Chapter 24: An unexpected treachery

ANDRE'S POV.

I sat still in my office trying to piece the next move for the two brothers trying to terrorize the town. I've kept quiet for a while tolerating every single excesses they gave. But it was time they became aware of all their troubles and how it was terrorizing the town.

Minding my business has always been my brand but these two have always started acting like they couldn't be contained, it was time I reminded them of that.

Sipping the last drop of neat whiskey I laid on my desk, Porsha came in to inform me of their new strike.

Victor blew up his brothers house just outside of town and our source tells us that David has gathered a couple of men on a ship trying to strike back.

What do you mean blow up his brother's house?

Yes. Three guards are in currently in the hospital. One is having his left leg amputated and… someone died.

I boiled with rage and I wanted to smash the glass in my hand. But I responded with a, Thank you, Porsha.

We have to move on to phase two sooner than expected. I stood up from my chair and unveiled board. If was keeping up with the damage and mayhem caused by the two wonder brothers.

I picked up my phone from my pocket and dialed a phone number.

Pick up their bits. The line clicked at the end of the call in sync with my demands.

The plan was in motion.

JESSICA'S POV.

The night breeze shifted and it was almost harsher than an air conditioner unleashed to its fullest.

A hand from behind dabbed me in his jacket. I didn't flinch as the smell of strawberries as it was nothing but familiar.

You're going to get cold soon.I said without looking back knowing it was only David that was capable of doing something like that.

Don't worry about me. I can take good care of myself. He said facing me. The breeze scattered his hair and his black vest showed nothing but his masculine hygiene.

I guess we didn't get to finish from where we took off the last time.

I guess we didn't.I added, nodding my head.

As much as I wanted to go all out with David, the cold of the night made me want nothing but to hold him right.

Strapping onto his big body, I embraced him tight holding on to what the universe has deprived us of.

On getting lost into the hug, a loud explosion was heard from the other end of the ship. Of course, the universe intrudes again.

David looked at me asking to be released. I understand immediately and told him, Go.

As David dashed to investigate the matter, a louder explosion came which led to a bunch of yelling men on the ship.

I was confused as to what was going on and as I tried to investigate as well, a hand grabbed me from behind.

Miss. Jessica, it's not safe for you to be outside. Mr. David already prepared a safe boat for us to lead you safety to shore.

Everything about the man looked strange. His dressing and the fact that Davids men always called him by his surname.

I'll go get David myself.I unpinned myself from his grasp and moved slowly away from him.

He watched my every movement and after getting tired of his disguise, he hurled at me and struck me.

My reflex kicked in and I dodged the first punch. Unexpectedly, from behind, glass, rock, bottle, whatever it was, I know I passed out.

DAVID'S POV.

After leaving Jessica to investigate the matter, another explosion followed. This time around, I ran to ensure that everything was fine.

On getting to the main scene of explosion, I realized that my men were in a battle with those mightier than then.

Henry yelled at me to get Jessica out and then it occured to me that we were under attack.

Jessica was all alone. I needed to run and save her if not anything.

As I turned back, a group of professional fighters stood in my way objecting to my objectives.

From their stance and the way they dressed, you would know that my fighting skills wasn't going to match theirs.

I used the only weapon in my arsenal which happened to be my pistol. It took be a long hit before I could get a hit on them as their movements were too much for me to get an aim.

After minutes of fighting, another explosion erupted. The first fighter fell into the pool and I was able to take care of the second fighter with my bullet.

Being banged up from the explosion wasn't going to stop me from saving Jessica.

As I reached where I left her, all I saw was nothing but my jacket covered in blood. As I looked around, I saw that a boat was taking off.

I ran to the dock and started shooting with the aim of stopping the boat from getting far.

My aims were futile and as I spotted a grenade coming in — out from the boat, I ran as fast as possible away from danger. But of course, even I wasn't mightier than a grenade. The explosion blew me a good night's kiss.

VICTOR'S POV.

I found it almost weird that David had not struck back. My men had been preparing for over a week and it looked as though nothing has happened. This was one thing I hated about the bastard, you never know when he was going to strike.

Just as my thoughts birthed and formed in a spiral, a loud explosion came from a place which seemed to be my kitchen.

Finally!I yelled and stood up from my chair.

David was ready to strike and so was I. The plan I wanted to execute in my head had been waiting for weeks to be carried out. I couldn't have been more excited.

But of course, as I opened the door to assemble my men to carry out their work, the

click of a gun knocked me out of consciousness.
