Chapter 63 Truth of her pregnancy revealed

Chapter 63 Truth of her pregnancy revealed
63\. Truth of her pregnancy revealed

Tears of despair strolled down Madam Martha's eyes one after another. Her wrinkled face was red and eyes flickering in dizziness. Her body was too weak to make a move ever since her daughter stepped out of the double doors.

They were still open, the thunder still roaring outside. Thankfully the rain had reduced into a soft drizzle, providing some relief to the old lady who was sitting on the floor by the side of the plush sofa set, constantly wondering about her daughter.

Madam Martha mentally cursed herself. The flashbacks of her past life came running to her mind. Just like her boyfriend had asked her to go away from him, Damien asked Aura. The only difference was that he threw her out of his life over a misunderstanding.

Her heart screamed in pain. She was brave enough to abort her child but Aurora would never do it. It is the symbol of her love. Her motive to live her life.

Alpha Damien was brave enough to not feel affected by Aurora's departure and walk away without any hesitation. But Madam Martha, the lady was not Aurora's biological mother yet her body weakened at the thought of her wandering outside in the dark world at this hour of night. Not to forget the little life growing in her belly. He was safe in his mother's womb but not fully protected as his mother was not under any protection.

'I miss you, baby. I should have gone with you.' Madam Martha sniffled.

Aura wanted nothing from him except for love which he refused to give. She chose not to tell him anything. She's ready to engulf the woes and pains waiting out of the door with open hands but didn't let her decision down.

For a moment Madam Martha was proud of her daughter's decision against the accusations. But being pregnant it would be difficult for her to maintain and live her life stably. She's grown up enough to tolerate these traumas but it was too early.

"I should have gone with you, my baby." She cried again.

Even after being kicked out of the mansion she was smiling as if nothing happened. It ached the old lady. Aura's sweet melodious yet agonizing voice rang in her ears. She covered them to prevent her painful voice from disturbing her but there was no escape. Aura has become a part of her life.

She blinked her wet lashes at the photos scattered around her woefully. Her eyes halted on one of them. She inched closer to pick it up when hasty footsteps approached her. She didn't lift her face for she knew who it was.

"Miss Martha," As she held that photo in her fingers, Madam Martha watched Alpha Damien kneeling down across from her.

Something was stretched out by him that when she looked, made her quake in agony.

"What is this?" He opened the card in front of her so she read the message which she did and sobbed twice.

But then she refrained herself from reacting. She brought the photo across from her eyes and glared at the manly figure who was laying naked with the mysterious woman resembling her daughter. Madam Martha glared at it irrespective of the fact that the alpha was awaiting a reply from her. Then she winced painfully and shredded the photograph into asymmetric pieces aggressively, taking Damien by surprise.

"I asked you something, Miss Martha?" Alpha Damien's deep voice made her pulse beat erratically, threateningly, she couldn't care less though.

She continued to weep until the Alpha's shaky finger went under her chin to lift her face. His cloudy gray eyes met with her melting cinnamon ones. She watched a thick drop of tear stroll below his right eye under his chin as a pulse under his ear throbbed restlessly.

"What do you think it is?" He was about to repeat his words when Madam Martha raised a trembling eyebrow of anger at him.

For a second his eyes suddenly blacked out while being fully conscious. Then he sighed a shallow heave. Turning his face around he tried to avoid her gaze. He had no answer. No words could justify his feelings.

Then he rose. He ran his shivery hands on his wet face while breathing deeply. The card still clutched between his fingers.

"H-how long? Since how long have you known about it? Wh-why didn't she tell me?" He was glared at by the old lady. The sudden change in his behavior made her anger strike up. Her blood boiled, perceiving that he didn't mention her pregnancy directly but used a pronoun.

She got up mighty exasperatedly and caught his arm. Damien was already shocked by her demeanor. When she held his arm in her shaky hold, a current of fear struck his spine. She looked dangerous. Looked like a defeated mother who tried to save her daughter from a destruction that was preventable yet saw her get destroyed helplessly because she was not heard in time.

Her hand struck him across the face. Madam Martha hissed angrily and screamed on top of her voice, "All you men are the same, Damien Hunter! All of you all are jerks and freaking murderers."

She took heavy breaths whereas his head hung low. He deserved more than a slap. Maybe a silver bullet through his heart was the kind of punishment he deserved for what he did tonight.

"You murdered her innocence weeks ago. You murdered her feelings, her happiness and every freaking hope she had of living a happy life with you tonight." Silence engulfed the environment. Their breathings were clearly audible.

The Alpha's head didn't come up. He was too stunned and guilty to face the old woman. She saw what he couldn't despite being with Aurora the most in this mansion. She could see through Aura's innocence at her selfless heart unlike him.

"She loved you so much, Damien." Madam Martha's watery eyes stared up at his hung head. "She tried multiple times to tell you and this card you're holding in your hand is perhaps one of her attempts. But you didn't notice it, Damien."

"I... I... S-she ne-never let me doubt herself." He spoke bluntly.

"But you did tonight." Her words stung him, sending his head even lower. "You doubted her sanity while she was carrying your baby Damien.

She left your mansion tonight because she was scared of her child being accused. She was certain that the photographs you  blindly believed on would not let you think about the baby in her belly."

Alpha Damien forgot how to breathe. Aura smelled his anger and chose the wrong alternative she thought was right.

All the time he accused her, called her names and used an abusive tone with her, she was silent because of the baby. She didn't protest just because she had a life growing inside her that he gave her. The thought alone sliced at his already shattered heart.

"You want to know since when she's pregnant, right? Wait... I'll tell you." Her voice sent a terrible tenseness in his body. Aura had requested her to keep it confidential except now it was not possible. There was no need to hide anything. She won't break her promise as it was him who asked her after reading a greeting card Aura left for him. Madam Martha only wanted to detail his knowledge regarding the message he got.

"I will tell you everything."

He slightly yet curiously raised his head upright watching her storm away towards the servants quarters in which she lived with other staff. Damien felt a pang of anxiety tremble his shoulders as she returned.

"Here... This must help you." She picked his hand he was holding the card in and slapped an envelope on his palm.

It was a report from the second best hospital in the pack. Damien didn't waste time thinking why Aura would go to the second best medic center when his best friend owned the first best hospital in the pack. He quickly yanked out a nicely folded report. As his eyes ventured all over the printed words on the parchment paper, his face became void of any emotions.

The color from his cheeks drained out. His lips erratically shook as more and more tears spilled from his eyes. It was her pregnancy report. Aurora's pregnancy report. Also concluding that the DNA of the little life inside her matched with his DNA, the father of the baby.

When he lifted his face slowly, he met her laughing gaze. "You saw the date, didn't you?" He hadn't until she mentioned it.

Damien kept staring at the date of the report. It was back of the day when he had a party organized for his success.

"She's one month and three weeks pregnant. It was when you both intimated together for the first time." The old housekeeper took a pause. "She got to know about it on the day of your party. You do recall her wearing that weird dress for you, don't you?" Damien stared at the report as if he could see her image from that evening on it like a film projecting on a canvas.

"She dressed for you with the hopes that you would like it and it'd be easy to confront you. She wanted to tell you right there but," Damien closed his eyes feeling like an idiot. Because he recollected humiliating her for wearing that exposing dress.

He became crazily nervous under Madam Martha's gaze when she turned to him. "She tried infinite times but you didn't give her a chance. She was so happy knowing that she was pregnant with your baby. She wanted to share this news with you but you never trusted her. Never."

He wanted to debate on her last statement. That was not true. He did trust her, but then... He sighed, because he had no right to argue. He had lost the chance to debate with her after what transpired tonight.

"You abused her, Damien. You abused the woman who's carrying your flesh in her womb. Do you have the slightest idea what she would do without a father's support for her baby? You don't since you're not in her place. You will never understand because you never loved her." His mouth tasted bitter. Alpha Damien tried to say something but the bitter taste held him back.

He helplessly stood there when Madam Martha snatched the report away from him. She nicely folded the paper and put it back in the envelope. Hugging it to her heart she hiccuped.

"What's the use of talking about it now?" She looked up again with the ultimate gaze that said she was ready to retire.

Damien didn't want her to. Despite his want to listen more, Madam Martha turned around not before announcing, "You didn't give her a chance to speak and now she's gone.  I pity you, Alpha, I so pity you for not being able to see the truth yourself. You didn't just lose a loyal partner but also your child. I pity you."

He didn't stop her or her hurtful remarks. "Some people are born to stay alone. You're one of them. The cursed and soulless one with no destination or future. You grew up alone without a family. So would you die."

He slipped on a couch, his eyes stilled, stunned. He was shedding tears of anguish thinking about Aurora. He lost her. The pictures with Peter and others still creating a havoc in his mind.

He needed someone to talk to. No one was there regardless. His wolf was on silent mode too. On a shock mode as well. He sniffled and cried yet didn't pass a comment, leaving Damien alone with this hellish feeling.

He was crying there to himself in the empty hall that suddenly turned gloomy and suffocating. The space he loved empty so he enjoyed some moments with his Aura felt like attacking him. Wanting to burn him in an intense ominous tranquility. Alpha Damien threw his head in his hands with a small sob.

"Damien," It has not even been a minute when a familiarly irritating voice invaded his ears.

He felt footsteps approaching him from the front. Someone intruded into his mansion and sat next to him on the couch. Then disturbingly shivering hands caught his arm and loud sobs rang near his ear, "Forgive me, Damien, I am responsible for your current state." He peeked through his hands only to find his ex-girlfriend aka the famous model, Ginny Williams, shedding long thick tears.
