Chapter 6

16th May 2006 : 8:15 am.

I sat watching her, the woman that I’d spend the rest of my life, with as she stretched as she got out of my bed. Since Will had given me no choice but to stay in a hotel, after gathering my things from our shared apartment I’d booked the hotel suite until the end of the term. Only a few more weeks and I’d be back home. Or maybe I’d just stay here a few more weeks. Who knows? If I didn’t see mother for a few more years I would still be able to sleep at night.

Being with Emma, feeling the comfort in her embrace, no longer did I feel guilty. I was with the first woman that I’d ever loved and I wouldn’t apologise for how I felt about her.

For the first time in my life, I was loving someone other than myself. I had no intention of letting her go. Not now, not ever.

“What are you thinking about?”

“How beautiful you are, Emma. Do you really have to go?”

She smiled at my confession, the feeling that I’d kept deep inside of me, and she had managed to awaken it and now it wouldn’t go away. Her blue eyes lit up as she turned to kiss me.

“Yes, not all of us have millions in a trust fund waiting for us on graduation day. Some of us have to study.”

“Or you could just stay in bed and share the millions with me?” I put my arm around her, wanting her to know how precious she was to me.

“What happens next week when you get bored of me?”

She had no idea the effect that she was having on me. She had to get that out of her head, I hadn’t told her about wanting to marry her. I thought that I’d save that for the right time which would be when I’d be on bended knees begging her to be my bride, wife for life.

“How could I get ever bored of this?” I cupped her breasts, everything about her body was perfect. From the size of her breasts, her hips to her ass, which I couldn’t help but slap every time it teased me. It was so fucking easy. She would bend and my hand would draw to it like a magnet.

“Do you think that I gave up my friendship with Will on the whim? Do you know how much he means to me?”

I sat up to make her know that this was serious. My friendship, relationship, with Will was forever broken. We would no longer call each other. See each other. Laugh. Pretend fight. Like we’d done in the past, all that had gone. I knew it from the moment he left the car, he’d told me to move out of our apartment. This wasn’t a fight, something that could be repaired. Will had as good as told me that we were strangers, just like we had been ten years ago.

She shook her head, “No.”

“I’m telling you that it wasn’t easy telling him. And I didn’t get the fucking chance, thanks to my mother. It’s even harder knowing that he wants nothing to do with me,” I sighed as the tears started to build up. Will was hurt. I kidded myself thinking that he needed his space, but he didn’t.

“So, that’s it then?”

I nodded my head, “I’ll give him time to deal with it. Once he sees that you mean so much to me then maybe he’ll come around.”

It was a fucking lie. The first one that I’d ever told her, but I had a feeling that it wouldn’t be the last. I was guilty in all of this, not her. I was the one that had betrayed my brother. Not her. I had a ten year friendship with him, she’d only knew him for a couple of years. There were things that I knew about Will that no one else knew, and he’d confided in me without hesitation because he considered that I was more than a friend.

When he hadn’t eaten for a week when he returned home for vacation, I was the one that he told he was starving, and without hesitation I’d bought him food. Twelve years old, I’d begged my dad to give him money. He laughed when I asked until I told him the reason. After that time Will never starved again. Never went without a meal, not that anyone could guess looking at him. He still could do with some fattening up, but he wasn’t the best eater, at the best of times. I knew that he’d gone through so many periods of not having food that he was accustomed to not eating much. It’d became his second nature. Something that I could never comprehend, the desire to want the basic necessities in life and never having access to them at a drop of a hat.

“What if he doesn’t?” She moved away from me and shifted her bangs to the side, an action that she did out of nervousness even if it wasn’t clouding her vision.

“He will eventually,” I said with such confidence that I nearly convinced myself that it was true.

“He’ll see that you and I were meant to be. He thinks that this is some kind of childish game. That I’m trying to win because I can…”

“Really? You think that I’m that easy?” she threw a pillow at my head with a slight smile on her face.

I jumped up and grabbed her. “Just stay in bed. Missing one class won’t really make a difference. Besides we’ve got some catching up to do. Right here and right now.”

I knew that I’d convince her to stay. My hand moved from her breast to the side of her ass. One slap. One kiss and I knew that she’d stay. She couldn’t resist as she started to groan as my hand slid in between her legs.
