Chapter 30 Prophecy’s Deceit
"I was once a human, and if I were given the chance to be born again, I would ask to be human again and die as a human. But what can I do now? I am a lost vampire, mateless, alone, and damn ugly."
My knees weakened, and I grabbed the chair I was sitting on earlier.
"Before I sit down, I just have a question. Is the time in this place the same as the time in the whole of Ihor? We're not in the human world, right?" I asked to be sure. Because if our time is different from Kaizer's now, I won't waste any time answering my own curiosity because I'll rush back to Aetherio. I don't want Kaizer to wait for me again for so long. I don't want to see the fear in his eyes again as my distance from the mirror gets smaller.
"You're still in the world of vampires."
I sighed and sat down again.
Where in their world did I end up?
"I'm not in Igor, am I?"
Because if I were in one of the kingdom of Igor, Kaizer would have felt my presence. Even I can't feel his. Which empire am I in?
"You're in the kingdom of Avirife, which is under the empire of Nalva."
As far as I know, the world of vampires is divided into five big islands, and I only know Igor out of the four. So, I'm in the empire of the enemies.
"Didn't you say that you were also one of the four women before? Isn't it true that only Igor has a mirror? What are you doing here? Isn't this place an enemy of Igor?" I asked her.
"Because my life would be in more danger if I stayed in Igor," she answered briefly, which confused me even more.
"Dangerous? Don't you know that I'm more dangerous in this place? We're more dangerous here if they find out we came from Igor. What are your illusions for? Why did you trick me?" I tried to calm myself down, even though I was starting to get nervous. What if the vampires here suddenly find out that the woman who could stop them from completely taking over Igor is here?
"Like I told you, Saera. I called you to this place to save you from the hands of that disgusting empire. They're just going to use you like they did to me. They're just going to make you a tool."
I don't understand what she's saying.
"Are you saying that the Lancasters are dangerous? Are you saying that Igor is dangerous?"
My eyes narrowed at her. Why is she badmouthing the empire she came from?
"From what you see on my face, Saera? Do you think I got better in their hands? Don't you wonder where the remaining three women are? Why am I the only one you're talking to at this time?"
I stopped at what she said. Where are the remaining three? What will happen to us after we're all together?
"Where are they?" I asked weakly.
"They're all dead, Saera. I'm the only one left out of the four chosen women. They sacrificed the lives of the four of us for the personal safety of the whole empire of Igor, and I'm the only one who escaped and survived. We're innocent people living in our world, Saera, and our arrival in this world is not destined, but a curse. This burn... this burn on my face is from the first prince. The prince who owns the power of fire."
With every tear that fell from the woman in front of me, my heart tightened. I also don't understand why there's a part of me that seems to agree with what she's saying. I also heard from my grandfather that the four of us women will strengthen the whole empire of Igor, but in what way? Does this include sacrificing our own lives?
"Is the prince who did that to you still alive?" I asked her gently.
"He's a king now. The king of Veilshore."
I couldn't help but hate the woman's king.
"How about your mate? Did he just let you be sacrificed? What about the mates of the three remaining women? Did they just let them die?" I asked, confused. I don't know who to believe anymore. What is this I'm finding out, Kaizer?
"From the beginning, they already knew what would happen to us, Saera. We were too blinded by love. Love that we thought was real, but they're just using it to get what they want from us. So that every drop of our blood won't disagree."
My tears started to fall here. What is this I'm hearing, Kaizer? Why can't I find it in any corner of my heart that the woman in front of me is lying?
"Are you saying that what they're showing me now isn't real? Are you saying that what I hear from every vampire I meet in the whole of Igor is just a lie?"
I tapped my chest a few times because I could already feel it hurting.
Why can't I see in this woman's eyes that she's not telling the truth? Why do I only see the truth in her eyes?
Kaizer's smiles at me? His hugs and his sweet words to me? Is that also part of the Wisteria getting what they need from me?
"I don't believe you. He said he loved me... he said that before I went into the mirror. He almost killed the vampires in Aetherio just to stop me. Give me proof... I can't believe you," I tried to convince myself that Kaizer wasn't using me. He's not using me, he said he loved me.
"Follow me."
Even though my knees were shaking, I forced myself to follow the woman. As we walked, I could see where our feet were going. The moment we stopped walking, the strength in my knees suddenly disappeared, and I completely knelt on the cold floor. My tears kept falling.
What the hell is this, Kaizer? It couldn't be...
"The three chosen women before. They're resting peacefully..." the woman said gently.
Even though they don't have lives anymore, their beauty is overflowing.
"They ran out of breath when every part of their body was covered in a thick block of ice."
The lifeless bodies of the three women are covered in ice.
"No... no, I don't want to hear... please..." I begged in my shaking voice.
I don't want to hear anything she's going to say.
"Only one person has this power in this world, Saera."
Fuck!
"Please stop... I don't want to hear. Please..."
"They were killed by the prince of Wisteria..."
