Chapter 10
We both woke up from a moment of drowsiness when the doorbell rang.
"I'll look, just rest," he said then put on his boxer shorts and went out.
I was so tired, so I just let him. Plus the fact that I am really sore down there, I don't think I can walk properly.
"Oh! Did you just wake up? Sorry we were so early, we just wanted to visit you."
Daddy?
"Where's Cassandra?" I heard Mommy ask.
Fuck!
"She's still sleeping." Andrei replied to her.
I sat down and quickly looked for my clothes, but I couldn't find any. In the end, I just got Andrei’s shirt and swiftly put it on.
As I expected, Mommy just entered the room. Her jaw dropped as she looked around.
Damn it! Our clothes were scattered.
"Is she awake?" I heard Daddy ask behind her, followed by Andrei.
Shocked. Mommy and I both looked at each other over and over again, and the clothes on the bottom of our bed.
"Oh my gosh! I'm sorry my princess, I forgot you're already married." Mommy said then quickly pulled Daddy out before closing the door.
They left us in the bedroom. I covered my face in embarrassment.
I heard him laugh, so I stared at him.
He approached me before kissing my forehead.
"It's okay. It's normal for couples." He assured me with a smile.
We both cleaned up our scattered clothes. I also took a shower, and got dressed for entering the office.
We ate breakfast quietly with my parents. I can feel their stares on Andrei and me, maybe they think we are really getting along.
I could see the joy in Daddy's eyes when the two of us met.
Yes Cassandra, this is it. You are doing all of this because of your father. And seems like it worth it.
"You know you're crazy," my friend Ayesha, uttered.
She is now in my office while I tell her everything that happened.
I just covered my face and pulled my own hair.
"Are you sure you don't love him yet?"
I thought for a moment when she asked.
"I don't know. I don't know Ayesha. All I know is that I'm very upset with him."
"Girl, love and lust are different, okay?”
I immediately looked at her. "Tsk! I'm not that stupid Ayesha, I wouldn't have a problem like this if it was just lust, right?"
She nodded at what I said.
"So tell me, what are the things you like about him?"
"I like everything, except the fact that he has someone else." I answer directly.
She raised an eyebrow at me as if something could not be understood from what I said.
"You know the feeling, that we are like a normal married couple. All that really only changes when his girlfriend enters the scene."
"Do you think your husband likes you?"
I was immediately shaken, the bitterness spread into my feelings.
"I'm sure it's all lust for him. He only does it because he is indebted to Daddy."
I remember the two of us talking once when I was still in the hospital.
"So why did you agree to marry me?" I asked as we both ate.
He was stunned for a moment and looked at me.
"I am very grateful to your dad, I was just a child when my parents died."
There I remembered that maybe I did not see any of his family at our wedding, because they were gone.
"Our dads were best friends, so it was not difficult for him to understand me. He taught me everything in business and so on. So I have no right to reject him in his little favor." That was all he told me.
"The complexity of your life bitch, there's more drama than in Korean novels," she changed the mood.
I just smiled and looked outside the window.
I'm sure the two of them are together now.
The phone rang next to me and I answered it immediately.
"Hello Ma'am, I just wanted to tell you that someone is looking for you here in the lobby," my secretary said formally.
"Who?" I asked sparingly, then leaned myself in the swivel chair. Ayesha signaled to me that she was leaving, so I just nodded.
"Yhanna Hermedilla."
I was stunned for a moment, is that possible, or is it just the same name?
"Bring her up here." I said, then ended the call.
I did not make the mistake of guessing who was coming in when she entered.
Wearing a blue tight dress paired with her black stilettos she walked closer to me.
I motioned for her to take a seat.
"What brought you here Ms. Hermedilla?" I asked.
"I came here to give you this." She said seriously, then placed a brown envelope on my table.
I took it and looked at it. I almost crumpled the paper as I read it.
It's an annulment paper.
"Why are you giving me this?" I questioned.
She laughed at me and then crossed her arms.
"We both know that I am his girlfriend. Don't tell me you expect him to leave me for you?" she smirked.
I gave her a forced smile.
"I'm asking because it should be him giving me this." I explained.
"Since I was going to walk by your business on my way home, I decided to bring it to you. We just finished having lunch together, and he's busy, so I gave it to you."
So did they meet for this?
I could only answer with a nod.
I will never chase, if I do not want to. I can do nothing more.
I took my pen and immediately signed the signature, then returned it to her.
She was obviously surprised by what I did. She maybe expected that I would think about it more, or that it would take a while.
"You will take care of that too. Since you will meet again, right?" I avoided sounding sarcastic.
She just smiled demonically then stood up. "Of course, actually tonight. Tomorrow we will be together."
"Okay." I forced a strong response and watched her leave.
Trembling, I lowered the pen I had been using until it completely disappeared from my sight. I looked at my cellphone when it beeped. A text message.
Andrei:
'I can't go home now, I have a business meeting I need to go to. I'm on a flight to America. Don't forget to lock the door when you get home.'
I laughed a little after I read his text.
"You can admit it, you don't have to lie." I whispered as I stared at his message.
Another text came in from his number.
Andrei:
'We'll talk when I get back.'
What else do we need to talk about? How do we separate properly? Fuck.
My cellphone rang. My mom was calling.
I composed myself before answering that. "Yes Mom?"
"Dear...your daddy."
I shivered because of Mommy's loud sobs on the other end.
"W-What happened to Daddy?" I asked incredulously.
"He left us princess. Your daddy is gone."
No. No. No. Not now Daddy.
I feel cold. At the same time, my vision darkens. Mommy kept talking on the other line, but I did not understand all that.
Daddy...Daddy...
I forced myself to push on the intercom connecting to my secretary.
"Come...to my...office."
That was the last thing I said before everything became a blur.
