Chapter 57 Hard work
With both parties acquainted and SAC already leaning towards Lydia’s studio, the meeting proceeded smoothly, facilitated by Andrew’s presence.
After the meeting, Andrew stayed behind to speak with Lydia alone.
“I didn’t expect this!”
Seeing the smile in Lydia’s eyes, Andrew’s gaze softened even more. “Yeah, if I hadn’t come over, I wouldn’t have known that the studio our company is collaborating with this time is yours, Lydia.”
Lydia smiled. “I have to thank you for your generosity earlier, making our first business deal go so smoothly.”
“If you want to thank me, how about having coffee together?”
Lydia’s eyes sparkled. “Sure!”
Andrew was pleasantly surprised. He thought she might refuse, but to have the opportunity to have coffee with the girl he had secretly admired for years excited him beyond measure.
Andrew tried to contain his excitement, reminding himself not to be rude. So, they left the meeting room one after the other, heading to the café downstairs.
It was still working hours, so the café wasn’t crowded. Elegant piano music filled the air, creating a pleasant atmosphere.
Once seated, the waiter handed them menus. Before Lydia could speak, Andrew asked, “I remember you used to love lemon–flavored desserts. Have your tastes changed over the years?”
Lydia was surprised. “How did you know?”
Andrew smiled but didn’t answer. How could he tell her that he used to secretly follow her to dessert shops, ordering everything she ordered just to taste what she liked?
Just like his feelings for her, seemingly growing stronger with time, yet he carefully concealed them, fearing to lose even the friendship in the end!
Lydia sighed inwardly, remembering how Ron, with whom she had lived for over a year, didn’t even know her hobbies. People were indeed incomparable!
As the dessert arrived, Lydia took a bite, her eyes narrowing in satisfaction, resembling an adorable cat, which tickled Andrew’s heart.
He coughed softly, trying to hide his embarrassment but only drew concerned looks from Lydia. “Are you feeling unwell? Speaking of which, last time I was supposed to treat you to dinner, but then… it turned into quite a spectacle!”

Andrew’s heart skipped a beat, suddenly reminded of the imposing man who made him feel so threatened. After hesitating for a moment, he continued, “That man that day, he’s Wythe’s father, right? How did you two…?”
Hearing Andrew mention Lambert, Lydia’s ears flushed, unexpectedly feeling embarrassed, like when a
high school secret crush was exposed to a close friend.
“That was just a coincidence!”
Seeing Lydia’s reluctance to talk further, Andrew relaxed, thinking he still had a chance!
“By the way, Lydia, after seeing your designs today, I think they’re excellent. I’ve decided to entrust our
company’s next quarter’s projects to your studio! Perhaps we’ll be seeing each other more often in the
future.”
Lydia’s eyes widened in surprise. “Really? Thank you so much. Today, I’ll treat you to the dinner I owed you before! I know a nice restaurant you’ll love!”
“Yeah! I’ll definitely love it!”
As long as I’m with you, I’ll love anything we do together! Andrew silently added in his heart.
As the Director of the Design Department at the company, Lydia’s job was indeed very demanding.
So, after a cup of coffee, Lydia returned to the studio.
As for Andrew, originally, someone else was supposed to follow up on this project.
However, upon discovering that the collaboration partner was Lydia, he promptly swapped schedules
with the other person.
This meant that in the days to come, he would have plenty of time to spend with Lydia, albeit discussing
work matters only.
Lydia welcomed this wholeheartedly.
Back in school, Andrew was renowned for his exceptional talent. He himself was an outstanding fashion designer, often providing valuable and useful insights into Lydia’s designs, greatly benefiting her.
So, upon hearing that Andrew would be staying to oversee the progress of their work, Lydia was overjoyed. In her excitement, she momentarily forgot about Lambert. 1
For the next two or three days, Lydia worked tirelessly, often coming home late and immediately retreating to her room due to the intense workload, barely having the energy to talk.
On this particular day, after returning home, Lydia greeted Lambert and their son before heading straight
to her room.

At that moment, father and son were having dinner in the living room.
Of course, Lambert had arranged for dinner to be delivered from “Eleganza“.
Seeing Lydia in such a tired state, they exchanged worried glances.
“Dad, Mom hasn’t spoken to us in three days.”
Lambert put down his chopsticks. “Sweetheart, you eat first. I’ll go check on her.”
Wythe nodded obediently, and Lambert pushed open Lydia’s bedroom door. Upon entering, he found her
sprawled on the bed, motionless, fully clothed.
Approaching softly, Lambert called out, “Lydia! Lydia!”
Lydia groggily opened her eyes, saw Lambert, then closed them again. “You guys go ahead and eat. I had
dinner at the office.”
With that, she fell asleep again.
Lambert felt a twinge of helplessness and tenderness. He decided to undress her and even went to the
bathroom to get a towel to wipe her hands and face before quietly leaving the room.
Wythe, being considerate, had already cleared his own dinner plate. Seeing Lambert come out, he asked with concern, “What’s wrong with Mom? Is her work not going well?”
“She’s already asleep. Must be tired. Don’t worry, sweetheart. I’ll check on her tomorrow!”
Wythe felt a little reassured, and Lambert made a decision in his heart – he would definitely visit Lydia’s
office tomorrow to see what was going on!
