Chapter 100 Dare to Touch Moon, I'll Take Your Life!
Ethan stood frozen, staring at Alexander with shock and wariness.
Meeting Alexander's gaze, he knew the man wasn't joking at all!
"I'll give you the person, but you have to guarantee his safety."
"This is the first time I've seen Ethan care about someone's safety. After all, to treat one brother's illness, you were willing to give away your other brother."
Ethan felt the stab right in his heart. He swung his fist at Alexander!
Before his fist could land, Catherine said coolly, "If you hit him, I won't save your brother."
Hearing Catherine defend him, Alexander's eyes crinkled with a gentle smile, soft as rippling water.
Catherine was starting to care about him now. How wonderful.
Ethan's fist stopped abruptly in mid-air, just 2 inches from Alexander's face!
He looked at Alexander and Catherine with some confusion.
"Isn't Phantom Doctor Moon with Faceless Ones? When did you team up with Shadow Syndicate's Nightfall? Since you can leave Faceless Ones, why not consider our Abyssal Blades? Whatever Shadow Syndicate is offering you, I'll double it—no, triple it!"
Ethan was convinced that Alexander and Catherine were working together because Alexander must have snatched the consultation spot that Phantom Doctor Moon posted on the dark web.
He'd checked the surroundings and found no one from Faceless Ones.
This meant Phantom Doctor Moon's consultation was a personal matter, with no connection to Faceless Ones.
"Moon, Abyssal Blades would be your best choice. If you're willing to join, I'll agree to any condition you name!"
"If Blackfire from Faceless Ones finds out his subordinate was poached by Nightfall, who knows how he'd react. But Abyssal Blades can definitely protect you!"
Alexander let out a cold laugh.
"Can't even snag a consultation spot, yet you claim to be better than Shadow Syndicate?"
Ethan got angry just thinking about that consultation spot!
He hadn't been operating in Stellara before, so he didn't know much about things here. When he tried to grab the consultation spot, his internet connection lagged!
If the network hadn't failed, he wouldn't have missed it.
"Moon, name your price—I can pay whatever you want!"
Catherine pulled out a slip of paper with a bank account number. "Three hundred million dollars. Transfer it first. Today's consultation fee."
Ethan stared at the account number, momentarily stunned.
"The consultation fee was agreed upon, but you haven't told me what's wrong with my brother yet!"
Catherine wore a mask and hat, only her cool eyes visible as she looked coldly at Ethan.
"Register first, then get treated. Don't you know that?"
The patient on the bed started coughing violently, his awful complexion turning red from the coughing. After the fit, bright red blood stained the white sheets.
He gasped for breath, looked at Ethan, and smiled weakly. "Don't save me. My life isn't worth it."
Ethan's eyes reddened. He grabbed his phone and transferred the money.
"I didn't say anything, so don't you dare die on me!"
Catherine tore up the paper with the account number, lit it, and tossed it into a nearby trash can. The specially treated paper quickly turned to ash.
"Brain cancer. Needs surgery, but requires Dream grass. You should have some, right? When you met with Eli last time, if you got nothing from it, then you're hopeless."
The news of Ethan meeting with Eli wasn't a secret on the dark web anymore.
Ethan nodded. "I have it. When can we do the surgery? What do we need to prepare?"
"I need to bring in three of my people to prepare for the surgery with me."
Ethan instinctively refused.
"No way! I've prepared doctors too. You can operate with my doctors. I don't trust your people."
Catherine looked up coolly, meeting Ethan's wary eyes. "I don't trust your people either."
Ethan gritted his teeth, sticking to his decision.
"My people won't hurt my brother. What if your people harm him during surgery?"
"Then there's no need to work together. Since you have doctors, you can find someone who can operate on him."
As Catherine spoke, she stood up and removed her disposable medical gloves, looking ready to leave.
Seeing her about to go, the muscles in Ethan's arm tensed as he reached toward Catherine.
Before he could touch her, he took a solid punch.
"Ethan, I warned you. Touch Moon, and I'll take your life!"
"You..."
Before Ethan could finish, he took another punch to the face!
Alexander rubbed his wrist, standing beside Catherine.
The man on the bed struggled to get up to help the fallen Ethan.
With this movement, several books by his side fell to the floor.
Catherine bent down to pick them up—they were comic books!
Ethan wiped the blood from his mouth. "I'm fine. Moon, please save my brother. I'll let your people into the operating room, but I need to be there watching too. Don't worry, I won't get in the way."
Catherine casually flipped through the comics and handed them back to the patient nonchalantly.
"Even if you're in there during surgery, if I wanted to harm your brother, you couldn't do anything about it."
Catherine put her hand inside her uniform, turned around, and looked at Ethan with icy detachment. "If I don't save him, he'll definitely die. Why would I harm him? Ruining my own reputation is something you Abyssal Blades people like to do. I'm above that."
On the border, missions required cooperation between organizations. Abyssal Blades had often dragged others down while pursuing their own interests.
They always caused no small amount of trouble.
Ethan's face flushed. "As long as you're willing to join Abyssal Blades, you'll be our second-in-command!"
Alexander's hand rested on Catherine's shoulder, his eyes falling on Ethan's face with cold intensity.
Poaching people right in front of him?
Ethan should consider whether he had the ability!
"I'm not interested in Abyssal Blades. Since the patient has already fasted, the surgery will be in one hour. If my people can't come in, the surgery won't start. When you let them in is up to you."
Catherine glanced coolly at Ethan. "Anyway, I'm not the one who needs saving. His condition is very bad right now. Delay a bit longer and he might die."
Ethan's face was full of conflicted emotions!
Leaving the hospital room, Catherine and Alexander walked back to the office one after the other.
Taking off her mask, Catherine let out a long breath.
"What's wrong? Is the surgery difficult?"
"I've seen more difficult surgeries. I'm just wondering why Ethan's brother is reading the same comic my grandfather reads."
That comic wasn't a popular genre, and the artist wasn't well-known either.
After returning from Bright Heal Hospital, Catherine had found and read all of that comic artist's work.
Marcus had come across that comic by chance—he saw it while visiting someone to play chess. It caught his interest right away, and finding the domestic translation too slow, he specifically learned Novia's language just to follow the ongoing story.
The old man who showed Marcus the comic had been discharged last month.
Catherine had a feeling that comic was hiding more secrets!
