Chapter 74 In his arms.

Chapter 74 In his arms.
74\. In his arms.

Aurora watched him jump on his feet and approach her with a small smile of gratification. Without any hesitation he circled his arm around her waist and leaned ahead to join their foreheads.

“I knew that you would come for me for you still love me.” He possessively pulled her to his chest and inhaled her scent.

Aurora was in a state of shock. With eyes filling with tears, she gulped a breath as she grazed his face with her panic stricken face. How could she not come? She was scared to death and somewhere blamed herself for the accident. For the accident which never took place.

She was so frightened that she felt her head spinning when the car halted before the hospital. The news could have impacted her body and put the life of her baby at risk.

There is a reason why doctors ask families to keep depressive news hidden from pregnant women. But no, Alpha Damien did what seemed right to him and forced her to come here using an excuse that should not have been used as a trick in the first place.

“You're absolutely fine! Nothing has happened to you.” She whispered, casting a downward glance to check him out.

She took a close look of his tall figure from head to toe before stopping her eyes on his face, “You did not meet with an accident?”

“No, Aura. I am fine. I am sorry if I scared you but I had no other way to call you over to meet me. You refuse to take my calls, avoid seeing me when I come to Rosario's house. You don't even see my messages. I had no other choice left to gather you here. I want to take you back home, Aura.” he said apologetically.

However, Aurora can barely sense guilt in his voice. Just like how he cannot see the dread of the fake news on her face.

“I am sorry Aura but,” Alpha Damien could not finish off his sentence as his cheek welcomed a hard slap.

Surprised, he stared at her only to find her furious teary eyes glaring at him accusingly. There were emotions he could not see earlier due to his excitement. But now when his mind cleared off— Damien saw pain, accusation, anger and relief of having him unharmed.

“What do you take me for, Alpha Damien?” she said alongside a heavy breath. “What am I to you, a game? or a toy you can't let go? or do I look like a pet you have started growing fond of and want to own? Yes, alpha damien, what am I to you?”

He was indisposed to talk. Her slap was so hard that it affected his vocal chords, inhibiting him to speak. He had no clue that the excuse he was using as a trick to summon her here would dazzle her like that.

“Do you even know how disgusting that was? My heart almost stopped beating. I felt myself dying instantly as I heard Rosario talk about you being in an operation theater taking your last breaths. I thought my baby would lose his father before its even born. I thought my temporary wish of not wanting to see you would turn into a terminal one. You don't think about anyone besides yourself, Damien Hunter. Not even about the baby that's yet to be born."She pushed him aggressively.

Aurora blinked her tears. She still could not believe it was just a mere trick. Her palms didn't stop sweating. The pulsation of her heart never lowered down. She was pissed to such an extent that she cannot hold back her urge of slapping him again.

Her palm struck harder this time. The corner of Damien's mouth chipped, spurting with blood. Aura regretted it this time as she noticed a thick trail of his blood sliding down his jaw under his neck. His face turned pale but he didn't move. He stood there as her criminal and let her seek pleasure if that's what she derived by striking him in the face.

He didn't dare wipe that trail of crimson liquid or look at her. His eyes remained affixed on the floor between them, his shoulders slumped defeatedly. This didn't suit him. He was a person emanating supremacy and domination. She couldn't look at him like this.

She swung about the room and did a runner. Aura bumped into Rosario. He passed her a sorry look, showing he was accepting his mistake as he was a part of the trick. She walked past him and rushed inside the elevator that was about to close shut. She was happily alone.

Aura clutched her mouth and cried. She sniffed observing that big diamond on her finger. The proposal ring he gave her that night. Although she's taken nothing from him, she can't divide this possession apart from her. It was precious. It belonged to her even if she was not with Damien currently.

However, that was the reason why Aurora wept as she grazed it with painful stares. It's because it was the ring that slammed his mouth, slashing his lip to bleeding.

She ran outside the hospital as soon as she saw the exit after stepping out of the elevator.

"Aurora, Aurora," Rosario called her but she didn't stop.

She wanted to get far away. She wanted to forget this night like that one. Aurora was not so heartless. Seeing him in pain and blood was not her intention. Never.

"Aurora, please listen to me." Unwillingly she ceased to function and let Rosario take a hold of her arm. "I am sorry, Aurora. It was my plan."

Her eyes shot up. She stared at him in disbelief. This was not Damien's idea? Fuck.

"He warned me but I thought it'll work since you miss him too much. He told me it may hurt the baby, I was just too stubborn to let him turn my plan down. I made him work with me and soon after he was off work, we got him into the OT and I visited you. Please don't be mad at him. I want to see you happy, Aurora. I am sorry. It was my stupid idea." Aurora broke down crying.

She cursed herself for misjudging him. This is how misunderstandings work. They turn one emotion into another and make you so crazy that you believe what is not true to be the ultimate true. Damien would have felt the same thing that night when she saw those pictures. Rest what he did was done out of fury. He let his emotions take control of him which divided them.

"Just take me home," She said.

Rosario quickly helped her get inside the car and drove her home. Aurora cried hysterically in her bed thereafter. Her mind wandered to his bleeding mouth. She should have kissed it, not hurt it. But she was angry. She was so angry that she surmised Damien was the one who plotted that stupid idea. Her fingers ached from tight clenching.

The finger she had the ring put on hurt badly as Aurora pressed her chin over it. It was red around the metal. She was disturbed. Her heart was not at peace. And the fact that he might be feeling the same made her vulnerable.

Aurora was grieving over the event so much that she didn't notice Rosario waking inside her room.

"I told you I am not hungry. Leave me alone." She cried.

She watched Rosario bend before her and take her hands. His expressions were the same as she'd seen earlier when he brought that fake news.

However, not just his expressions but also what he was going to say was hundred percent genuine this time.

"Come with me," Despite her refusals, Rosario dragged her out of her room to the vast living room.

The television was on and a random news channel was on view.

She was going to ask why he brought her out here but she noticed the headline…

'Alpha Damien met with an accident on his way home.'

"Wh-what?" It said that a truck ran into his car.

The footage of his ruined vehicle was being shown on the television beside a photograph of him.

She stared at the screen wide-eyed. Aurora forgot how to breathe as she peered at the three sixty degree coverage of his ruined car. It was badly broken. The hood before the driver's seat was completely bent and coming out of the body. The windshield was into shreds and the steering wheel vigorously bent into half.

"Aurora, hold yourself." Over her loud cry, Rosario drew her in his arms.

She wept with every cell in her body. Her hands gripped his shirt and she screamed. His guilty face flashed across her eyes. The way he's fallen silent after her blow. Aurora regretted leaving him there.

"Control yourself, Aurora. Think about the baby." Rosario breathed.

Not before… Now he was worried for she had totally lost her composure. Her body was left left and eyes watering so vigorously that Rosario feared she may fall sick afterwards.

He tried to calm her but he failed. Hence, he picked her in his arms and into the car. Rosario didn't know what he was doing but taking her to Damien seemed the best option. She may break down even worse seeing him injured but that would not be as bad as breaking down in panic at the thought of his accident.

He drove faster as he dialed Brian, Damien's beta. His phone was unreachable so he turned his vehicle into the direction of the road where the accident happened. He wasn't sure what he was doing, Rosario only wanted to stop her from crying.

"We are here… we are here." He anxiously said while jumping out of the car to help Aurora.

She helped herself and once on her feet, she ran ahead crazily towards the cars of cops and an ambulance that was standing behind the boundary of 'do not cross' ribbons.

The cops refused her entry. They won't let anyone go beyond the boundary.

"Please let me see Damien. I… I am his girlfriend." Among the flashing of cameras and noisy reporters her plea was ignored.

The cops were busy handling the reporters and cameramen who were trying to sneak inside. She was standing among them thus considered one of them. Aurora tried again but the cops were so tough that they didn't listen to her or anyone.

She suddenly stopped her attempts and stared at the ambulance. When no one was paying attention to her, she snuck inside from under the 'do not cross' ribbon, rushing towards the ambulance to see if Damien was there.

"Hey, wait!" A cop noticed her.

She ran quicker as she heard the cop commanding his team to knock her down. Scared, she ran faster. Aura was several steps away from the ambulance when unfortunately someone caught her arm and pulled her backwards.

"I want to see Damien," She spoke desperately.

"You can't, ma'am. No news reporter is allowed near the Alpha. Please go outside the boundary." The cop said as he dragged her away from the ambulance.

A heavy sob tore through her chest. Damien was here.

Taking a glance at the vehicle, she cried louder, "But I am not a reporter I am—"

"Aura," A voice bellowed on her back.

Aurora whirled around only to see Alpha Damien himself standing there.

"Let go of her." a flicker of apprehension swept through her as she laid her eyes on him.

There was a bandage around his forehead and around his right forearm whose sleeve was rolled up. Other than that, he was completely fine with no trace of severe injuries.

"Aura, what are you doing here? You should not have come."

"Damien," Aurora freed herself and sprinted towards him and into the protection of his arms. "I am so glad to see you unharmed." She said before passing out in his embrace.
