Chapter 6

"Where are you going?" Samantha's mother asked while they were having lunch.

"Uh…there's just somewhere I gotta be, Mom," Samantha replied nervously.

"And where is that? Who are you going with? Is Alfred going with you? Or Rose?" her father asked one question after another while staring at her intently.

"One of my friends is coming with me. And we aren't going far, so you don't have to worry." Fortunately, she didn't get tongue-tied with all the lies she was telling her parents.

"And who is that friend?" her mother asked with a frown.

She looked down and began to eat quickly. She couldn't stand lying to her parents any longer. She tightened her grip on the spoon and fork when she thought of the man who was making her lie.

Damon. That asshole. This is all his fault! she thought while continuing to eat.

"Samantha, slow down or you'll choke. Don't worry, there's still plenty of food," her mother said.

She acted like she hadn't heard and just kept on eating one bite after another. But it seemed that the devil had heard her mother because Samantha began to choke. Her father quickly handed her a glass of water, which she took and immediately drank.

"See? I told you," her mother said, shaking her head.

After she finished, she placed the glass of water beside her plate and wiped her lips with her palm. "I'm done eating. I gotta go now," she said, then hurriedly brought her plate to the kitchen. After putting her plate in the sink, she walked towards her room.

"You're leaving now?" her mother asked.

"Yeah. I just have to get dressed, then I'll leave," she answered before finally entering her room and locking the door.

Samantha leaned against the closed door and sighed.

Lying to her parents was tough, but she had to. She did not want them to know what she had done. Especially now that she knew that her parents knew who Damon was.

Just thinking about seeing Damon again was already weakening her body.

She was still leaning against the closed door of her room with her eyes closed when her cellphone rang. She lazily went towards her bedside table, where her cellphone was. Her blood immediately boiled when she saw the name of the caller.

Hands trembling in anger, she answered the call. "Where are you? I've been waiting for you for a while now," Damon asked as soon as she answered the call.

She took a deep breath. "Still at home," she coldly answered.

"What? Didn't I say you should be here by 7? It's almost 6:50, and you're still at your house!" Damon said in a pissed tone.

She rolled her eyes. "So? Did I agree to that? I didn't, right? You decided it all by yourself, so you'll have to wait for me!" she yelled in an annoyed tone and then hung up without waiting for Damon to say anything else.

She messed with her hair. Damon was getting on her nerves, but she could do nothing but consent to his wishes. In exchange for the video, she had to be with Damon for two days and one night. That had been Damon's condition for deleting the video. She didn't know if she could handle his presence, but she had already stalled as much as she could.

Two days and one night. After that, she would make sure that Damon couldn't even get close to her and he wouldn't be able to bother her anymore.

She sighed again before deciding to finally get dressed, and while dressing herself up, she thought of her boyfriend, Alfred.

Samantha hadn't let Alfred know she was leaving her house because if she had, Alfred would've asked where she was going, and she didn't know if she could lie to him. She didn't want to add to the list of people she had to lie to.

Samantha chose to wear a plain white T-shirt and ripped skinny jeans, which she partnered with white shoes.

Carrying a small bag that contained her clothes, cellphone, and money, she said goodbye to her parents, who were sitting side by side watching a television show.

"I'm leaving now," she said and left the house.

"Be careful!" she heard her mother shout when she was at the gate.

"Okay!" she replied, then went out.

"What took you so long? And why did you cut off my call earlier!" was what Damon immediately said when she arrived at the dock. He approached her with a frown.

She raised an eyebrow. "Because I wanted to. Got a problem with that?" she answered, trying to annoy the guy.

Damon took a long time to answer, but then he just shook his head. "I forgot who you are for a moment, Samantha," he said, grinning.

She just rolled her eyes before turning to look at the beautiful yacht behind Damon. "Are we getting on that?" she asked as she stared at the yacht.

Damon followed her gaze. "Yes," he answered.

She just nodded. She could not take her eyes off the yacht. She was fascinated with it. This was her first time seeing a yacht in person, and what she was seeing right now was big and luxurious.

The yacht owner must be wealthy, she thought.

She looked at Damon again, staring at him. He was wearing a shirt printed with the word 'Semi-Finalists,' distressed white khaki shorts, and sneakers. He was also wearing black sunglasses.

Well, he looked like a rich bachelor, she thought.

She didn't know much about the man, only his name and that he owned a company. She didn't even know what kind of company he owned.

Rose had been right. Samantha had been stupid and weak to give her body to this man.

But then she shrugged. It was a good thing that she didn't know too much about Damon—she wouldn't try to get to know him either—because in two days and one night, Damon would finally disappear from her life.

"What? Am I so handsome that you can't take your eyes off me?" Damon arrogantly asked, grinning.

She just raised an eyebrow at him, then shook her head. "Arrogant asshole."

Damon's grin only widened as he shook his head.

Samantha instantly went on guard when Damon started walking towards her, only stopping when he was right in front of her.

"Relax. I won't attack you. I just want to take your bag," Damon said, raising both hands in the air.

She stared at him sharply for a few seconds before finally handing him her bag, which he took slowly.

"Two days and one night, just like you promised," she said seriously.

"Yes. And after that, I will delete the video."

"And you won't bother me anymore. You will stop coming to see me, and you will stay away from me," she said, still in a serious voice.

"That's not part of our deal. I didn't promise that I would stop seeing you. You know I can't do that, especially now that I know our families have such a special connection."

"Special connection, my ass. Just because our parents are friends doesn't mean we have to be. Look, this is the last time I will entertain you. After this, I don't want you around me anymore. I hope that you'll keep your part of the deal."

Damon didn't answer, just kept staring at her, but she did not look down. She met his eyes.

Damon finally gave up, turning around and walking towards the yacht first.

"Let's go so we can get to the island early," he said, boarding the yacht.

Samantha sighed before following him up. She almost lost her balance as she boarded the yacht, but fortunately, Damon was quick enough to wrap his arms around her waist. Samantha accidentally held onto Damon's arm, making their bodies stick together.

Her heartbeat quickened when she looked at Damon's face.

He was wearing sunglasses, but Samantha was sure that their eyes met.

"Be careful," Damon said in a husky voice.

She couldn't—and she wouldn't—deny that Damon was one hell of a handsome guy. He was the perfect example of tall, dark, and handsome, with thick eyebrows, a sharp nose, and red lips.

"Are you okay?" Damon asked in astonishment a few seconds later, but she still could not speak. She just stared at Damon's face. Only then did Samantha seem to wake up. She quickly pushed Damon away, which surprised him. She then grabbed the railing of the yacht so that she would not fall again.

"D-don't come near me!" she said, stuttering, forcing her voice to hide the embarrassment she was feeling.

"I was just trying to help you. I'm not that much of a pervert," Damon said seriously, then turned his back on her.

Samantha was shocked by what Damon had said.

"Not a pervert? Yeah, right," she whispered before following him inside the yacht.

They sailed for about two hours before they reached the island that Damon owned, and again, she was fascinated—not with a yacht, but with the island.

She quickly removed her shoes and excitedly got off the yacht. She even forgot her bag in her excitement.

The moment her feet stepped onto the refined and smooth sand, she wanted to run all over the island. She looked around her. She even turned around to make sure that she could see how beautiful and majestic the island was. She was surrounded by white and soft sand, crystal blue seawater, and tall coconut trees.

"Wow," she exclaimed in amazement.

She was so amazed and fascinated with the beautiful island that she didn't notice that Damon was behind her, carrying her bag.

"You like it?" Damon suddenly asked, startling her.

She quickly turned around to face him. And her eyes widened in shock when she saw how close their faces were.

"Um…y-yes…" she stuttered as she backed away.

Damon seemed to have noticed that she was backing away. He grinned but did not speak and just walked away.

"Let's go," she heard him say.

She didn't say anything more, just followed Damon while looking around.

"It's so beautiful," she whispered.

She was still busy looking around, so she did not notice a raised coconut tree root, causing her to stumble. She screamed in shock as she closed her eyes and just waited to fall onto the sand. But instead, she felt someone grip her arm, stopping her from falling.

She slowly opened her eyes. The white sand was the first thing she saw.

"How could you be so clumsy?" she heard Damon say.

That was when she raised her head and saw Damon beside her, holding one of her arms.

Damon slowly pulled her up so she could stand. "Look where you're going so you won't stumble again," he said.

Samantha was about to answer when Damon suddenly grabbed her by the waist. She was shocked when Damon suddenly lifted her and placed her on his shoulder.

"What the hell are you doing?" she shouted in surprise.

Damon suddenly hit her ass, which made her gasp. "I'll carry you so you don't keep on falling," he said.

"If only I could be there to catch you every time you fell," Damon whispered, but she still heard the words that made her cheeks blush.
