Chapter 77: DALIA
DALIA
When I woke up, I felt strong. I slowly sit up from the bed and look around. I’m in my room and Ezekiel is by my side, his head on the bed.
I think he feels me move and he quickly raises his head up. “Dalia. You are awake. Thank goodness.” He hugs me and kisses my forehead.
I remember calling him and then putting the prophecy book in the bedside drawer before collapsing. If I need to fight the devils. I really need to stop getting weak after using a certain amount of power.
“You got me so worried. You’ve been sleeping for the past twenty four hours now. I even have to release Jerald so that you will be treated. When I saw you on the floor, you were covered in blood. I was so scared,” he rushes out his words, sounding relieved. I look into his eyes. They look dull. He’s stressed.
“What about Lena? Wasn’t she around to treat me?” I ask. I want to know if he already knows about Lena.
He sighs dejectedly. “She ran away. Sarah said she’s working with the witches. I didn’t believe her. She took us to the forest where the witches' coven is but it’s covered with magic. She believed that you were there. That’s where we were when you called. We rushed back to the pack and while we were distracted with you, Lena escaped. That was enough to tell me that Sarah was right. And I think you already know.”
“Yeah. I and Sarah found out a while ago but we know that you won’t believe us without evidence, that's why I decided to follow her that night. She’s working with the witches. She and Tudor.” I explained.
He looks drained. I’m sure he feels Lena’s betrayal deep in his veins. Lena is like a sister to him. He loved her so much. I wonder why she betrayed him.
I think I know the truth. Lena is a witch, probably a hybrid. But the question is how she managed to hide it all these years. Something is definitely not adding up here.
“But I don’t get it, Zeke. You literally watch her grow up. How did she turn out to be a witch? A hybrid to be precise.”
“It’s all my fault.” Ezekiel mutters as he stands and moves to the window. He looks like a lot of emotions are going through his head. He takes a deep breath and turns to me. “After Selene killed all the witches, a law was set out. I know that the witches will become a problem if I allow the ones who survived to live and I was right.
“Those that survived seek out for revenge. They killed a lot of werewolves. So I put it in my power to wipe out the witches. I thought that was the best thing to do. I did it for my people. But Lena’s mother managed to hide herself well. She pretended to be a human and married Lena’s dad. I wouldn’t have reacted the way I did when I found out the truth if she didn’t kill my people. She was out for revenge. While pretending to be one of us, she kills us. She killed people that meant a lot to me.
“The law is to kill any witch that we find alive. I wanted to keep alive but she gave me no choice. She will be a menace and a danger to us if she lives. She made it obvious. She was killed publicly to set an example and unfortunately Lena saw her being killed. Her father died after the death of her mother. He loved her so much and he couldn’t bear the pain of losing her.
“He was one of my great warriors. I felt guilty for his death. I took Lena in. But for her to forget the past and live her life, she needs to lose the memory of how her parents died. I gave her the last red elixir. It locked her witch's power and made her forget all her past. If she’s working with the witches now. That means she managed to get her powers back and her memories too. I hope she understands why I did what I did.”
He cares for Lena. I can see in his eyes and the way his voice breaks.
“It’s definitely the witches that helped her regain her memories and powers. She harbors great resentment towards you and the witches are taking it to their advantage.” I point out.
“I will explain things to her. I will make her understand. I won’t let her take the wrong path and destroy herself.”
“I know how much she means to you and I will help you,” I say sincerely.
“Thank you, Dalia.”
……
Apparently Tudor ran away. Probably hiding with the witches. They won’t hide for long because it's over for them.
I told Ezekiel how I managed to get the prophecy book. He was proud of me, but also worried that I took such a risk. I know he loves me, but I hope he understands that this is my destiny and I’m bound to take risks.
I gave elder Owen the prophecy book and now we have a solution to our problems. Me, elder Owen, Ezekiel, Nikolai, Criegh, Aaron and Sarah are in a room while we strategize. They all know about Lena and we are all in agreement to save her from the witches. She’s a victim.
From the book, we found out that I possess great power. One that has never been seen in the creation of the world. Only I can lock the gate of hell if I unlock my powers. But to unlock all my powers, I need my destined mate who is Ezekiel. That’s why my mother said that Ezekiel will help me fulfill my destiny.
My destiny is to stop this war by locking the gate of hell forever. And for me to be able to do that, Ezekiel will mark me on a blood moon and my powers will be unlocked. There’s a spell in that book. One that only I can use and that’s after I unlock my powers. With that spell, I will be able to lock the gate of hell and stop this war.
“The next blood moon is in one week and you both need to be prepared for it. There are some rituals stated by this book that you are to do before the mating night and I will carry it out for you both," Elder Owen elaborates, his eyes flicking to everyone in the room.
There’s still more in the prophecy book to learn. Elder Owen said that he will go through them later.
“I know the witches. They won’t be quiet. They will fight back.” Sarah adds.
“We will be ready for them once they do so.” Nikolai replies.
“I know that the witches won’t go down without a fight. They are probably planning something right now. But I believe that whatever it is doesn’t involve the devils. Because to get the devils to help them, they need my blood to unlock the gate of hell.”
“And they will never get it.” Ezekiel cuts in. He was so angry when he learned that the witches wanted to use me as a sacrifice to open the gate of hell.
