Chapter 14

JAX

When Stuart informed us of Miss Sanders' visit, I told him to send her up because I thought it might be fun, but I had no idea that when the elevator doors opened I'd be seeing the most beautiful woman in the world. Isabella looks stunning in her red dress. I tried not to stare at her breasts to avoid an awkward moment with my towel.

"Sorry for the inconvenience." Asher tells her, shoving his hands in his pockets. This bastard remains totally impassive, I don't know how he manages to do that.

"Don't be." She says and briefly bows her head. "I shouldn't have come." She adds softly, so softly that I certainly wouldn't have heard her if I didn't have highly developed hearing.

"Is there anything we can do for you?" I ask and she snorts as if there's an inside joke and I didn't know about it.

"I... actually yes." She comes to her senses. "I wanted to know if Knox was here."

I exchange a look with my brother. It's not exactly what I expected. When you go on a great date with a girl, you don't expect her to show up at your place the next day to see your brother.

"He's not here right now, but he should be any minute." Asher replies. "Can I get you a drink while you wait?"

"Yes, thank you." She answers timidly, obviously affected by the scene that has unfolded.

Ash guides her into the living room and I follow, my towel still clasped firmly around my waist. She bobs her head up and down to look at our apartment and the decor. Our Penthouse doesn't exude homeliness, far from it. We were in such a rush to buy it that decorating it wasn't a priority. All the walls are white, there are a few paintings hanging on the wall, chosen by a decorator, but not a single photo. Isabella stops in front of the kitchen counter, while my brother opens the wine cellar and takes out a bottle of Chardonnay. He doesn't bother to ask her what she wants and takes out three glasses.

"Go get dressed. You certainly have to make her comfortable." Asher tells me via mindlink and I excuse myself to my room.

I regret smiling the way I did to Elisa. She hasn't even looked at me once since the fucking elevator doors opened. I put on jeans and a T-shirt as quickly as possible to join them in the kitchen.

ISABELLA

Asher has his back to me, putting out glasses, as I discreetly watch Jax leave for a corridor. God, he's a good-looking guy. I knew he had to have muscles under his clothes, but I didn't think that far ahead.

"None of us knew she was coming here. She's the daughter of a financial partner, which is why we allowed her to come up." Asher says to me as he turns around.

"You don't have to justify yourself you do what you want..."

"I insist." He cuts me off by sliding a glass of wine in front of me. "It would seem that your opinion of us matters to me and my brothers."

I frown, but just as I'm about to bounce off what he's just said, I notice a huge crack in the worktop. I run my finger over it and Asher snorts.

"Don't mention it in front of Knox... it's a sensitive subject." He tells me and I look at him confused.

He chuckles before taking a sip of his drink. "Why are you here? I want the truth."

What the fuck am I supposed to say? The truth? I came to get one of you to sleep with me. I can't fucking say that.

"I... I haven't seen Knox since we had coffee together so..."

"So you decided to come over unannounced. In a dress that looks like it was made for you and shows off your curves." He says, letting his eyes slide slowly over my body. I feel the warmth spread over every parcel his eyes look at. "I said: the truth." He says curtly, looking me straight in the eye.

My lips move in spite of myself. "You didn't want to sleep with me and Jax just kissed me even though we'd had a great time together... or so I thought."

"It was great. I didn't want to ruin it by pushing it any harder." Jax cuts me off by materializing next to me.

"You absolutely wouldn't have ruined anything. I wanted to. You're blowing hot and cold with me and I don't know what to think anymore. Do you like me or not?"

"Yes." They both answer at the same time. I take a sip of wine, embarrassed. I hadn't planned to say so much, and certainly not to both of them at the same time.

"I'm sorry. You're brothers and I'm saying this to both of you..."

"We don't mind." Jax cuts me off as he steps closer to me. "It doesn't bother either of us. The three of us talked about it and we all like you."

I say nothing and finish my glass of wine in one gulp. Maybe with a little more alcohol in my blood, it would make the situation less awkward.

I hear footsteps and Knox's voice echoing in the Penthouse.

"This is the last time I'm going out there alone. Mom hasn't stopped..." He stops talking when he sees me with his brothers, and a broad smile forms on his face. "Hi, pretty girl. Did you come to see me?"

He gives me a hug and kisses the top of my head like we've done it a billion times.

"Knox please sit down. I think we need to clear something up with Isabella." Asher tells him and his little brother looks at him, raising an eyebrow, but he sits down on the stool next to mine anyway. "Isabella, the three of us love you very much. We want to keep seeing you on our own, but also together. We want you. We want a relationship with you. All of us. If you want us, don't worry about the fact that there are three of us and we're brothers. We're ready to share you."
