Chapter 62: Sleep
The vampire king, Damien, brooded over the grievous loss of his son, Skylar. Word had come to him that his son was dead from a battle with the werewolves.
Skylar had been a thorn in the side of the land of Rosanne for years, and while Damien had often been vexed by his reckless antics, he couldn't deny the pain that consumed him at his son's demise.
But amidst his grief, Damien harbored a huge sense of anger, one that he had nursed since the day he learned of Skylar's fate. He never got to meet his son Skylar because he felt it was better to love him from afar.
He believed that the responsibility for his son's death lay squarely on the shoulders of Edgar and Elaine, the alphas of the red stone and blue stone packs.
He understood the werewolf community deeply and knew there were tensions. He planned to sow discord by spreading rumors and causing doubt, his aim was basically to weaken the unity that had been built.
Damien had spies and allies in the werewolf packs, witches and warlocks skilled in dark arts that lived in his castle. He would call them to stir up chaos within the packs, using magic.
“Reach out to everyone we know across the border and into the land of Rosanne, tell them all to spread the news of Edgar Knight and Elaine Peregren the leaders of the blue and red stone pack about a power grab they are using their marriage to make” Damien said to all his loyal servants and they all dispersed to carry out the task he sent them.
With his plan in motion, Damien felt a sense of satisfaction. Revenge was a dish best served cold, and he anticipated watching Edgar and Elaine's world crumble from within.

"Brandon," Edgar began, his voice filled with concern.
"Yes, My Lord” Brandon replied swiftly.
“How exactly did that happen? How didnSkylar escape? What did he do to every wolf down there” Edgar said as he walked through the empty halls headed for the library.
“I don’t still know how my Lord, the only way he was going to escape is if he has allies inside tjis house which isn’t entirely impossible” Brandon said following behind him and keeping the pace.
Edgar leaned forward, his eyes fixed on Brandon's. "Do we have any leads on who might be behind this?"
Brandon sighed, running a hand through his hair. "I've been discreetly investigating, and while I haven't found anything yet, but I am certain that there is someone helping Skylar, more like a puppet master pulling the strings in plain sight."
"We need to put a stop to this, everyone needs to wake up we cannot remain vulnerable for this long."
Brandon nodded in agreement. "I couldn't agree more."
Soon, after few hours every member of the pack that laid lifeless in the wedding grounds, stood up and confusion filled their faces.
“What happened?” Claudia said as soon as she stood up from her chair where she slumped.
“Skylar attacked, this time he came with something we’ve never seen before, he put you all to sleep. I, Edgar and Brandon were the only ones awake through this time” Elaine explained as she helped Claudia stand and walk towards the house.
“That’s propestourous” Claudia said with anger etched in her face.
“We are looking for ways to stop him” she replied and there was a loud voice from a distance.
“Watch out!!” the voice said from the watch tower and Elaine saw an arrow aimed at Claudia and just before it hit her, Elaine stepped in front of it as it pierced through her.
“No!!” Elaine screamed as she woke uo frim the terrible nightmare she just had.
