Chapter 15
ISABELLA
They want me... all three of them and they're ready to share me. Am I dreaming? The three hottest guys I've ever met want me... all three... at the same time.
"The girl in the elevator... she said something... something about having to... relieve... you... sexually. That you you have needs..."
They exchange a look I can't describe.
"What else did she say to you?" Knox asks me cautiously.
"I don't know what else. I kind of blacked out after that. She was weird. The whole situation was strange. If you really want to do what you just said, I want sincerity. I can't stand being lied to or taken for a fool again."
"You see? That's exactly what I told you." Jax snaps, rising from his stool. "I want her to be told the truth."
"What? What are you talking about, I want to know." I insist, looking at them in turn.
Jax looks at Asher with determination, while Asher's jaw is clenched so tightly I'm afraid he's going to lose teeth. Knox, on the other hand, looks quite calm and even gives me a little smile. The two elders continue their staring contest and my heart races. What the hell are they hiding from me? If they don't tell me, I'm leaving. I can't do this again. I won't tolerate lies, manipulation and deceit.
"Let's go sit on the couch." Asher finally says before running his hand over his face. He grabs his wine glass with one hand and the bottle with the other, all the while muttering that we'll need it.
"You can have another one don't you." Knox adds with a snort.
I sit down on the couch and Jax and Knox each sit on one side of me. Asher settles into an armchair opposite us, rolling up his sleeves and leaning his elbows on his knees.
KNOX
When I came home and saw Isa with my brothers, I immediately thought this must be what a home would be like. Having her at home with us feels so natural. It's the natural order of things. We're complete. Jax gave me a quick mind-link briefing on what had just happened before I arrived. If things weren't uncertain with our dear mate I might have laughed at the situation, but that idiot Elisa Sanders and her idiot father almost ruined everything. He doesn't know what he's gotten himself into and he's going to pay for it.
Sitting next to Isa on the sofa, I take her hand in mine and to my surprise, she leaves it there. The touch of her skin against mine, I can't ignore the sparks and the heat.
I'm not naturally nervous, but for once, I'm freaking out. I'm afraid she won't accept us and decide to reject us, and I honestly don't know if we'll be able to get past that. I've considered the possibility and the only way out I can think of is to forcibly brand her. After a few years, with the bond, I think she'd forgive us. But it would be better for everyone if she accepted us from the start.
"What I'm about to tell you is... I think... light years away from what you're imagining. What we've kept from you are things we have no right to divulge, but as you've said so well, if we want to build a strong relationship between us, we have to be honest." Asher explains and I have to say, this bastard is really good at it. She nods and he continues. "The world is not as it seems and there are fantastic creatures like werewolves, vampires and fairies. My brothers and I were born werewolves."
I watch Isa drink in Ash's words and she doesn't let on. I don't know whether she believes him or not as he explains all the things we're capable of doing, and when she doesn't react, he continues. And he spills the beans, what we're really up to, that we're the last descendants of the last werewolf king, the bond, that she's our mate, and she looks at him with a blank stare, her hand still in mine.
"Do you have any questions?" Ash asks her. She blinks a few times, then lets go of my hand and stands up.
"Forget I exist." She heads for the entrance and Jax rises to follow her.
"Isabella! Don't go, please. I know this must be a shock to you but take time to think. Don't take us out of your life like this. Please."
She looks at him for a few seconds before pressing the elevator button and stepping inside.
Why do I feel like she said goodbye with a look?
"She's not coming back." Jax said simply, lowering his shoulders.
"If she doesn't come back of her own free will then we'll go after her by force." Ash tells us, shoving his hands in his pockets. "If I have to mark her against her will, I'll do it without hesitation. Even if it means her resenting me... I'll take the responsibility so you don't have to."
"Why do you always have to be like that?" Jax asks him as he turns around, fists clenched along his body. "Fuck you, Asher. You don't have to do anything for me, you don't have to take this responsibility and I refuse to let you forcibly mark her."
They both look at me and I already know which of my brothers I'm going to disappoint with my answer. "I'm ready to mark her by force. I won't pass her by. I refuse."
Jax blows out a breath before slipping away to his room. Seconds later, he emerges with his shoes and jacket.
I don't know how we're going to get out of this situation, it's the first time we've disagreed about an important subject and I honestly don't know how to react. I think they both need time and I hope she'll make the right decision so we don't have to take it for her.
