Chapter 53: Missing

“You need to find out why she feels I am her property and why she cannot let my soul rest” Edgar said to his corruption.

“What do you mean by let your soul rest? Have this happened before?” Edgar’s corruption said looking at Edgar closely.

“Yes it has, she killed my mother and made me fall in love with her to blind me from seeing her for who she truly was” Edgar said opening up to his other self who was the only one he could talk to at that point in his life.

“That’s wild, who will help me find all this? I don’t have your memories and thoughts” Edgar’s corruption said.

“Well, you have Brandon, he knows everything in my life, he will be your guide” Edgar said.

“I think I should get going now, I feel Elaine’s in trouble” Edgar’s corruption said and he disappeared.

“Edgar” Edgar said calling out to his other self and pausing for a moment.

“Make sure no harm comes to her” he continued.

“I’ll make sure of that, not because of you but because I love her too” Edgar’s corruption replied.

“Very well then, I’ll see you when next we meet” Edgar said and his corruption nodded before disappearing into thin air.

He opened his eyes to find himself in another room and he looked around to find only Brandon by his side.

“My Lord” he said helping him sit up.

“Brandon, where’s Elaine?” He said , he needed to see her, she was in so much trouble.

“She’s gone, Rachael took her. I tried to save her but there was nothing that could be done” Brandon replied with his face filled with shame.

“Get me Brandon, Immediately” Elaine said on top of her voice and the guards ran out of the room leaving only her behind with Rachael and Edgar’s lifeless body.

“Who are you?” Elaine said raising the ice up Rachael’s arms.

“Never” she replied.

The guards ran towards the physicians quarters where Brandon has been through out the war, making sure that all the soldiers receive good treatment for their wounds.

“Brandon!! Brandon!!” they said screaming his name and he ran towards them in a haste.

“What is it?” Brandon said looking very alert as he led them out of the quarters to prevent people who were been treated there from hearing what happened.

“Lady Elaine, she needs you now, there’s an intruder in her room” they both said and before they could complete their sentences Brandon was already walking and making his way to the door

“Alert every guard in the citadel, seal every gate and make sure every civilian stays inside with their doors bolted” he said as he ran in his full speed towards Elaine’s room.

His mind kept on imagining what must have gone wrong, they had just defeated Skylar and everything was supposed to be okay but what was going on in Elaine’s room now that made her send for him so urgently.

Brandon got to her door and heard the most other worldly cry he have ever come across, he opened the door to find Edgar on the ground lifeless, Elaine at the brink of losing her self and going on a rampage, and the old woman half covered in ice.

“Take Edgar to a safe place and leave here Brandon” Elaine said without taking her eyes off the woman.

“I can’t leave you her My Lady” Brandon replied feeling very worried.

“I’m not asking you to leave, I don’t want to be a hero take Edgar to a safe place and come back here to help me, do you understand?” Elaine said and Brandon nodded in agreement, walked towards Edgar and carried him on his back and walked out of the room.

“You can never get what you want, I have everything in the palm of my hands” Rachael said smiling with her teeth-less mouth and this infuriated Elaine to a whole other level.

“Speak now or I will kill you” Elaine said as she kept on increasing the ice that surrounded Rachael’s body till it was only her head left to be covered up.

“Arrrggghhh, I will never do that, I will never tell you what you need to know, I rather die” Rachael said.

“Then die” Elaine said in a low tone meaning every word she said, she covered her up totally and her screams were muffled behind the thick wall of ice that swallowed her.

Elaine heaved a sigh of relief and she closed her eyes gently to regain her strength back when she heard a noise right in front of her, It was Rachael in her young self. She snapped her fingers and all Elaine could see was pure darkness.

Brandon went back to the room and opened the door to find it empty, neither Elaine nor the old woman were anywhere to be found. He slowly dropped himself to the ground with frustration.

What was he going to tell Edgar once he wakes up? That he wasn’t able to protect his mate? He knew that if the table turned and he was the one the old woman came for, Elaine wouldn’t have left him alone with her, she would have fought with him till they were able to defeat her. He failed her, he failed his Queen.

How did that even happen?” Edgar said.

“They just suddenly disappeared into thin air, I don’t know where she must have taken her to” Brandon said running his hand through his hair.

“Help me Brandon, I need to get to the libraries” Edgar’s corruption said as he tried to stand up properly and Brandon rushed to help him out.

“Why do you need to go yo the library?” Brandon said as they both walked together in the hallways.

“I need to find out the history of the packs and the lineages of all werewolves” Edgar’s corruption replied.

“I don’t seem to understand why you need that to save Elaine from Rachael” Brandon said very confused as he tried to keep up with Edgar’s corruption fast pace.

“If we don’t find out who Rachael is and why she tried to kill Edgar’s mother, we can never find Elaine,” Edgar’s corruption said and Brandon stared at him with confusion as he didn’t understand why he spoke like he wasn’t Edgar.
