Chapter 22: Alpha Daniel

Milly's pov

I’ve been feeling like crap for a couple of days now; it's worst in the evenings, like a searing pain in my abdomen making me hiss in pain; it only goes on for about 45 minutes, and then it stops, just like that, it’s not enough for me to be worried that I’m dying or something like that. Still, anyone’s the hell out of me when I’m at work or in class.

It’s been two weeks since the most perfect man on earth had sex with me, and I’m ashamed to say that it doesn’t matter if he left me high and dry. I still would let him do me in a heartbeat if he walked up to me and asked for another round.

God, I’m such a slut, for a man that obviously wanted one thing and left me, pathetic.

I stare out of the big windows, dressed in my waitress outfit of a black t-shirt and skirt, just above my knees. I wasn’t like the other girls having their skirts under the ass, just for the tips, but hey, I didn’t judge. I wish I was that kind of confident.

This was the worst part about one of my jobs; being here reminds me of him. I keep glancing at the tables in the back, thinking he'll be there with his obnoxious, rude friend, but he never is.

The pain comes from my chest this time, making me blink several times. After crying my heart out for three days, I promised myself that I would just forget about him like he never existed like he didn’t take my virginity and left.

I shake my head a put on a smile walking over to one of my tables; it's 4 guys, they are a bit tipsy, but nothing I can’t handle. They usually go for one of the prettier girls like Shane. Still, she’s not on tonight, and I just took this shift cause Anne, the owner, had asked me to cover for Shane, who was sick.

“Hello, boys; what can I get you today?” I’m not flirty like Shane, and she tried to teach me. Still, I suck at it, making guys cringe more than leaving a bigger tip, thinking I’m being cute, so I just try to be friendly instead.

They all snap their heads at me simultaneously; it looks ridiculous, making me want to laugh, but I bite my lip and try not to make a fool out of myself for laughing at my customers.

“Four specials and a pitcher, sweetheart.” I raise my eyebrows; did he just call me sweetheart? And was that lust I saw in their eyes? I just nodded and walked over, leaving my order in the kitchen. Still confused about getting male attention, I served some of my other tables. I seemed to get all of the attention suddenly from men of different ages; even one of them left me a huge tip. I gazed at the number written on it before frowning at the middle age man that had written it. He had a wedding ring on him. I crumbled the paper and tossed it away. I wasn’t some cheap whore that would call. I sighed and heard my order for the first table was up and walked over with the pitcher and glasses ignoring the way they were all having stupid smirks on their faces, and left again for their plates.

“Maybe she has a mate?” I had a blank face serving them plates fast. They looked good; they did but not as good as Ben… fuck…. Fuck again, I didn’t want to think about him, and these guys were making me nervous. I didn’t like how they looked at me like I was a piece of meat for them to fight over.

“Nah, man, she has no mark. I already checked that out, and his too stupid to leave her, then that’s just plain fucking stupid.” I gulped when I walked away. They didn’t even bother covering up what they were talking about, me.

I wanted to get the hell out here, but they didn’t seem right, like they were just waiting for me to get off my shift and jump me walking home.

I glanced back and swore to God that I saw their eyes being all black before snapping my head back into place, scared shitless. What the fuck was happening all of a sudden?!

My life was going haywire since I met that stupid man I let get into my pants, like an avalanche waiting to happen, destroying everything in its path.

I walked over to the kitchen again, not wanting to linger by the tables more than I had to when I waited for my orders to get ready. I spent the rest of the night avoiding the guys sitting there for longer than necessary, watching me before getting up and walking out, leaving no tip either, bastards.

I was cleaning the table on my way back when I felt the pain again in my abdomen, making me fall over slightly and lean against the table. I was still cleaning, eyes scrunched together in pain.

That’s when I felt it, ocean and freaking lemons.

I opened my eyes and let my eyes seek over the crowd of people all having a good time chatting and laughing when I finally saw him.

My heart freaking stopped.

He was looking as sexy as the last time, in dark jeans and a shirt this time, a loose-fitted one that was opened at the top displaying that hard muscle chest my fingers had been running over with, feeling every bump like it was the back of my hand.

Dark tussled hair that seemed like he just got up from bed covered his pure blue eyes, which were shut at the moment while having his tongue down the throat of the stunning brunette in his arms.

I felt sick to my stomach from seeing him kissing another girl, like my heart was shattering again, for the hundredth time since I first saw him two weeks ago.

I don’t know why, but I felt betrayed like I had been let down for the first time in my life, and he was the cause.

The pain in my abdomen grew stronger, and the girl getting handsy and less dry humping him, already sitting at the same booth as the last time I saw him, they must have gotten seated when I was still in the kitchen, and they were in my section.

Absolutely freaking great!

I wanted to kill him for some reason, pure anger coursing through me as I approached them. I knew he just wanted a one-night stand, and he had made it very clear by showing up with this pretty girl. She was older than me, too, like my complete opposite; she was soft, giggling, and had a curvy body that would make any man drool, goddam bastard.

If he had moved on, so would I. He could go drown himself for all I cared, better yet! I was going to find the first guy on the street and sleep with him. I didn’t owe anything to the man in front of me. He was drunk again, not like some of the other customers, just enough not to notice me standing there, just like the girl he was grouping, tangled together like snakes.

“You smell so good….” He mumbles in the girl’s ear, making me snap when she giggles again; every muscle in my body is tense, my jaw is tense, and I could kill him with my eyes right now, so help me, God, I would.

“What can I get you?” I snap at the loving couple in front of me when they stare at me. The girl looks annoyed at me for being rude and breaking up her makeup session with my man.

Fudge! He’s not my man. Get them into your head Milly! I bark at myself when I finally meet his eyes. They are the same pure blue color as last time, only now I swear they were black inside them, sucking me in even more than last time.

I break our line of sight and stare at the table, waiting for their order, not that I give a shit about it, but I don’t want to get fired for leaving my shift, and I need my job until I can get into nursing school.

He looks ashamed, and a part of me is dancing with happiness that he is suffering from seeing me standing here like a ghost haunting him. The other part of me is dying, really. All I want to do is cry.

I bit my lip hard, feeling the blood that came out, and still staring at the table, avoiding all eye contact with both of my supposed patrons.

“I’ll have a margarita and make it snappy…. What you want, baby?” the brunette turns her head. She sits next to where I’m standing, his arm still around her neck and shoulders, he pulls back as soon as he sees my eyes follow his long arm that has slithering tattoos underneath that sleeve, and I sneer from the movement. How cute; at least he had some decency in him!

“Baby?” she says, but he doesn’t seem to hear her. I feel those blue eyes staring at me, burning a hole when I don’t even bother trying to reply to anything he does.

When he doesn’t answer for the second time, she turns to me, obviously annoyed that he is giving me all the attention she was getting just minutes ago.

“He will have a pitcher and Jack Daniel. She smirks at me as I nod and walk away, still feeling those burning eyes at the back of my neck. Walking over to the bar and giving them the order, I want to get out of here like right now; the burning has stopped, but my heart is shattered.

I quickly wipe away the few tears that escape my eyes, hoping that my makeup isn’t ruined when I pick up the tray and walk back over.

The girl is so freaking pissed off now, and I hate myself for glancing back at him, his eyes filled with shame and regret, still sitting next to the fuming hot girl he came here with.

“Margarita for the lady, and jack and beer for the manwhore.” I gulp as I see his eyes widen like he didn’t just hear me say that shit… shit I said it out loud, didn’t I!? I’m still holding the trey trembling a bit, from how angry I am and scared. I should just walk away, my job is done right now, but I’m standing here like a goddamn idiot frozen to the core staring back into the eyes of a man I don’t know but have claimed as mine from the moment I saw him for the first time.

“We fucked once, Milly. Get over it.” His voice is cold and pushes me away when I take a few steps back, stumbling on my high heels and looking back at him destroyed.

His eyes were back to pure blue again, and I just nodded in reply when he sighted and put his arm around the girl who looked like she had won the lottery.

Sure.

Sure.

We fucked once; it’s not like I gave him my virginity or anything like that!

The sadness that drowned me moments ago is replaced with anger, boiling furious anger that I’ve never felt against anyone, ever in my life, as I take hold of the pitcher, and before I know it, I’m dumping it all over him, getting the brunette to as casualty when both scream out from the shock of the cold liquid finding its way all over their bodies.

“You fucking bitch, I’m going to kill you. Get the fucking manager here already!” the brunette shrieks at me when I have a smile on my face now, showing no signs of regret when Anne comes running over, looking horrified at her guest and me. The rest of the guests are watching, amused over what happened, the place suddenly dead quiet from my moments.

“Oh my god, what happened here, Milly?!” she turns to me, still horrified. She knows me, knows I’m not an angry person. In fact, I’m the opposite of it, I’m kind and gentle to everyone I meet, and I don’t pick a fight with anyone for any reason.

“She did this. She just picked it up and dumped it over us. What kind of people do you have working here? She should be fired and fucking sued for this!” the brunette, still panting, trying to wipe herself off, but I don’t care about her. My eyes are on him, he hasn’t moved a muscle since I drowned him in beer, and all I can see of his eyes are small glimpses covered by his black hair that is flat on his face.

Suddenly he takes his hand and swipes it all back, looking like he's in a commercial for shampoo, making me swoon just like every other woman in the room, including my boss, for two seconds before I remember that I hate him and narrow my eyes again, arms crossed over my chest, I’m not sorry.

“For fuck’s sake, Milly!!!” He curses my name like he knows me like he is feeling the same pull, and my heart betrays me and flutters for a few seconds before he meets my eyes again, and the fluttering dies. They are stone cold, not giving me an inch of what I want, confirmation that I’m not crazy.

“I’m so sorry. She has never done anything like this; she will be reprimanded!” Anne hisses at me, catching my eyes at the end, apologizing to the bastard and whore in the booth. I scoff and roll my eyes. I don’t care what the hell I get. I would do it again in a heartbeat.

“I want her fucking fired, not reprimanded!” the brunette shrieks again, all while Ben is just looking like he rather is anywhere else. I feel the same way.

Anne looks at me, and she hesitates, I am a good worker, and I always fill in if someone is sick or it’s a holiday, but people have their phones up, and she needs to keep her business more than she needs me.

“I’m sorry, Milly, but I’ll have to let you go...” I just nod and get a small, crooked smile on my lips. I’m still not sorry for getting him back, but I will miss this place and the people working here since I live alone.

“Sure.”

I can barely make the word past my lips and turn around, walking away from the table. God, I wished that Shane had been working tonight instead of me.
