Chapter 110: Chapter 110 Micah Experience

Micah’s POV

I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw David Cooper enter the courtroom. His footsteps as he walked down the aisle were full of tension.

Everyone was shocked. Who wouldn’t know David Cooper? The best lawyer in the whole country?

My heart raced as he continued to approach. And when he approached the bench, said his name to the judge, it was as if my heart dropped into the deepest pit.

My hands trembled as if I was infected by a shaking disease. I was sweaty all over. Before I met Rebecca, I had watched cases David Cooper argued on TV.

He was a popular attorney that they used his life-courting arguing cases to teach young and upcoming attorneys how to do it right. And as such, his cases were always shown on TV for free.

The cases he argued were brutal. The defendant, if he were prosecuting, always landed in a life sentence or was sentenced to be killed by fire.

I opened my eyes widely as I remembered the final judgment a court pronounced on a case.

Would I be judged to be killed as well?

My heart pounded.

“You may begin your arguments,” Judge Hilar said clearly and suddenly. And my heart pounded once more.

At this moment, I saw how Attorney Deborah fidgeted. She stammered, but she later gained her confidence. She spoke a lot about what had happened, termed it an honest mistake.

She blamed whatever I had done on my sexuality. “As you may know, when people are diagnosed with something, it is not their fault to exhibit it. It becomes a part of them.”

“Your Honor, would you say a madman, who, of course, smacked a plant on a woman on the roadside and to which the woman falls down and dies immediately, was guilty of the crime—murder? Wouldn’t we say it was the dead woman’s fault?

The question would be: why would you see a madman on the street, heading toward you, and wait until he smacked a heavy plant on your head?”

“Your Honor, the same is for my client. He was diagnosed with sadomasochism. And we all know what this was all about. A person with this disorder was usually portrayed to behave wildly and go as far as rping a lady in his girlfriend’s house.”

“As a result of this, I beg the court to please let’s send Mr. Micah to therapy. That is the only place we could correct his disorder and help him become a better man. After all, he did not rpe the victim. He was caught before he had the chance to.” Attorney Deborah bowed before the court and headed to her seat.

Immediately as she sat, Attorney David rose to his feet. He approached the bench, adjusted his suit, then smirked at the court, turned to look at me, then smirked too.

Seeing the smirk on his face, my heart raced immediately like it was being pursued. I knew the impact of his smirk. I knew he was ready for me and was going to teach me a lesson no matter what!

He bowed to the court, and then said, “Firstly, I laughed at the takes of Attorney Deborah. She spoke with such sight blindness and fallacy to which she ignored or purposely pushed away facts just so she could bring her client into a good light. But I beg to differ. For there is nothing like sadomasochism.”

A loud murmur erupted in the court. Everyone gazed at each other.

“There is nothing like sadomasochism?” they asked each other.

“But…” their confusion was boldly written on their faces. But not Rebecca.

She crossed her leg over the other, folded her hands gently on her crossed leg, and looked at Attorney David with a smiling expression.

He was doing a good job she had hired him for. But for me, he was really wanting to make sure I paid for my crime.

“Your Honor, sadomasochism is a well-documented psychological and sexual preference that some people engage in consensually. Many people explore it as part of BDSM, which means Bondage, Discipline, Dominance, Submission, Sadism, and Masochism, which has structured communities and guidelines to ensure safety and consent.”

“But to see a person rpe someone and then blame it on his sexuality is a silly take. Sadomasochism is just a preference. Just like if we wanted to eat our food, we might prefer to eat and down a glass of juice or wine. PREFERENCE!”

“Your Honor, a person who practices sadomasochism cannot legally or ethically rpe someone! When such happens, that person is just simply a rpist and nothing more.”

“To further my take, Your Honor, if you may, I would love to invite Dr. Michel, a popular sexologist, to the stand and let her explain to us what this sadomasochism really means.”

“Objection, Your Honor!” Attorney Deborah interrupted immediately.

“Overruled!” Judge Hilar said, and thus, I watched as Attorney Deborah fell back into her seat. She then turned to look at me. She shook her head and looked sad.

My heart skipped seeing the expression on her face. Did she mean she was admitting defeat already?

My heart was pounding. We hadn’t prepared up to half of how Attorney David had prepared.

It was so evident he was so ready to put my ass in jail, and I just wished I could fall on my feet right now and beg.

“Dr. Michel,” Attorney David voiced suddenly after a woman in her white lab coat and a pair of glasses perched on her nose stood at the stand.

“Do you swear to say the truth and nothing but the truth?” Attorney David asked.

“I swear!” she answered.

Then Attorney David walked closer to the bench as he began.

“There is a hypothesis that sadomasochism is not responsible for rape. How true is this, Dr. Michel?” Attorney David asked.

“It is not a hypothesis. It is, in fact, true. Sadomasochism or BDSM is a consensual practice where both parties agree to certain activities, including dominance and submission. It is built on trust, communication, and mutual respect.

However, rpe is an act of violence and non-consent. A person who engages in sadomasochism does not inherently have a tendency to commit rpe. In fact, studies suggest that individuals involved in consensual BDSM often have a strong understanding of boundaries and consent.

Of course, like in any group, there can be individuals who commit crimes, but sadomasochism itself is not responsible for rape. The key factor in rape is lack of consent, not a person’s sexual preferences.”

“Thank you, Dr. Michel. Please step down from the stand,” Attorney David gestured.

And then smirked again.

“Your Honor, if you may, please allow me to call the defendant himself to the stand,” Attorney David said, then turned to me.

“Objection, My Lord!” Attorney Deborah shouted immediately.

My heart pounded like a terrified rabbit in a dangerous hole.

How did I get myself into this spot?
