Darius

I looked up at Ruddy. This was the reason for her strange behavior. Jas was a problem for her. Why didn't she tell me? And I told her… . I called her……

“ Get me her address and Ruddy find him ,find her stepfather,her mother and her stepbrother “.

“ Done sir. I'll have her address in a few minutes”.

The minute he left, I got up and ran to the small Washroom, I had in the office and began throwing up. All the names I called her ,the way I treated her, I felt disgusting. I washed my face and rinsed my mouth out. She didn't do it. Then why did she stay quiet?.

I went back to my desk and re-read the messages and one stood out to me. Where he said he was starting to enjoy her body. I hoped to fucking god ,it wasn't what I was thinking. I was wondering how to go about this When Jas walked into my office. She was also a problem then and I didn't see it. I looked at her.

“ I want the truth from you Jas. When you found out I was married,did you hate McKenzie?” , I asked looking at her.

“ What ? Oh come on Darius Why would I hate her ?”. She was brushing it off.

“ Did you do something you shouldn't have done Jasmine” ,she was shifting in the chair.

“ Darius , you know me ?” ,

“ If I find out you had anything to do with her leaving you'll regret it jasmine, that's a promise ” ,I said staring at her.

“ Darius , this is absurd,why would I do anything to her? I was aware that she didn't fully like me but that was it” ,She said matter of factly.

My phone vibrated, I checked and it was her address from Ruddy with the message’ Her address sir ‘ I got up and looked at Jas.

“ Shouldn't you have left by now?” ,I asked looking at her

“ I came to ask you if you'll be visiting Grayson?”. She said, strolling around.

“ No ,I saw him this morning, I'm meeting my grandmother at the family house “. I grabbed my coat and the papers and walked out. She followed me to the elevator. I've known Jas to be a good person ever since I knew her if it turns out she was anything other than what she portrayed there was going to be hell.

I left the building at five, I wanted to go to her but decided against it. I ended up going to the hospital. When I walked in Grayson was watching TV.

“ Finally some company ” ,

I handed the papers to him and sat down. He had that focused look on his face.

“ Fuck D , If I'm reading this right. He did something to her D and I don't think it's good “. Grayson said, looking at me.

“ The pictures and documents from the binder are all fakes, they're copies. Before you say anything Grayson, I was angry ok, I was pissed and I wasn't thinking straight. After she left I wanted to forget about it so I never checked. The day you had the accident. I kinda cornered her . She said she didn't betray me and accused me of betraying her so I sent Ruddy to find out . She received pictures that night of me and Jasmine together and she was angry. She showed the old lady and she came to me. Ruddy also did some digging and found the pictures too.I fucked up“.

“ I told you she wouldn't do something like that. Yes You fucked up and fucked up big time, You believed what you saw and for the last five years you shut everyone out. McKenzie doesn't like Jasmine neither does she trust Jasmine so fix this. Do you still want McKenzie in your life D?”.

I was about to answer when she walked in. She didn't acknowledge me.she was my McKenzie. Not once in the past five years did I forget her , I never stopped thinking about her not even once.

“ Yes ” ,I said looking at Grayson.

“ Then figure out what you're going to do about , Jas ?” He said, looking over my head.

“ I'm here you have company . Oh Hi McKenzie?” I heard that tone.

McKenzie was busy with Grayson's results.

“ McKenzie I didn't know you were back in Ardwell. I saw you the day in the elevator but I wasn't sure. You're a doctor?.Darius I was in your office,I asked you if you were visiting Grayson we could have come together.”. Jas said.the way she just said we were together implied something else. I found Grayson looking at me.

“ Mr Paul, your results are good. There isn't bleeding or swelling in the brain. The incision site has healed well. So you can go , You'll be discharged tomorrow morning”. She said looking at Grayson.

“ Aww come on just a few more days, I've had two weeks off of work and it was amazing”, Grayson said looking at her. She knew she could talk to him.

“ Grayson you're fine . My job is already stressful as it is. If you're in this hospital then others will be too. So I don't want you here. I don't need complications in my already stressful life. Nurse Lanie will discharge you in the morning ” ,

Darius

Her beeper started going off. She looked at it. “ Shit”. She grabbed her phone.

“ Zara. Can you or Bryan please get me something to eat? I'm heading over to Ardwell General. Yea surgery, it's probably an all nighter. Okay bye”. She ended the call and looked at Grayson.

“ See. I rarely have time to eat or sleep. I'm between Four hospitals. You're fine, You can leave, please I just ....” ,she

stopped .

Grayson looked at me, I nodded slightly. She didn't want to see me. Who was I to blame her?.I'm the one that wronged her.

“ Okay I'll go, but if I don't feel good I'm coming back straight to this bed ”

“ Okay. I'll see you around,Bye Grayson ”. She walked out not looking at me or the woman standing in the room.

“ Okay, what's going on. Why aren't you angry at her Darius?. Grayson, how can you speak to her so casually after what she did to Darius ?”.

I was about to say something but Grayson beat me to it.

“ Jasmine, you're my friend, our friend. McKenzie was married to Darius , not me ,not you. She has a goddamn job to do so I suggest you leave her the fuck alone. If she wasn't here I would be dead, do you understand?If D’s pissed at me for talking to her then that's between the two of us. Stay in your Lane,Our personal lives don't concern you. We've been friends for a long time. Don't make that change. . Did you just imply that you were with Darius? If you're doing something you shouldn't you better stop ”, He said looking at her.

“ Seriously Grayson? Why are you bashing me like that,all because I asked something? Why are you being mean to me?”. She said before storming out of the room.

I looked at Grayson with raised eyebrows.

“ She wants me out of here because she doesn't want to see you or Jasmine. Jas still makes her uncomfortable. You said you still want her so make the choice D. You want to be with the woman that you've been pining for ,for the past five years or do you want your friendship with Jas. Cause McKenzie will never be comfortable around her and you're going to suffer, you gotta give one of them up” ,He said looking at me.

“ I know, I don't think she's going to give me a second chance Grayson” I said . I wanted her back ,I needed her .

“ She will, I'll help you ” ,He said smiling. I didn't like the look of that smile. After a short conversation,where he told me what I needed to do , I went home. I called Zach and put him on her.
