Chapter 533: Reunion

When Allegra got Ambrose's reply, she thought he was just being polite.

Even though she had confirmed with him several times that he would come back, she still found it hard to believe.

Was Ambrose really that dependable?

Her impression of Ambrose improved a bit.

"So, you're not happy to see me?" Ambrose asked, feeling a bit speechless.

"How could that be?" Allegra replied, "It's called a surprise, you know?"

Ambrose smiled, accepting her explanation.

"Come on in, George and Nico are inside," Allegra said quickly.

"Alright," Ambrose nodded, "By the way, I brought a gift for your little one."

"Wow," Allegra took the gift and teased, "You've really changed, now you're even bringing gifts!"

Ambrose ignored her and walked straight into the hall.

As soon as he left, Allegra was filled with excitement. She quickly texted Hazel: [Ambrose is back, really back! He just walked into the hall.]

Hazel replied: [I told you he would come, but you didn't believe me.]

Allegra: [How was I supposed to know I had such charm?]

Hazel sent a speechless emoji.

At that moment, Hazel looked up and indeed saw Ambrose's tall figure standing out in the crowd.

"Ambrose," George called out to him.

Ambrose quickly went over and sat down.

"When did you get back?" George asked.

"Yesterday afternoon."

"Why didn't you let us know you were coming back?" Nico, sitting nearby, sounded a bit annoyed. "What, now that your career is booming, you look down on us?"

"My career might be booming, but can I compare to George's assets?" Ambrose replied, feeling a bit helpless.

Nico shrugged and didn't say much more.

"When are you leaving?" George asked again.

"The day after tomorrow. I'm going home tomorrow to see my parents," Ambrose answered.

"So, you didn't leave us much time, did you?" Nico interjected.

"This trip was a bit rushed; there's still a lot to handle over there," Ambrose explained. "But there will be plenty of chances to get together. We can do it today, let's not leave until we're drunk!"

"Ambrose, you've really changed for the better! Can you stop being so serious? I can't handle it," Nico said, feeling exasperated.

"What do you want then?" Ambrose asked.

"I...," Nico was caught off guard and couldn't find the words, "Drink!"

"Let's drink!"

The food hadn't been served yet, and the host hadn't returned to the banquet hall, but the two of them started shouting.

George was about to stop them when a woman suddenly sat down next to Ambrose.

Ambrose's hand holding the wine glass paused for a moment. He didn't need to turn his head to know who it was.

Ambrose involuntarily tightened his fingers and slowly continued his actions.

Hazel glanced at Ambrose and greeted Kenna warmly, "Kenna, you're here."

"Yes," Kenna replied.

"Are you alone?"

"Yes."

Ambrose's fingers seemed to tighten even more.

"Be careful, even if you're alone," Hazel advised.

"I know," Kenna smiled.

It seemed like nothing had changed, yet everything had. Ambrose prepared to pour himself a drink.

George called out, "The banquet hasn't started yet, let's respect the host and drink later."

"True," Nico agreed quickly, "Let's wait for Lucius and Allegra to kick things off."

Ambrose silently put down the wine bottle.

At the large dining table, Ambrose kept chatting with Nico and George.

Kenna was conversing with Hazel.

Hazel's belly was quite large, and her due date was approaching, so their conversation mostly revolved around the baby.

"Do you know if it's a boy or a girl?" Kenna asked.

"No," Hazel said helplessly, "Every time I try to find out, the baby hides. Now that it's bigger, it's even harder to see. I've decided to just go with the flow, I'll be happy either way."

"I can't accept that," George suddenly chimed in.

Hazel gave him a glare.

Kenna chuckled softly. She knew George was desperate for a daughter.

She couldn't imagine what George would do if Hazel gave birth to a son.

Or maybe, it wouldn't matter?

To George, Hazel was the most important. As long as it was their love's fruit, he would love the child deeply.

Before the party started, Allegra came over to their table.

"Why did you come alone?" Kenna teased.

"What else could I do?"

"Where's your little one?" Kenna asked.

"Oh, my mom is watching him," Allegra said, "He's just eating, drinking, and pooping, not much fun."

"How are you doing?" Allegra asked Kenna.

"What do you mean?" Kenna was puzzled.

"Your baby," Allegra said directly.

As soon as she spoke, a water glass on the table tipped over.

Everyone looked over.

Since the banquet hadn't started, Ambrose, Nico, and George were drinking tea.

Ambrose's glass had fallen onto the table, spilling tea everywhere.

Ambrose calmly picked up the glass, grabbed a few napkins, and slowly wiped the table. His face showed no extra expression as he continued chatting with George and Nico.

The spilled glass seemed like just an ordinary accident.

"I'm doing well," Kenna said, "I used to feel sick to my stomach, but now I'm fine. I can eat and sleep well."

"You seem to have gained some weight," Allegra observed.

"I've gained five pounds."

"That's not too bad," Allegra said.

After chatting for a while, Allegra was called away by Lucius to prepare for the banquet.

After Allegra left, the table quieted down.

George, Ambrose, and Nico seemed to have caught up.

Kenna stood up to get the teapot, but Ambrose picked it up and poured her a cup of tea.

"Thank you," Kenna said politely.

Ambrose nodded, and they fell into silence again.

In the silence, Ambrose finally asked, "You're pregnant."

"Yes."

"That was quick," Ambrose said with a smile, hiding his sadness.

He hadn't expected Kenna to get pregnant with Brooks' child so soon.

He thought, at least after they got married.

But now, he hadn't heard about their wedding, maybe they hadn't had a ceremony.

Ambrose pressed his lips together, not wanting to think more.

"Why are you alone?" Ambrose asked, "Where's Brooks?"

"He went back to Stonebridge," Kenna replied.

"Is he recovering well?"

"Yes, he's using a prosthetic, and it's going okay," Kenna said.

Ambrose nodded silently.

After a while, he asked, "Is Brooks still so busy?"

Kenna was pregnant, and Brooks wasn't by her side?
