familiar with the night. I dabbed it on every single device I gathered and uncovered every blinds in my room.

All the eye of the suspected camera would see is the darkness it remembered when I turned off the lights and closed the blinds.

Not that I had an idea what I was doing, but I knew it in my guts that I needed to do something and that was exactly what needed to be done.

I took water from my tap watching the slow running water torture my thirst. I gulped the water swiftly, a rare doing that's not to be compared with my frequent sips.

After drinking water that felt like heaven, I went back to the mission getting a screwdriver from another drawer, an object I never thought would be relevant until now.

I stole the first object from the blanket, a decorative light I got from Amazon to give my room the independent woman vibes.

The second object followed, a smoke detector.

Then the third object put an end to my curiousity and the part of my mind that told me all my work was pointless.

If it's one thing a light bulb didn't come with was a drilled hole and a camera articulated inside it. The bulb had burned out over months and the new lights I got from Amazon made me forget about its existence.

I was oblivious to everything around me before but then the placement of the bulb which was in the center of the room made more sense. That was the place where my spy could see all my activities; my happiness, my sadness, my emotional breakdowns, when I came into the house and when I went out, all the notes I jotted and all the research I made.

With the same precision, I searched through the rest of the applicances and saw another camera.

I hid the cameras under the blinds again and wondered what to do. I was still in shock as to what I was going to do. This was the first time something like this happened to me.

I always knew David was protecting me. The type of person that would kill for you, David was that person. He would go through the ends of the earth for me if I so much as joked with it. But knowing he would do all this and compiling it with the dangerous things I knew he was capable of, it made me feel even unsafe and far away from him. Some part of me forgave him as long as I moved on and all the chaos he brought didn't affect my lifestyle. But this isn't something anyone can shake away.

I left my apartment in the middle of the night looking unkept. With my oasis compromised, I needed to either work towards making it an oasis again or look for a better one.

After going in circles all over my apartment, I finally decided to take another route which unintentionally led me to an hotel.

I wasn't going to enter until my legs betrayed me and I found my self booking a room for the night.
I recounted everything that happened in my life ever since I met David and I realized he was my destroyer. My job got stolen from me, my life got dictated from me and even when I feel free, I still feel owned.
