Chapter 56 - Alpha Daniel

Allisons pov

“Crap!” I was still fixing the ripped-up sheets when two more guards came by where I was hiding behind the old barracks that had been emptied out. I had no idea where the guards had been ordered to go, but I wasn’t sticking around to find out!

Wrapping the last part around the baby that was looking up at me, her eyes were blue and so innocent, making me start wanting to cry again, my beautiful light that was suffering, her tiny body almost being torn apart because I wasn’t strong enough, my Omega wolf was nothing against the big men that could quickly kill me with one blow, I didn’t care, as long as they didn’t get my baby.

“Mate!” I called him several times, shifting into the small wolf that picked up the rags around the baby, lifting her carefully with my jaws, dangling underneath my head. I needed Daniel, and I couldn’t even feel him! He was closed off, and it was scaring me! my claws taking the first small steps, climbing over the barracks roof, careful not to hit the bundle that was my everything.

“Daniel, I’m going to run, and for the love of the goddess, please don’t stay and fight! I need you! Candice needs you!” I was pleading over the dead link between us when I stopped hearing some gruff voices in the distance; the smell was different in the pack ground like everyone was more beast than human. It was making my head hurt, and my Omega wolf whined like she hated every second of being here, always had the same as me.

“Shit! That big fucker is out; how did he even do that!? Alpha Rick told us that he had made sure that stupid Omega lover was secure in the chambers!” one of the men was snarling it, annoyed and upset over something, when my ears perked up hearing that, Daniel! It had to be him. He was the biggest one of everyone around here, even that filthy bastard that wanted me as a mate; he had no fucking idea what he was getting!

“We need to get there, can’t let him get out and tell the other what happened, or we are going to be fucking gutted! Alpha Rick brought back up, so he should go down fast. Let's just stay back when he takes out the first waves…and then we strike….” The other man made a snicker when they started to shift to the growl coming up from my throat. I was going to kill them all! I was fucking going to gut everyone in this pack myself!

“Daniel, don’t! it’s a fucking trap!” I was screaming inside my head at the top of my lungs, why couldn’t I just reach him!? He was my mate!

“Allie, take the girl and run, now!” I whined, hearing his determined voice. He knew, fucking knew that people were out to kill him, and he was going to make a standoff! No! No, that was not happening! I was coming back to him, and he wouldn’t do this alone!

“NO! You listen to me, Dan! I’m going to get Candice out from the fighting, and then I’m coming back, and we are leaving together after we killed everyone!” I was trying so hard to tell him he couldn’t do this alone, and I was not leaving him, no matter what. He was my mate!

“There are too many, and I’m hurt. You go and… I will deal with these fuckers once and for all… I love you and Candice….” He was clearly saying goodbye when I was screaming no in my head. No, this was not goodbye! We were made for each other. No matter what anyone else said, he was mine!

“Just hold out baby!” I started running faster when I was over the fence, my body was scratched and hurt, but I didn’t care when he didn’t answer me to my pure terror, I had to save him! I had to go faster, pushing my body harder then ever, jumping over the dense forest, hating myself when my pup was crying, and I couldn’t stop! I just couldn’t!

I was panting, making it to the nearest human town. Candice was crying since I had to leap the last part, still scared of what was happening with my mate since I couldn’t feel him, he could be dead, and I wouldn’t even know it!

“Oh, goddess…. Candice… I’m so sorry, I’m so fucking sorry, my beautiful light…. I was too weak; I need to save your father….” I was speaking to the precious girl, starting to calm down, I had no idea how to be a mother, but I would have been a great one. I could feel it in my heart, still hushing the most beautiful being in the world, my light.

I was human again, hidden behind a back alley, holding her to my chest, feeling myself crying over having to leave her. This was not how I had imagined her life to look like… she was the daughter of an Alpha, and being wrapped in rags, my burning tears spilling down, my beast was howling over the deep despair in my heart.

I wanted to stay with her, but I couldn’t leave my mate. I had to get to Daniel, and I knew that the surge would kill her, just like everyone else that came close enough to me.

“I’m coming back, okay? I’m coming back with your father and….” My voice was too sore to speak, my lips trembling with every word, knowing that it probably wasn’t true, this was the end, and I knew it. Staring into the pure eyes that were the best part of my mate and me. she wasn’t tainted, not like me, and I wouldn’t drag her into this world.

I would hide her from everyone… that was the only way…

“I will hide you, yes…. My precious light…. I’m going to hide you from this world….” I was speaking softly now… my eyes were calm against the blue that was looking into my soul, making me smile more, so beautiful…. I was still holding her when her eyes closed from yawning, feeling safe in my arms, and opened up again, blue replaced by dark eyes.

I was smiling more, walking out into the street and seeing a place that smelled of people, death, and hope… I was still walking when someone was calling at me; seeing me place the small bundle down on the stairs, my heart calmed, and still not. I hope she forgave me one day for doing this to her.

“Goodbye, my light….” I whispered it when people started to come towards me. I was naked among humans and still looking younger, like a lost teenager leaving my baby at the bottom of the stairs.

“Hey, wait! I can help you! Please!” my eyes flashed silver when the man with kind ones was looking at me, worried when I smiled sadly back, nodding to him and turning, starting to run away from the crowd of humans, knowing that they would never catch me even if they tried.

I was going back to my mate, hoping to the goddess that someone would care for my light, love her like I did, and protect her like Daniel would.

The howl was heard all over the city when my beast took one last look at the tall building where I had left my pup before circling around and disappearing into the wild forest.
