Chapter 8: Meeting My Sister

POV Isabella

When Sophia told me she was adopted. I became interested as a thought flipped through my head, and I asked myself, what if she is my sister? I shook my head negatively and said, "It is not possible. She was born in France, and I was born in the USA. That was the location of birth on our birth certificate." Sophia and I quickly became very close friends because we shared common interests. We had similar tastes for food and music, etc. Sophia informed me when an event was happening. Sometimes, we double-dated and loved to mess with the guys who could not tell us apart. One day, Sophia asked me to teach her American English. She knew English but with a British accent. We spent hours in conversation so she could practise her American Accent.

There was a student fair in the auditorium for first-year students. I collected as many brochures and took them back to the dormitory. Unfortunately, Sophia went an hour later and was told that she visited the stalls before, and they were not giving her any more freebies. She explained that she was in class, but that did not matter, as we were already mistaken for each other.

Then came the all-freshman competition. My mind was already in a place for winning. I was a good athlete, and I played soccer at school. I was in flag football and played in basketball competitions. I was one of our pack's lead female warriors in the werewolf world. Being around many young men full of testosterone helped because they were competitive from the get-go. I loved dancing, acting and singing. I played the piano but not exceptionally well. My grades were excellent, and I was on the high school debate team. I was confident I would win this competition until I had to compete with Sophia, who proved to be just as good as I was. This competition was a dance-off with a partner.

I called my parents and told them I was participating in a competition and needed money for a dance costume. Mom got excited and asked if I wanted Ashton to come and bring me some items. She said Nathan and Aston would visit Paris on Nathan’s family jet. I told her no and that I was okay. I regretted it later because my brother was our dance champion, and we would have made an excellent team. Sophia had her plus-one in every competition. Douglas went everywhere with her; although he had completed his bachelor’s, he was still at university. They were like two peas in a pod. There was not one without the other. He did night classes for his MA degree online but still had access to campus. Words went around campus that they were a couple, but Sophia denied it. She said they had been best friends since infancy.

The night of the competition arrived. Sophia and I practised for many hours in our dormitory and the dance studio on campus. Our schedules never crossed each other's time. Patrick was an excellent dancer, and he wanted to be my partner. He was fun to hang out with, and we made a great pair. We first watched each other dance our separate parts. Then, we constructively criticise each other's performance and decide to improve our moves, and then we sync our moves. Patrick was popular. Everyone knew him on campus. He was one year ahead of me and a Trust-Fund kid with lots of wealth and nothing to worry about. He had one of the best apartments around campus, and all the cool people hung out at his place beside the bar his family-owned. We never got free drinks, but Patrick made cool things happen when he was around. He had some showgirls from the Dream Team perform at the bar one night. When he was there, everyone had fun because he always had something funny to tell us, such as the hilarious shouting and screaming of jokes. As we got on the dance floor, even though I did not call attention to myself, he noticed me dancing with my friends and came over to introduce himself. He was also a friend of Douglas and Sophia, even though they all had a competitive spirit. When he heard that Sophia and Douglas were competing, he found me in my next class and left a note inviting me to be his excellent partner in the competition.

That night of the competition, after Sophia and Douglas danced. I was in the dressing room and could hear the boom of the applause. It seemed as if they performed well. Now, Patrick and I had to attain that. It wasn't challenging, but it sent chills up my spine just thinking how on earth we are supposed to beat that kind of applause.

Patrick came and held my hand. He realised I was nervous and said, "Never take your eyes off your partner." We walked to the centre of that dance hall. Bowed, and the music started. I followed Patrick's every move. We were well synchronised, and we danced in unison. When the item was finished, we thought our performance was poor. When everyone stood up, their applause was like a crescendo. The judges declared that it was a tie. Although we were both first, my competitive spirit thought if it were Ashton, we would have won. We all moved to the hall's centre as they announced the winners. Patrick and I walked over to Sophia and Douglas to congratulate them. When I saw the look Sophia gave me, my words were stuck in my throat. I shook their hands and, without a word, exited with my partner.

We celebrated later at the bar, and Patrick asked me to be his girlfriend. Little did I know this was a wrong choice. That night, as I was going back to the dormitory. A group of men surrounded me. As they approached me, one of them choked me and slashed my arm. I felt faint and lost consciousness. I felt myself being lifted out of my body and stood before a beautiful woman who could not be anyone other than the goddess Celine. She took me for a walk in a magnificent garden with various flowers. She asked me to choose one as I smelt it; a sense of knowing this scent came to me. It is familiar yet mysterious. This scent of rosemary and ginger would not leave my nostrils. She said that this scent was significant to me. Then I heard her speaking to someone she called Millicent, who agreed with Celine.

In this garden, there was every kind of fruit. She said I could only eat from the trees around me and should not venture far. I could see all sorts of creatures, from unicorns to fairies. They all lived in harmony, and I could hear joyous laughter, but no one approached me. Glistening brooks and streams filled rivers and lakes. There was peace in this atmosphere, and I could not leave. I felt as if I was trapped in time and I had been here for months. When I heard a familiar voice saying, "Come back to us, princess." from a distance, Milicent told me it was time to return. I disagreed and said to her that I wanted to stay. She told me that it was not time yet. I could feel her warmth as she encouraged me to be brave and return to our parents. They were waiting for us for a long time. Before I knew it, My eyes flashed open, and I could see Mom and Dad sitting by my bedside, crying as they rubbed my hands, telling me how much they loved me. Alpha Jacob and Luna Roseann stood afar off, and I could feel Alpha's anger rolling off him. When they realised I was awake, They rushed over. They all began to ask questions at the same time.

I gave them an account of what happened, and they told me they had gotten help from the werewolves that lived in Paris and would investigate this incident until they found the culprit who dared to touch me. Then Sophia came in, and her eyes were bloodshot as if she was crying. I looked at her and heard her wolf say to mine, "Welcome back, sister." She walked over to me and said. "Hi, Milli and my wolf replied, "Good to see you, Merri." In my mind, I was thinking. What in the world is that? Sophia and my parents chatted for a while, and she told them that she was in shock when she found out that our blood type was a perfect match.

When Douglas found me, I was almost dead. They called an ambulance and rushed me to their Pack hospital, and I needed blood. Both she and Douglas volunteered, but her blood and mine were identical. The hospital ran a random test and found out our DNA matched perfectly, making us identical twins. There was much that I did not know about myself, but with Sophia's help, we could figure out why one of us was left in Paris and the other in New York. There had to be some unseen reason or explanation for why this happened. My dad said it could be baby trafficking and that we were probably stolen from our parents. My mom said, or it could be a teenage mother who could not afford to keep us.
