Chapter 81 There's been no one before and no one after her. It's just her
81\. There's been no one before and no one after her. It's just her

Alpha Damien's POV

"What do you mean?"

I stared at her face in disbelief. There's been no one before and there'll be no one after her. She is my constant and she knows that. Even then when she said that, I felt my entire being burning in despair and annoyance.

"A new love interest?"

"What are you talking about, Aurora?" I controlled my own disappointment as I stared at her unbelievably.

Why would I have another love interest when I have her?

"You know what I am talking about, Damien Hunter."

She was pissed. Her face was red and her combined emotions I smelled in the air spoke of her mood swings.

"Aura, come here," I tried to take her by the waist but she showed me a palm.

"Why do you even call me Aura? Why not Aurora? That's what you call me when you want to be professional, don't you?"

"Oh my god, Aura," I resisted my laughs as I didn't want to frustrate her. But her frustration was cute.

At the same time I was concerned for her face was totally crimson. She was also shivering. Her knuckles were colourless too.

"Are you okay? Should I call a doctor for you?" I was genuinely concerned, yet the look she gave me was incomprehensible.

She scrunched her forehead and laughed. She ran her hands through her hair and then burst into tears.

"Huh, great! Now I look like a maniac."

"Aura, baby," I tried again but usually she jerked my hand away, depriving me of the touch of her skin.

"Why are you behaving so ill with me? What have I done to get this?" She suppressed her cries. "I was blamed. I was thrown out of the house. Kidnapped and forced. It's me who survived two months in someone else's house with a baby with killing trauma yet I happen to be the one getting punished."

"No one is punishing you, Love. Come here," I said with an assuring smile.

She didn't buy it though. I saw her face shaking from left to right with an innocent pout.

"No, don't you dare call me that. And don't think about touching me." She flinched away.

I can see her mood swings were overtaking her emotions. However, it is because of me why she is in tears and shivering so much.

Hunter growled. He was suddenly awake, 'Don't make her cry, Damien. I don't like it.'

"You don't love me any more. I am here only because I am carrying your baby. Your heir." With that she hurled out of my room, snapping me out of my trance.

"Aura, listen to me." I followed her.

I caught her elbow and pulled her to my chest. She was pinned to the wall as I joined our foreheads to resist her. She growled and put on a fight, "I am not letting you go." I howled.

A dry unbelievable look crossed her face and with a hiss she chided, "I am not going anywhere. I have an appointment with the doctor… For that you have to let me go."

Relieved, I hesitantly moved aside. She moved her face towards the wall in order to wipe her tears. I urged to do it for her but looking at her broken self, I was reminded of my inabilities. My head instantly lowered as I bit my bottom lip in defeat.

"Where else would I go?" She huffed. "I am bloody pregnant and I want to be with the father of my baby. But it's okay if he doesn't want to be with me. With us. I am capable of taking care of the three of us without his help. Bye."

I loved how she referred to me too. But hated how she sobbed and left. I wanted to say I would love to accompany you. Unfortunately, I couldn't. I don't know but there's something holding me back from moving on. I wonder if it will ever subside.

"I am sorry, Aura," Her photo frame I had installed in my study room caught my gaze.

I picked it up and kissed it. She was wearing a dress with the same colour as she was dressed in today. A summer blue dress. There was happiness glowing on her face regardless. Unlike today, all withered and despaired.

'I can't see her sad anymore, Damien. Do something. You have seen worse days and you never let them affect you so much. Keep your guilt aside and pull her into your arms please. I am telling you— Go, follow her to the hospital. It is her first appointment after shifting back to the mansion. Don't let her go alone now when you can be with her. In fact, you decided to work from home because of her appointment as you desired to go with her, didn't you? Now don't betray yourself and get going.' Hunter rumbled in my chest.

Honestly it is too much now. I don't like being so distant, like a guilty person, forever.

'Exactly! Now get your ass moving and follow Aura. She misses you so much, Damien.' Hunter said. 'This much repentance is enough. You must forget the past and take a step towards your future or else none of you will be happy. Not even your baby.'

Hunter is right. I am only hurting both of us by being so strange. And if I continue with it, it'll lead us to nowhere. I also want to relish her days of pregnancy and make her feel special. She's freaking carrying a life inside her. I've been stupid all this while as I kept myself away from her. So bloody stupid.

"I will go to her and kiss away all her frustration. That's the right thing to do." With that I rose while dialling my driver to prepare the car.

Hurriedly I collected my phone and closed my laptop, and exited my study.

'She will be angry but eventually accept my apology and pull me into her arms— my forever place.' I ran a hand through my hair while settling inside the car.

As the car set in motion, I wondered about everything I would do and tell her as I stared out of the window— unknown to the wave of trepidation I was to encounter on the way.

Tbc…
