We board Vlad's plane. He's just staring at us. I have a feeling he's as pissed about this as I am but for a very different reason. I came here for answers, not to find a potential mate!
I say with a smirk as I look at Vlad and Marcus, “You're both having trouble reading my friend Katie aren't you?”
Vincent grins proudly, “Love, you were right.”
I wink, “I usually am.”
Katie giggles, “Joke's on you guys. My bestie is SuperWoman!”
Marcus glares at me, “You’ve done something to her.”
“Of course I have. I trust no one for good reason. Now Marcus explain yourself,” I demand.
He tilts his head back in surprise, “I didn't introduce myself.”
Which he should have done. I knew his name because I heard Vlad say it to him. The problem is that it was as we arrived before we even got out of the car. Why Vlad might be a potential mate even though I hope otherwise.
I glare at both Marcus and Vlad as I speak, “No which was rude, then you try to not just read my mind but Katie's which I made it clear was off limits. This fresh start isn't starting off well for you boys.”
“Vincent control your woman,” Vlad barks.
Vincent gives me a wink as he addresses his brother, “Brother that was the wrong choice of words.”
As I think of what I can do that won't affect the plane, my eyes begin to swirl. I elect to bind them both in metal, which is extremely durable and since it's daylight and the sun is now shining through the windows, which I won't allow to close, and they won't be breaking them either.
“What the hell!” Vlad yells.
Yes, he's immensely attractive like my other mates, but he needs to learn how to talk to me. Respect is earned no matter who this crazy twist of fate thinks I should be bound to.
Calmly I speak, “Oh you won't be burning them either. Even if you manage to block out the sun. They're made of tantalum carbide and hafnium carbide,
so you'd burn the plane down before them, while I'd just teleport my group to safety.”
Vincent smirks, “Vlad, you should've assumed that my mate would be creative, intelligent, and cunning.”
“Now let's stop attempting to read minds and have a chat like civilized beings,” I suggest.
“I suggest you all conduct yourselves as if we are having a formal meeting or I will allow my mate to do as she sees fit,” Eric says with a pleased grin.
I laugh, “So gentlemen don't provoke me,” I said as I released their bindings.
Vincent shakes his head, “We are in for a very long trip.”
Vlad looks me in the eye briefly, “Start from the beginning.”
So I do. I tell them of my time at the orphanage, college, the magazine, and meeting my mates. “Wait!” Marcus yells.
Vincent nods, “It's all true.”
Vlad furrows his brow, “She’s not a vampire, wolf, or even human.”
“You sure?” I tease as I sit on Vincent's lap and shift to my white wolf. Vincent pets my ears and kisses the top of my head. I shift back.
I notice the look they're giving me so I call them out, “Sorry to disappoint but my clothing stays. Only my mates get that privilege.”
“Witch then,” Marcus states.
“Nope!” I exclaim as I port to the bedroom in the back of the plane. Then I port right in between Vlad and Marcus.
“What the…” Vlad yells.
While he is thoroughly confused, I use my vampiric speed to sit back on Vincent's lap. Vincent kisses my cheek as he says proudly, “And that's not even breaking the surface of what she can do.”
“Or at what we can now either,” Eric adds.
Marcus blinks as he says, “There was no portal or artifact.”
Sam grins, “She is not a witch, man.”
Marcus is still in disbelief, “Yes, her demonstration proved that and there wasn't a shadow trail either.”
Vlad’s jaw drops, “There is no way!”
Vincent says smugly, “Oh, but there is because of who she is not just what.”
Trying to rationalize his thoughts, Vlad says, “There was no shadow trail which leaves only two alternatives and both are highly unlikely. Well, I'm going to need a lot of time to research this.”
Smirking, Vincent says to Vlad, “I told you so!”
After my gaze flicked to Vlad, I looked at my guys, “I will need to create that unfriend button.”
“Eva!” Eric exclaims.
Sam shakes his head, “I am with Eva on this.”
Vincent rolls his eyes, “Of course, you do, but for once Sam I do agree with you.”
Katie worriedly looked around, “Wait! Who are you talking about?”
Sam growls, “Dracula.”
Katie’s eyes widen, “No way! One Vincent is plenty, so l agree with Sam!”
“Hey!” Vincent yells.
Katie says to Vincent, “What? You’re an ass, but for some reason Eva loves you.”
“Katie, I kept you from hugging that grizzly bear,” Vincent reminds her.
“Because you knew I'd make you suffer if something happened to Katie while I was off at the pack house,” I tell him.
“Which house?” Marcus asks.
“Two houses, actually,” Sam grins wolfishly.
“Oh yeah, I forgot about that,” I say.
Sam chuckles, “Kim hasn't!”
I laugh, “I bet that the guys haven't either.”
Vincent glares at me, “Eva you weren't supposed to use your powers much, remember.”
I touched his face, “I didn't, I just used cunning and speed as I told you.”
Sam chuckles as he recalls the race, “But she did walk on water though.”
Vincent smiles as he laughs, “I taught her that.”
“Only because you hoped I’d end up all wet,” I retorted.
He winks, “You did later.”
“Not funny,” I huff.
Eric grins, “It was and still is.”
“Be happy we are on a plane right now. Because I can make it so you'll have to wait until the next full moon,” I threaten.
Vincent grins devilishly, “You know that it wouldn't work because we will always find you.”
“Hold up a second, vampires don't haze,” Marcus says.
“But yet we do and even worse during the full moon,” Eric explains.
“That's unheard of. Yes, vampires love sex and with our mates, there's nothing like it, but we don't lose ourselves to it,” Marcus says.
“Yet we do,” Eric tells him as Vlad is just looking on in disbelief.
“I lost two days this past full moon,” I tell Marcus.
Vincent nods, “Same but I did have glimpses.”
Sam adds, “As the wolf of the bunch, I'm more used to it but yet there are still a few fuzzy areas.”
“Well, I know way more than I ever wanted. I tried to hose you guys down!” Katie reminds us.
Vincent raises an eyebrow at her, “Yes and you made me have to buy a new chandelier because of it and we weren't fully hazed then.”
“Well I didn't know, the moon had just risen. But I know what to look for now,” Katie says in her defense.
“What’s that?” Marcus asks her.
“Their eyes. They swirl with vivid colors and sparkle brighter than a star. It's so beautiful,” she explains.
“Do mine do that?” Steven asks her.
“They swirl but are not as vivid and they don't sparkle,” she tells him.
Still shocked, Marcus says, “Well, that’s certainly new information.”
Katie asks him how old he is and he tells her that he's 900 years old. She couldn't help herself, “So Vincent is older.”
“Don't even make a joke,” Vincent warns her.
“Or what?” she taunts.
I facepalm. Vincent touches her arm and her hair stands up. I shake my head, “Really, you too! Crinus Muto.”
Katie’s hair reverts back to its original style and she thanks me.
“Vincent, you never had abilities,” Vlad says.
Vincent grins, “I do now.”
Marcus wants us to tell their maker, but I won't know if I should until I meet him. “We don't really know how these things even happened. Just that we were all mostly normal until we met each other,” I say.
Vincent shakes his head, “Eva, you’ve never been normal.”
I roll my eyes, “Ugh!”
———-Marcus’s POV———
In my 900 years of walking this Earth as a vampire, I have never encountered a being with all of the abilities that Eva has, and it appears that there is more. Amazing, truly amazing. Artemis needs to be made aware of this. He lived during the time of the White Wolf. But according to him, she was a witch that became a werewolf. Eva still appears human, at least based on her scent. I wonder if her blood tastes human? I will have to ask Eva or Eric because I know Vincent won't share. He's too much like Vlad in that way. What's his is his, end of discussion.
