Chapter 121 Alpha's agony

Chapter 121 Alpha's agony
121\. Alpha's agony

Alpha Damien's POV

'Damien…'

'Damien…'

Agonizing screams hurt my head. I could see Aura being dragged away towards a tornado. It was whirling crazily and she cried, her hair bouncing all over her face.

My mate. My darling. She was wearing a torn dress. Rather ripped aggressively. There were bruises on her bare arms and a blood trail cascading down her exposed legs. She looked vulnerable. Tortured beyond repair. Her lips were inflated and a puncture in the corner of her lip bled.

'Damien, help me. Save me from that beast. Don't let me go, Damien. Please…'

She was held by the hair and dragged ruthlessly. Aura. My respectful Luna was in the clutches of a black shadow. I couldn't see much as my eyes were blurry. But whatever it was… it's caused harm to my Aura, and only meant to worsen her physical condition.

'Don't let me slip away, Damien. Please… please…'

She held her hand out and yelled my name louder. I jumped and struggled to take her hand, trying my best to reach just the tips of her fingers. That was all I prayed for at that moment.

Just an inch would do. A single inch and rest would be done by me. However, my gaze landed on her stretched out hand.

Aura… her fingers were swollen as though they've been held tight against the ground. As if they've been crushed so she didn't put up a fight.

"Aura," That sight was enough to break the walls of my perseverance.

'Damien…'

'Damien, please…'

She kept yelling. The heaviness and horror in her voice pulsating my heart beats. I felt my skin burn under goosebumps when she was picked up on the shoulder of a laughing creature. His laughter mocking me and my helplessness. My Aura continued her screaming persistently.

'Damien… Damien…'

She was taken inside the spinning tornado and as I kept staring at it, the tornado went out of my reach. Yet, Aura's screams lingered around me.

'Damien…'

'Damien…'

… only growing grimly louder. Harder.

"Damien… wake up, buddy. Damien!" My body quivered as if someone was rocking me by the shoulder.

My Aura was gone. The beast took her. I could do nothing. She had hoped in her eyes. She was hopeful I would save her. Her husband would save her.

"Damn, why is he not waking up, Archer? Is he… did the drug kill him? Speak something." A distant voice urgently cried.

But I was too weighed down by the separation with Aura, nothing else mattered. Nothing.

"Shake him harder, Brian. The paralytic was strong and it was shoved under his neck which is why he's not responding to the antidote. You must shake harder… with all your might." Another voice flared.

My body was suddenly shaking. My hands grew warm as if they were being rubbed.

"I'll give him another dose of antidote." Then there was a piercing pain in the back of my neck.

Excruciating contraction disgorge in the back of my neck, and with a gasp, my eyes flared open to the view of Brian and my best friend, Archer.

"Oh Damien," Brian's red-rimmed eyes blinked in relief.

A grin broke on his vibrating lips and he threw his arms around my shoulders.

"I am sorry, I am sorry," he parroted, his voice painful.

I had no idea what was happening. One moment I was weeping because of my separation with Aurora. Then the next moment… I looked around myself and grasped the whole fiasco unfolding.

"I… ugh, my neck hurts a lot." I found myself sitting on a wet ground in a gazebo.

I was surrounded by my beta, Brian, my best friend who is a doctor by profession, Archer Banks, Oscar… my faithful chauffeur and several dozen guards I knew from hundreds of employees I have hired.

They were all staring at me. I was pinned by a pitiful gaze. Their faces all gloomy as they twisted and shifted their shoulders uncomfortably. Something was wrong and I was yet to comprehend what it was.

"I am sorry, Damien, it's all my fault. I should have told you in the afternoon." Then I brought my eyes back to Brian.

"Why are you crying, Brian? What…" suddenly I recalled Aura and her top-of-the-voice screams.

Then everything hastily played across my eyes like a flashback. I had come here to one of my peaceful places for a date with Aurora.

She was not ready to come here due to some menacing instincts but I pushed her. We were happy. Even feeling blessed. The rain was ringing for us. The winds danced along as we moved our feet. We were lost in each other when someone stabbed me from behind.

My hand automatically went over my shoulder, right under my head. I can feel a swollen wound. It was an inch long… carved by a dagger. As my fingers ran along its length, more memories flooded my head.

Peter Dursley was laughing at me. He was mocking. My Aura was in his filthy arms. He was teasing her, toying with her.

"I told you, Hunter, I told you that I'll enjoy her in my bed."

I recalled him puking boastfully on mouth.

"Aura, h-he… he took Aura with himself. H-he kidnapped my mate." Catching Brian's collars hastily, I madly said. "Peter Dursley kidnapped Aura, Brian."

Silence dropped like a dead weight around us. My eyes spilled with scorching tears and to my shock, Brian lowered his head like a guilty criminal. I observed his own peepers giving away water as loud sobs erupted from his chest.

"I… I am sorry, Damien. He broke out of the dungeons last night and I only learnt about it this afternoon. I.. Forgive me, I was… I had no guts to tell you the truth." He shook badly.

"He broke out last night?" My slips parted, I felt them dry up.

Intense worry numbed my tongue. My whole body ached with pain. It felt as if pins and needles were jabbed all over my skin.

"I don't know what happened but there is nothing in the CCTV footage. It has come to my notice that there was a power outage for about thirty minutes and it was during that time when Peter escaped." Brian said. "I feel someone helped him run away. Someone from inside the security staff."

My teeth clenched. There are no words to describe the uncontainable wrath vibrating in my chest.

"Someone from the staff…" I couldn't help my hands circling tightly around Brian's collars. "Helped him escape. Someone… betrayed me."

Letting go of his collars, I get onto my feet and stop across one of the posts that's holding the gazebo. As I howl loudly with all my strength, my outgrown claws scratch and tear the post. I effuse my anger on the post. It's a mess. Loud cracking and tearing reverberate around us as I howl louder.

"Fucking bastards… I will kill them. Kill all of them. How dare they free him under my nose and think I would let them escape with no wound." Then I fell to my knees as tears flooded like an overflowing river.

My Aura. He fucking abducted my mate right in front of me. I was here and I could do nothing.

"I want the traitors in front of me, Brian. I want them in front of me as soon as possible." Running my hands through my hair, I cry hysterically like a child.

I could feel my men staring at me. They shivered and sobbed themselves. My mate was an angel. She thought of everyone's wellbeing. She respected and cared for everyone like her baby.

'Baby? Damien, Anna…' My wolf's words shudder through me.

Hunter is so agonized, that he won't even breathe properly. He thinks it was his incapability that made Peter take Aura away.

Scooting towards Brian, I lift him up and glare at him. My gaze stopped on his pale miserable, teary face, as I breathed urgently. Fearfully.

"Brian, I hope Anna is safe. You've arranged tight security for her, haven't you? Yes, Brian, my daughter is safe, right?" My voice was hoarse as fear crawled beneath my skin.

The mention of Anna made Brian limp defeatedly. He refused to meet my gaze and burst harder in tears.
