Chapter 89

Chapter 89

When Ella heard the doctor say Aurora had lost her memory, she was extremely worried.

Unable to accept such a cruel reality, she reached out again to hold Aurora.

"Aurora, I'm your mom. Come to mommy, okay? Mommy will take you to find your little brother."

Aurora acted as if she couldn't understand at all, shaking her head and clinging tightly to Joshua's neck.

Her little mouth said firmly, "I only want daddy. I don't want to be separated from daddy."

"But he's not your daddy."

Ella got a bit anxious, her voice rising for no reason.

"Listen to mommy, okay? Mommy will take you away."

However, the more anxious Ella became, the more scared Aurora got. Her emotions surged and she started crying again.

No matter what, she refused to leave Joshua.

Joshua was still holding her and couldn't bear it anymore. Looking at Ella, he scolded, "The doctor already said she's forgotten some things and might not remember you. Why are you so impatient? Are you that eager to take them and run off with Zachary?"

This Ella was truly ruthless - she didn't even care about her own children.

Her heart was like stone, cold and hard.

Ella realized she was indeed scaring Aurora. She immediately calmed down and gently tried to persuade Aurora again.

But no matter how she tried, Aurora wouldn't listen and refused to get down from Joshua.

Whenever Ella said he wasn't her daddy, she would cry, getting worse and worse.

Afraid she might get alkalosis again, Ella didn't dare say more. Looking at Joshua, she asked, "Can you help me stay with her for a bit?"

Joshua hadn't expected Aurora to suddenly mistake him for her father and cling to him.

Such a small, soft little child - he really couldn't bear to watch her cry so sadly.

But he couldn't keep staying with her like this.

After all, she wasn't his daughter.

And he was about to divorce Ella.

After a moment of silence, Joshua said, "You wait nearby. It'll be fine once she falls asleep."

Ella thought that made sense.

As long as Aurora fell asleep and Joshua could put her down, everything would be okay. She sat down nearby.

Thinking of something, Ella asked again, "Are you really going to be with Scarlett?"

She wouldn't care if Joshua was with any other woman.

But not Scarlett.

She was cunning and vicious, almost killing her and Aurora, and later causing Aiden's death.

Aiden definitely wouldn't want Joshua to be with such an evil woman.

She had to stop Scarlett from getting what she wanted.

Joshua looked at her and answered indirectly, "Would you even care?"

Hadn't Ella always said she'd make room for Scarlett?

Hadn't she always wanted him to be with Scarlett so she could walk away free?

Fine, he'd grant her wish.

It was the weekend now. On Monday, he'd go divorce her.

"Joshua, you can be with any woman, but not Scarlett. You absolutely cannot be with her, do you hear me?"

Ella urged desperately.

She didn't directly answer his question.

Joshua didn't hear what he wanted to hear and his tone turned cold. "Who I'm with isn't for you to order me around about."

He looked at Brian at the door and instructed, "Go have the lawyer draft the divorce agreement and deliver it to her to sign."

Looking at Ella again, Joshua told her, "We're getting divorced on Monday. As for who I marry, you have no right to interfere. And you - everything you owe the Thomas family, you'll have to pay back, every bit of it."

Once divorced, he wouldn't be polite to Ella anymore.

What was owed, he would collect.

He absolutely couldn't just let her take the children and live happily with another man.

Ella didn't care about the divorce.

She knew they would divorce anyway.

But if Scarlett married Joshua after the divorce, how could Aiden rest in peace?

Ella stubbornly stared at Joshua and reminded him once more, "I told you, Scarlett admitted to me herself that she pulled grandpa's oxygen tube. Joshua, you can't marry her."

"Enough."

Joshua wouldn't listen at all, his attitude even colder.

"Do you think Scarlett is like you? Ella, you're not worth a single hair on her head. No matter how much you slander her, you can't stop me from marrying her."

If it weren't to keep Ella out of prison, would he have agreed to marry Scarlett?

She committed the crime herself and still didn't know to repent.

She had unclear relationships with so many men and gave birth to someone else's child, yet now had the nerve to try to stop him from marrying someone else.

Joshua felt that if it weren't for her being young and having two children to care for, he wouldn't bother saving her.

Damn Ella, so ungrateful.

Ella wanted to speak but stopped herself.

Really?

In Joshua's heart, she wasn't worth a single hair on Scarlett's head?

Fine, she wouldn't try to persuade him anymore.

She'd find evidence herself that Scarlett tried to kill her and Aiden.

Joshua better not regret it then.

"Daddy, is she really my mommy?"

At this moment, Aurora suddenly lifted her head from Joshua's neck, looked at Ella, and asked weakly.

Ella quickly responded, "Aurora, I'm your mommy. Do you really not remember mommy?"

Seeing Aurora looking so thin and weak, and still unwilling to let her get close, her heart ached so much she didn't know what to do.

Joshua noticed Aurora staring at him expectantly but refusing to look at Ella.

He sighed and said patiently, "Yes, she's your mommy."

"Then why aren't daddy and mommy loving at all? Other people's daddies and mommies are very loving."

Aurora pouted, her red, swollen eyes flashing innocently.

However, her words directly stunned both adults.

They didn't understand why Aurora had suddenly become so perceptive, asking questions beyond her age's understanding.

Ella quickly told Aurora, "Aurora, he's not your daddy."

Hearing this, Aurora's little face scrunched up and she was about to cry again.

Then she threw herself at Joshua's neck again, her voice still tearful.

"I don't want that. I know you're my daddy. Daddy, please don't leave me, okay?"

Joshua didn't know what was wrong with him.

This clearly wasn't his child, but when Aurora cried, he couldn't help but soften.

In the end, he could only gently coax her, "Okay, okay, daddy won't leave you."

Joshua glared coldly at Ella. "If you want me to stay with her, shut up."

Ella had no choice but to shut up and turned to prepare some food for Aurora.

When she returned with the food, Aurora had already fallen asleep.

After Joshua gently laid her on the bed and covered her with a blanket, he bumped into Ella as he turned to leave.

He left her with these words, "I've returned Aurora to you. Remember, Monday morning at ten, see you at the courthouse."

When he said this, Joshua clearly felt pain in his chest.

Even though he didn't want to divorce.

Didn't want Ella to leave him.

But if they didn't divorce, how could he protect Ella from prison?

After all, she had admitted to murder herself.

Really unable to face Ella anymore, Joshua walked past her and left.

Watching Joshua's retreating figure.

Ella inexplicably felt desolate inside.
