CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTY-FIVE
AURORA'S P.O.V
"...but I swear to the goddess, if I hear you call her any names that are not her names, then to hell with who you are or may be, I will personally sink my fangs into your neck. You have no bloody idea what Aurora has been through, I wish I could tell you but its better she does it herself. Claiming she had it all easy when you don't know anything! Shut the fuck up!!!" She roared the last sentence, shocking everyone out of their skin.
The room fell silent, and Auron's eyes widened in shock as he stared at Talia, the place she had slapped on his cheek still a light pink.
I placed a hand on her shoulder, trying to calm her down.
"It's okay, Talia. I got this."
"You do?" She huffed, panting, not talking her eyes off him. "Because I still got energy to take care of him."
I nodded, signaling Griffin to come calm her down. He got the message and immediately took her gentle, running a have up and down her back. That's Talia for you, always trying to defend me. She knows best what I have been through, so she has everything right to be angry.
I faced Auron again, his face still had that shocked and dazed look of disbelief, I mean, a stranger basically slapped at yelled at him. Even I would be kissed and confused at the same time.
"Auron, there are some things I want to tell you that I hope will clear your misunderstanding of me. Can you please listen?"
His gaze locked onto mine, and for a moment, I saw a flicker of uncertainty. But then his expression hardened, and he looked away.
"I don't know if I will believe you," he spat. "I...I don't know what there is to listen...but...humor me. Tell me before I lose my patience."
I took a deep breath, trying to calm my racing heart, Lucian face me a nod and stepped back.
"Auron, I know you think I knew about you all along, but I swear, I didn't. I found out about you when you took me. That day you showed me your face, that was really the first time I was seeing you or knowing that you existed."
His gaze snapped back to mine, his eyes narrowed.
"Liar! I sent you letters, I tried to reach you. But you ignored me! Do you think I'm going to believe such a stupid lie?"
I shook my head.
"That's what you say but I'm telling you, I didn't, I never received any letters from you or anybody." I swallowed the lump growing in my throat. "Auron, while you thought I was living my life, having fun....I was just...I was actually an Omega. I was nothing."
He chuffed out a breath and shook his head.
"No, I refuse to believe it. He...he said you were in a good family, having...everything to yourself...."
I frowned who was he talking about?
"He? Who is he?"
"Elder Mikhail. He told me...he was the one who...who...picked me..."
I stepped closer, crouched to his level and stared into his eyes.
"We'll talk about that later, I just want to tell you my life and later, if you feel like it, you can tell me about yours, okay?"
His eyes looked misty and stormy as he stared back at me, after a while, he nodded.
"Okay, like I said, I was only an Omega in the pack, with no parents. I grew up in an orphanage and left immediately I was sixteen. Talia can attest to that, she knows everything because we met when we were kids and she...in fact she knows everything."
"Yeah and that's stating facts!" She yelled, then she smirked at Mirable, "First best friend."
Mirabel just rolled her eyes while I shook my head and snapped.
"I'm trying to be serious here."
"Sorry."
"As I was saying, I had no parents, no guardian and nobody to take care of me. I worked in a bar just to make money enough to feed myself and go to school. The place I lived in wasn't even good enough..."
"It wasn't even a house, it was a shed, you could barely have adequate facilities there." Talia said softly this time.
"Yeah, she's right."
His expression faltered, and for a moment, I saw a glimmer of uncertainty. But then his mask slipped back into place, and he said.
"How is that true? Maybe you're just trying to get me to pity you, are you trying to manipulate me?"
I stifled a groan, closing my eyes while feeling a sense of frustration.
"Auron, please. Listen to me. I've been through hell, just like you. I lived along people who only saw me as the lowest of low. I was nothing but a tiny, inconsistent omega. How Talia still stayed with me even with our status difference still makes me want to cry. And as for Lucian..."
"Me?" Lucian's high tone siybdded behind me.
"Yeah, him. People like him wouldn't have noticed me if it hasn't been for the mate bond. I would have still been just a bar girl serving him and the other elites."
"Not like you didn't make me work for it." He muttered behind me but I ignored him.
"So please, why can't you believe me? I'm begging you. I didn't know about you, but I wish I had. I wish we could have grown up together, as siblings."
His eyes began to flicker with emotions, he shook his head slowly.
"So, you mean, you were an orphan? You weren't in a good family, that took care of you? That made you feel loved?"
"I wasn't in a family but that didn't mean I wasn't loved. I had Talia, then Lucian came along, then my other friends. I have them because things worked out for me."
"Then who did Elder Mikhail send those letters to? Who received them and who replied them?"
