Chapter 108
Today was the full moon day, it was also my off day fortunately. It would have sucked to get up early today and work around when I needed all the energy I could master.
Of course my pups were naturally early birds, when I saw them all seated in the crib. I push myself off the bed and quickly retrieve them back to my bed. Its been long since I had the time to just lay down and not to have worry about job security and pregnancies.
Today I was going to rest all I could, the week ahead wasn't going to happen by itself so I needed the rest.
After a little playing around, me and the pups fall asleep again. With both of them under each arm has their heads lay on my chest. They looked like little angels when they were this peaceful.
As the hours pass by, I make a hobby of cleaning the place spotless. I decided to make us food and since they like the sweet goodies, I make effort to bake them something in the oven in Dolly's kitchen. It was an old one but it still worked.
If I was going to get myself an oven, that was going to be in a long time coming after working myself thin.
After backing then little cupcakes with no cream, I share some to Dolly hoping she will love them with her tea. I did make tea for myself sometime later as we waited for the sun to go down and the moon to come up.
Today they were extraordinarily active. Must be the influence of the moon. I wasn't sure if I was going to be able to handle them if there transformation was going to be a violent one.
When the time came, it was only clear that these pups were going to suffer. They never cry unnecessarily but today they were wailing. They refused to eat and their diapers were okay. It had taken me a minute to discover that the transformation was hard on them.
It hurt to see them in pain when I could not do anything about it. They had to get through this so that it was over with. I myself transformed gracefully in the hopes that they will imitate me. I guess some things are hard to teach.
When they finally do, it is a happy moment for me, a proud mother. We had nowhere to be so it was just going to be me and them inside like this.
The next thing I realize is waking up I the morning, we must have fallen asleep last night. I was just glad that I was done with yesterday. And soon I had to get ready for work. On a Sunday.
This was heavy, but if I wanted anything good then I had to endure heavy right? Wasn't that what every motivational speaker was trying to say.
With heavy limbs I drag myself around the house to get things done before leaving for Eddy's. I had to make sure that I caught the train if I wanted to get there in time.
Speeding up myself as I got the pups ready for Dolly, I drop them off just before I go to step outside and officially start my day. Today Moira didn't come because it was her day off, instead I shared this shift with one of the college students that took up part time jobs like this one.
Her name was Geneviève with the ‘apostrophe' she said. Honestly I didn't care if her name was French or not, I was just trying to be nice and make conversation since her and I have never met.
I didn't like her at all. Not after she tried to flirt with all the male patrons in the dinner. Couldn't she be a little more subtle? This was a professional setting after all. Well for me and her, we had to treat it with profession.
But that wasn't my place to tell her what to do and what not to do. She was a responsible adult that knew how to handle her things, apparently she chose to handle them like that.
Sunday was one of the least busiest day of the week. Today as Sunday most people didn't go out to their jobs. Besides, people met family today for lunch or something. As far as I found out.
I thought it was sweet that people remember to visit family every week. Only if I had an extended family that way I wouldn't have had to come all the way here hiding. I would have just stuck out at the relatives place until I knew it was safe to come out again.
But no, life worked different and things had to be conducted different too.
it was getting close to knock off time when a customer walks in. Subconsciously I reach for my pen and note book to take an order from the patron. I walk towards his direction without checking till I get to the table and notice who it was.
It was Jeremiah. He was in a suit. If I had doubts that this man was attractive then they were all ruled out. No man was supposed to be this attractive near newly divorced wives.
I smile at him and ask for his order. He smiles in return and replies, "You didn't come to the clinic yesterday" he is looking to gaud my reaction to his accusation.
I drop the note book from my face and mock smile at him "I wasn't feeling well" I say to him. "May I take your order?" I press again.
He looks at me for some time before, "Uh yeah, I would like a coffee please. Black."
In a hurry, I move from his side to get the order for him. Soon I was coming out of the kitchen with a tray in hand and a steaming cup of black coffee sitting on the tray.
When I place the cup on the booth table, he stops me "Was it the moon?"
