Chapter 66
Lalya's pov.
Damon caught me on the spot, I was on my way leaving Asher's office when he suddenly appeared, blocking my path. His expression wasn't the best either, eyes flashed with curiosity eagerly waiting for an answer.
“What are you doing here?” He questioned, his eyes searching for answers. “This is my cousin's office, Melody. Why are you here all of a sudden? Was he with you earlier? I've been searching for you for the past couple of minutes, I almost thought you went back home!”
“No, no, no, I didn't go back home. I just wanted to take a stroll before I head back to our room, just wanted some fresh air Damon..am I not allowed to do that or is it banned too?” I responded, “I saw Asher a couple of minutes ago and he invited me for a cup of tea, it's been cold lately so I agreed to it!”
“Oh cousin, you're here! My precious brother, you're everywhere Damon, that's amazing..I guess?” Asher interrupted, opening the door. “Were you searching for your wife? I'm sorry I stole her for a few minutes brother, I just wanted someone to have a cup of tea with. No hard feelings brother!”
“If you wanted company, why did you call my wife and not yours?” Damon retorted, his tone sharp. He was visibly unhappy with my closeness with Asher, our interactions have been limited for the past few days due to the presence of Damon. He never wants Asher and I to have a personal conversation nor should we interact, he was visibly jealous and insecure of Asher.
“It's not a big deal, cousin, it's fine if you have a drink with my partner. I really don't care about it, you're free to do so” Asher added jokingly, “We were taught to always share, right?” He added spitefully, locking eyes with Damon.
“I have no interest in sharing what's mine with you. Find yours and leave mine the fuck alone!” Damon fired back, snapping my hands and dragging me away. I dared not to utter any word until we got back to our room. He slammed the door behind us, slamming me right on the bed. “You stay here until I get back, got that?”
“Where are you going?” I asked, trying to get a hold of him. “You shouldn't have said those things to him earlier, you misunderstood the whole scenario. Nothing was going on, you didn't have to say those hurtful words. Don't you trust me?” I said getting all defensive. I have a game I need to play amongst two cousins, one has to be close enough to get my revenge, and one for my survival and status as a Luna.
“You wouldn't understand Melody, don't worry about it. Just stay away from Asher, I don't want you around him anymore until we leave here!” He instructed, “He is off limits to you for now until we get back home. No interactions whatsoever, I don't want any of that. Got it?”
This was an impossible task Damon asked me to execute, it's pointless trying to keep me away from Asher because he'll always find a way back in my life. Just like how he did when I got betrothed to Damon, he had to reappear to ruin my new identity. My feelings for both men are still unsure, I was skeptical about how I felt for both of them.
My feelings for Asher are quite complicated and I can't let it affect or get in the way of executing and getting my revenge on him and everyone who failed and betrayed me when I was still the high priestess. On the other hand, my feelings for Damon were still young and sprouting, it was yet to fully develop because of the way things were planned out between the past Melody and him.
“Why baby, that's impossible for me”I responded, “We're in his pack, have you forgotten about that? It's impossible trying to find my way here when he's the Alpha of this kingdom. We have no other option but to stay here on his terms and conditions or we go back home. That's the only option to escape from him, else we'll be bounded to his set rules and principles baby”
“Why are you defensive Melody, are you having sex with my cousin?” He snapped, “Why do you keep talking about him every damn time! All the time is about Asher, Asher! Do you have a crush on him or something? I noticed the weird closeness you and him developed recently, ever since you met him at the dinner party. Are you cheating on me already? It has not been three months since we became officially and you're fucking my cousin already?”
“What are you talking about Damon, why do you keep misunderstanding this!” I yelled, startling him. He was confused and at the same time surprised by my sudden outburst, his eyes searched for answers to my reaction but got none as I slammed the door right behind him, storming off.
“This wench is still here?” A voice said In the dark, “She really pisses me off, I wish I can just bulge those ugly eyes of hers out with my heels. She looks so much like Layla, it creeps me out honestly!” The voice continued which made me recognize who it was.
It was Cassandra and Isabella, they were in the hallway whispering silently to each other. I thought they might have gotten over the hatred they had for me as Layla but I was wrong. Instead, they hated me more than I could ever imagine.
“You're right mum, she looks so much like her. I thought it was Lalya when I saw her earlier, it almost made me shit my pants!” Isabella whined like a lost puppy, “She has been close to Asher lately and I freaking hate it. He has been ignoring me because of that wench, Mom!”
“Don't worry, I'll figure out a way to reveal her identity. I'm certain she's not who she says she is, Isabella. We need to find out the truth about her before she gets accepted fully into the crescent pack!” Cassandra responded, comforting her lost puppy of a daughter.
Cassandra can't figure out my identity at all cost, “Should I come clean to Damon about everything before he finds out or should I keep playing my role as Melody?”
