Chapter 76 76
CHAPTER SEVENTY-SIX
LUCIAN'S P.O.V
My hands trembled as I took her status in my arms. Who could have done this to her? My eyes were red as I sobbed, letting my tears stain her stone cheek. I didn't need to check, I was so sure she was the one.
"Calm down, Lucian. If there was a way to turn her to this then there is a way to change her back."
I hoisted the statue over my shoulders and made my way back to where the others were.
Jake was the first person to see me, his eyes widened and he dropped the juice he was sipping.
"What the hell, Lucian?!"
"Its Aurora." I growled. "This has to be the work of a witch, she's been cursed." I tried to hide my breaking voice.
Mirabel approached slowly and touched the statue's face, she jerked it back and covered her mouth, her eyes wide and teary.
"Goddess! She...she's a stone! What happened? How did this happen?"
I shook my head, "There's no time for questions right now. Where can we get a white witch."
"A white witch?" Eli asked, his eyebrows up to his forehead.
"Yes, this says curse all over it."
"I know where to get one." He answered.
I slapped him on the back.
"Great. You go get her, we'll take Aurora with us."
He hesitated.
"I'll follow you guys back to the pack house..."
"Why?"
"Because I need to reach the pack house before getting there." That was his reply, I choose not to argue.
"Let's go."
Everyone sprung into action and we pilled back into the car. I made sure to hold her stone form with utmost care, gently running my fingers over her face. Once we got to the pack, we took her to a secluded spot at the back of the house and escorted Eli and Jake back to the car.
I looked him in the eyes as he started the car.
"Hey, be careful and hurry. We'll be waiting, okay? I'm counting on you, please."
He nodded, his eyes meeting mine with resolution.
"You can trust me, I got this."
"Just wait for us." Jake yelled as they drove away.
We stood by the junction and stared at the cloud of dust they made in their wake.
I was quiet as I ruminated in my head.
Aurora. Who did this to you?
"Hey, we'll get her back." Mirabel said softly while squeezing my hand.
Shawn beside her nodded. "Like she said, you'll get her back."
"I know." I sighed, but the thing is when? What if she comes and it doesn't work? No, I shouldn't be thinking of such bad thoughts.
"Let's get back to the pack house, I need to keep watching over her in case something changes."
They nodded in agreement and we turned back and headed to the house only for a large, white van to suddenly whoosh past us, leaving a large cloud of dust. We didn't put our mind to it and just kept on walking.
"Mom, what are you doing outside?" Mirabel called as we sighted her mother just at the entrance of the house with a smile on her face.
"Welcome dear, how was your picnic? I just made a great sale and got rid of some things we didn't need. I feel great."
Alarm rang in my head, with speed, I rushed to where I had kept Aurora.
I gasped.
"She's not here."
I ran back, stopping in front of her like
someone being chased.
"Luna Stellar, have you seen any stone statue?"
She nodded, "A statue of a young woman right, yes."
Hope flared in my chest.
"Where is it?"
She cocked her head, her eyes round.
"I just sold it."
"What!"
"What!"
"Why!"
Three screams rang out simultaneously, she stared at us with confusion in her eyes.
"What is it?"
"Why did you sell it?" Mirabel almost sobbed.
"Well, today is Cleaning day and I saw the statue as one of the useless things your father likes to bring, so I sold it."
I turned to Mirabel.
"You never told me today was a cleaning day."
"Because I didn't think it was relevant." She yelled.
"Hey, let's calm down." Shawn said softly. "Ma'am, please who did you sell it to?"
"The van that just left here took it."
We glanced at each other.
"A white van?"
"Big van?"
"Yes."
"Where is it headed to?"
"Its actually leaving the pack right now."
"Its leaving the pack." I muttered under my breath. "We can still catch it if we run fast. Let's go." I broke into a run, Shawn and Mirabel behind me.
"But what's happening?" Luna Stellar yelled, her voice laced with confusion.
"You sold Aurora!" Mirabel yelled.
The wind brushed past me like blades of air, I only saw the trees blurring as I ran with my speed.
"Why didn't we take the car?" Shawn yelled.
"Because I'm much faster with my alpha speed." I replied back.
"Well, good for you, I'm not an alpha." He huffed.
Mirabel spoke. "You are a beta, that's still something. I'm an alpha too."
"I'm still faster than you." He sounded happy for that. I shook my head and thankfully spotted the van speeding ahead.
"Stop bickering, I see the van."
We increased our speed, Shawn and I went on each sides of the car, overtaking it until we finally stopped a long way ahead. Its speed reduced and it stopped once it reached us. We were panting as the passenger door opened and a middle aged man with bushy beard and a baseball cap stepped out. He was frowning but his eyes were wide with shock.
"He's a human, Lucian." Mirabel noted.
"I can see that. Thank you, Sherlock." I gritted and made my way over to the man.
"Hello."
"Did you kids just overtake my van in a race and stopped....in the middle of the road? I could have hit ya!" He exclaimed throwing his hands up.
"But you didn't. I'll get to the point sir, did you purchase a statue of a young woman?"
A grin spread on his face as he nodded.
"Yep I did, and got a good bargain for it too."
"We want it back." Mirabel growled, folding her hands over her chest. He glanced at her, a frown on his face.
"No way."
