Chapter 64: Attack
As Damien and his group of vampires vanished into the night, tension hung in the air like an ominous cloud.
Tge Alphas, knew that they had just taken a bold and dangerous stance against a powerful adversary, the vampire king, they knew the reputation that precedes him and they hoped that their pack wouldn’t one of the places he would go and conquer.
“Ed, what happened?”Brandon said as he rushed toward him as he caught him walking in the hallway.
“Nothing good Bran, we’re going to war and I need you to announce that to every soldier, and to the people they should prepare for a siege” Edgar said and Brandon could hear the shakiness in his voice.
“What happenes Edgar? Slow down and talk to me” Brandon said in a loud voice and Edgar knew that he couldn’t avoid it anymore.
“You really want to know? The vampire king came to me to release his son and return him and I told him to f*ck off” Alexander said with so much anger in his voice.
“Why didn’t you just give him his son?” Brandon said not understanding why his friend will be so stupid.
“Skylar is his son” Edgar said and Brandon was more than shocked to even say a word.
“Your decision not to release Skylar was a calculated risk, by keeping him I believe that we have some sort of leverage, a bargaining parcel that could potentially protect this pack from immediate harm” Brandon said as his mind ran wild with so much thoughts.
“You are the only one that thinks the same way like I do, even Elaine thinks I made a mistake” Edgar said running his hand through his hair as felt very frustrated.
“It seems like a mistake but it isn’t because Skylar will always want his revenge whenever he got the chance” Brandon said and Edgar looked at him with such pride in his eyes that Brandon was finally getting ti become more and more like him.
“You’re really learning boy” Edgar said.
“We’re born this same year Alex, don't call me boy” Brandon said and walked away.
“Run along now boy, see you in few hours” Edgar said laughing at the expression on Brandon’s face, he was happy that someone finally agreed with him and saw that what he did was for the betterment of the pack members but the future remained uncertain, and the consequences of their defiance were unpredictable.
In the days that followed, the packs intensified their preparations, bolstering their defenses and rallying their members. The uneasy calm settled over the territory, with everyone aware that a storm was brewing on the horizon.
As they waited for Damien's next move, the leaders of the werewolf packs knew that their resolve and unity would be tested like never before. The fate of their race and the safety of their people hung in the balance, and they were determined to stand strong against the impending storm.
The tension between the werewolves and the vampires had escalated to a breaking point. It was only a matter of time before Damien returned with a vengeance, determined to take Skylar back by force.
Alexander prepared his people for this day but he knew that no form of preparation can assure their safety.

One fateful night, under the cover of darkness, as the moon loomed in the sky, Damien and his vampire enforcers made their move.
They descended upon the white house citadel with stealth and cunning, moving through the shadows like phantoms. Their intent was clear, to reclaim Skylar and kill everything in the way of stopping them.
Damien and his men moved precisely, scaling through the walls of the white stone pack house and directly into the dungeons, they had no plans to come for a fight that day but they were sure to return for a fight another day.
They entered into the dungeon, looking for Skylar and where he had been kept, after a vigorous search they found him, released him and were ready to go when a werewolf soldiers caught up with them, they surrounded them and without letting them go anywhere, the two factions broke out into a heated fight, the werewolves were winning because there were greater in numbers but the vampires were faster, stronger and more skilled in fighting.
They fought for a while and finally the werewolves were able to put them down, it did not last for too long when Damien came along and killed them all with his very sharp blade, he carried Skylar on his shoulders and exited the dungeons leaving no werewolf he encountered alive behind.

“My Lord, an attack on the citadel” Brandon said barging into Edgar’s room in the middle of the night and he rushed out of the room without hesitation as he slept with his clothes on to prevent any form of delay in the case of an emergency.
“What happened?” Edgar said as they walked down to the dungeons where the attack was said to have happened.
“They were able to scale through the walks and access the dungeons” Brandon said trying to keep up with Edgar’s pace.
“And Skylar?” Edgar said.
“Gone” Brandon replied and Edgar stopped and used his fists on the wall punching it so hard that there was a crack on it.
“How many men died in this attack tonight?” Edgar said with a low tone.
“Ten men my Lord” Brandon said formally as he knew that Edgar was in the worst mood at that moment.
“I want all the guards that were on duty tonight report to the throne room, if they came in to take just Skylar, there is someone on the inside feeding them information and we’ll find them tonight” Edgar said with anger in his voice and frustration evident in his voice.
