Chapter 22: The universe currently elevates

JESSICA'S POV.

I stood in front of David's door again, hesitant whether to just knock on his door to find out if he was still angry at me. My solitude was creating a cocoon of it's own and I needed a touch to feel whole again. It may be rough, it may be gentle, I'm in for it all.

'All I needed was just a touch. I reminded myself.'

I knocked this time around to prevent myself from seeing David's nudity. Not that I wouldn't be happy to see it. But at least, some level of seriousness should be between the both of us.

After my soft trembling knock on the door, I gripped the cold door's handle and let myself in. I was shocked to see David reading a book and putting on glasses.

I got caught in his attractiveness that my body started to debate if he was hotter shirtless or if looked better in glasses.

As my mind bounced back and forth blurring every other activity in the room, I got called back to reality with Davids grunt. He caught me drooling.

I cupped my hands together and then to my face as it flushed with tomato red not knowing how to start the conversation which I almost forgot after getting momentarily lost in his attractiveness.

I know you're probably still angry at me for the rash decision I made that led to Victor's… I promise to not disobey you even in the slightest bit anymore because I'm pretty sure you hate me right now and you don…I paused trying to find words to describe my apologies in the most sincere way. I had tried to pick off when suddenly, his voice breaks through my thought.

I don't hate you, Jessica. I can never hate you.

I felt like a part of my mind was going to explode after hearing what he said. A lot of questions ran through my mind as to why he avoided me for weeks.

He stood up from the swivel chair and moved closer to me and uncupped my hands. It was as if he sensed the nervousness in them and wanted to calm me to assure that he was for me and not against me. We were both seated on the bed in the most comfortable way giving way for our minds to be fully opened.

At first, I wanted to hate you. I didn't want to forget you because I wondered what made you make that reckless move but it looks like that's exactly what Victor needed. Not the recklessness but what our mother said to me before she died.

I was shocked to hear all these things. To think that I've been beating myself up for the past one week only for him to forgive me just like that. I felt like I could feel his rage and fury from my room.

Just make sure you don't go around shooting anyone that pisses you off.He concluded and that just right there was a bang!

Poof.

I gave out a loud giggle which was something I hadn't done in a while.

Our sitting arrangement looked like something was going to escalate and I was all in for it. The glasses he wore were enough to make my insides twitch just at his stares. It felt like a river of flowing waters that was making its ways through every sensitive nerve in my body and it couldn't wait to reach even the ocean.

The universe has really ruined a lot of things for us, hasn't it?

I chuckled a little bit like a child then gave an answer in whispers. Only if we allow it.

I felt it, his gaze on me causing the side of my cheek burn, I turned to match his eyes and slowly his face comes almost in contact with mine, I shut my eyes tight — expecting those cherry lips to lay its bloom on mine.

My breathing became hot when suddenly I felt his breath over my face and mine also brushing over his, he leaned more closed as he parted his lips, I hissed — 'can we do this already?' and then slowly those lips parted as I've been awaiting for them it to slam on mine. He raised his hands and caressed a finger on my cheek and as he leaned in, almost about to lock lips, an explosion parted us across the room. I hit my head around an unknown material and the last thing I remembered was just that and every other thing just went black.

DAVID'S POV.

Immediately the explosion parted what was supposed to be our glorious and make up kiss, my combat reflexes kicked in instantly. I hit my head on a glass that caused me bleeding almost immediately. My eyes blurred a little before I was able to get back consciousness.

Checking up on Jessica was my main focus and not who blew up one of my favourite houses. She appeared to be breathing but unconscious and that was just enough for me at the moment.

After checking on Jessica, my eyes widened and turned pitch rage as my next objective was to make my enemy pay. I opened up a secret compartment in my room and brought out three pistol guns. They didn't look like it but they were faster, better and more durable than any other rifle I've ever used.

I scanned through what was left of my surveillance system to find out that it was Victor who launched the attack. It was expected of his given what he just went through but he needed to pay for making her bleed.

By the looks of things, Victor didn't do that alone. It didn't take long before my men joined in the fight and both parties began exchanging bullets. I would be a coward if I didn't join them.

As soon as I joined the party, the head of my security team, Henry informed me of everything that went on.

They came totally undetected sir. It was —they were invisible. He said as he fired back at Victor's men.

I was almost impressed at Victor for successfully going undetected in a battle but I needed to teach him a lesson at that moment in time.

After minutes of crossfire, it looked like my men were going down and reinforcements weren't near.

Sir, you need to leave here, now.Henry advised.

No! I'm not leaving you guys here.I disagreed, call it stubborn but I wouldn't let my men die just to save me.

It's what we're trained to do, sir. Get yourself and Jessica out of here before everything implodes. A car is already waiting at the back for you sir.

He was right. The logical thing to do was to escape before Jessica and I got injured or killed. I wouldn't expect anything less than blood from Victor. It was at the mention of Jessica, I turned back.

And this? It was the first time I backed down from a fight with Victor. It was new for me but then, — even I knew when my limits were reached.

Jessica was still knocked out when I entered into the room, she still looked stunning even with blood and some smoke that turned black on her face. I scooped her in my hands like some possession and carried her gently like an egg as I rushed to the car Henry had prepared for us.

I placed her at the back and tucked her hair backwards before entering the driver's seat.

I sat in by the steering, and drove off to the nearest hospital to think of what next to do with the

new monster Jessica and I had created.
