Chapter 100: Chapter 100
No one was in the room.
Suki hastened to the controls and tapped away at the computer, awakening the wall of monitors that hosted the view for the cameras across the warehouse. Turns out all the humans who were working here for Hadeon had gone to fight the werewolves who had come to aid Reynard and Brendan. No wonder she hadn’t seen any humans, or any of the werewolves come to help – for every one werewolf there was, there were about four humans against them.
She caught her mates fighting on one of the screens, and a wave of relief took over her when she saw they were still trying to hold themselves back.
Clicking away on the computer, she found what she needed and clicked to initiate the sequence. The screen flickered: “Plan of action will initiate in 300 seconds.”
Step one, complete.
Good, keep going, Suki told herself.
Moving away from the computer, she rummaged through the drawers and pulled out a device and slid it into her pocket. She looked around the room and noticed another exit. She marched to the door and opened it to see it led outside – perfect.
A sharp pain twisted in Suki’s head. She winced and whined, placing her hand on her head. She wasn’t sure if it was Hadeon trying to get his mental hold on her or if it was the adrenaline wearing off.
Either way, there was no time to waste.
A crash through the other door and destroying the entire wall, the room shook, sending Suki stumbling onto the ground. Shuffling herself to her rear, she looked up to meet a pair of glowing red eyes.
Hadeon, back in his wolf form, towered over everything in the room. He was panting not out of tiredness but out of rage. “Mine,” he growled.
“You want me?” she taunted him, groaning through the pain throbbing in her head. She forced herself to her feet, and dizziness struck her, but she tried hard to withhold the struggle on her face. “Then come and get me.”
He snarled and dived for her.
Tapping into the last essence of her wolfspeed that the adrenaline would allow her, she sped away, just about dodging Hadeon and rushing back towards the grounds where Reynard and Brendan were still fighting.
She had minutes left. The temporary fire that burned in her veins was dwindling rapidly. But minutes were all she needed to execute her plan.
Behind her, Hadeon followed rapidly, having had enough of the game and wanting to end this.
Shooting past Brendan and Reynard, Suki ran as fast as she could towards the gate, but her rate of distance she could cover was decreasing.
Keep going, she growled in her mind.
Hadeon flashed in front of her, forcing Suki to stop in her tracks and look up at him. “Stop running,” he hissed.
“If you want me to stop, you’ll have to break my legs.”
He smirked. “Don’t tempt me.”
The colour drained from Suki’s face as he raised his clasped claws above his head and thrusted his fists down towards her.
Suki leapt out of the way just in time, landing on her shoulder and crying out in pain.
“Hmm,” Hadeon hummed, creeping closer to her. “I’ll break you for messing me around, and I’ll fix you once I make you mine.”
“I’d rather die,” she retorted, forcing herself up to dodge his next lunge for her. “You’re pathetic,” she panted, resting her hand against a pillar. “The most powerful werewolf to ever exist and you can’t even catch me with my limited strength.”
He roared loudly, eyes ablazed with rage. With all his strength, he lunged for her, diving right into the pillar as she pushed herself out of the way.
Suki landed on the ground, on her back, but before she could catch her breath, the pillar cracked and broke, falling to the ground, bringing down everything it held. She gasped and rolled out of the way just in time before large debris could crush her.
“I’ll bring you to the brink of death and have you begging me to save you,” Hadeon stormed, charging for her again. “And only after you’ve pleaded again and again will I save you.”
She rushed away, leaping to dodge his aggressive attacks. More and more of the surrounding supports were shattered at the wrath of Hadeon’s power. She pounced onto a secure pillar, climbing up it before pushing her feet on it to dive away from it as Hadeon collided with that one also.
Scanning the area, which was surrounded by debris apart from one open area. Suki panted as she rushed towards the free gap, but the pang in her head was too much to ignore. She kept pushing forward and forward towards the free area until–
“Ah!” she cried out, her knees buckling. Catching herself on her palms, she groaned, “No, not now… Not yet.”
She tried to keep moving.
One more step.
Another.
Another.
Just keep moving.
Yet, it was too late; she had pushed herself to limits even the adrenaline wouldn’t have been able to help her with. She struggled to keep her eyes open; the weight of her own body was too much to hold up, and her head was pounding.
A giant claw wrapped around her and pinned her to the ground on her back. Hadeon snarled, bringing his face right up to hers.
She turned her head away from him and whimpered, too weak to cry out.
“So close yet so far,” he laughed. “Hmm… I suppose I can’t mark you like this.” He shifted back into his human form and smiled smugly.
She squirmed, but she was in no state to fight anymore. At this point, she was lucky to still be conscious.
Hadeon brushed his lips against her neck and whispered in her ear, “I want to break you, but not to the point that can’t be fixed. But first…” he trailed off, taking hold of her chin and turning her head to look towards her mates.
“N-No…” she exhaled.
Reynard had Brendan pinned down on the ground, his hand clasped tightly around his throat. Even with her reduced vision, Suki knew the hold Rey had on Brendan was tight. There was rage in the way he was holding him down, but the pain in his eyes was enough to break her lasting positive spirit into a million pieces.
