Chapter 83 Celeste

Chapter 83 Celeste
Celeste's POV

Liam’s kindergarten is located within rogue clan territory, but it doesn’t belong to any specific rogue group.

Everyone can come there without being checked by a warrior. Therefore, Alpha Eiden and the members of the werewolf-hating organization could roam the school grounds without hesitation.

I was sitting in the playground, chatting with Margot about the virus that was attacking the children of the leaders in the rogue clan.

“I want to know who created and spread that virus.” Margot crossed her arms across her chest, her lips pursed. “I’m so annoyed with them. They have no conscience.”

“I want to know who they are, too.” I nodded. “They’re truly incomprehensible.”

“Yes, that’s right.” Margot frowned. “Why did they create a virus that only affects the children of the leaders?”

I shrugged, my face confused.

Of course, I knew why the organization created such a virus.

The information my group had gathered so far about the organization was that most of them were wild werewolves.

They were either expelled from their packs for crimes they committed or decided to leave for various reasons. Then, they didn't want to join other packs or rogue groups.

Instead, they joined the organization and created a virus that attacked the children of the leaders of the rogue clans. Not all members hated rogues; most simply needed a job.

The founders of the organization wanted to exterminate the rogues because they hated them. Therefore, they paralyzed the children of the leaders, rendering their five senses inoperable.

All of this information is unknown to the general public. Not even all the leaders in the rogue clans know about it, as not all leaders contact rogue assassin groups for information.

If I were hungry for praise, I would have told Margot, but she loves to gossip. She would spread it to her friends, and then the information would become public knowledge.

Another danger was that Margot would become curious about who I really was and learn about the man who hid behind a mask and a hat.

However, it seemed Margot wasn't the only one curious about the man, as Alpha Eiden's strange appearance had indeed attracted a lot of attention.

I was worried that Alpha Eiden's identity would be revealed because I had to be able to prevent other people from glancing at me.

“But not all of the leaders’ children were infected with the virus,” I said. “I’m more curious about how they spread it.”

“You’re right.” Margot snapped her fingers and nodded. “They must have done a lot of experiments, because the virus is more likely to affect the leaders’ children.”

“Sure,” I agreed. “They’ve done dozens of experiments.” I stared at Margot, my eyes wide, as we had the same thought. “Who were the subjects of the experiments?”

“There were never any reports of the leader’s children going missing, were there?” Margot asked, digging through her memories. “I never miss a beat. I know everything, even what doesn’t appear on television, newspapers, or the internet.”

I wasn’t surprised to hear that. Margot had many friends. That gossipy woman was indeed like a spy.

“You’re right.” I nodded. “No one reported their children missing.”

“The virus attacks the leaders’ children, so they must be using them as experiment subjects,” Margot said.

“That’s so strange.” I met Margot’s gaze again. Our faces were filled with confusion. “But it’s a shame we’ll never know about that organization.”

“That’s the most frustrating thing about this case.” Margot’s shoulders slumped.

“But shouldn’t civilians be aware of this?” I asked her.

Margot jumped in surprise with her eyes bulging as if they were about to pop out, and she looked around anxiously. “I forgot about that.”

“We’re lucky we found out.”

"I won't talk about this with anyone, including you, again." Margot was worried that someone would overhear our conversation, and then she would be caught by her Alpha.

I indirectly warned Margot to stop thinking about the virus because the rogue leaders didn't want the information leaked to the werewolf clan, even though some of the werewolf Alphas already knew, not knowing who spread the information to them.

Fortunately, the Alpha werewolves didn't exploit the Alpha rogues' misfortune to attack their group or send people to kill their children.

My members and I have agreed not to accept requests to kill the children of the rogue group leader who are infected with the disease or to sell information regarding the names of those poor children.

So, of course, it wasn't my group that spread information about the virus to the Alpha werewolves.

I thought about Margot's words for a moment. My group and I never questioned who the virus experiments were conducted on. Our focus was solely on identifying the locations of the four organizations’ headquarters and the leaders, founders, and investors of each.

"Liam, Levi. Do you want to sit in that forest?" My question startled my two sons.

Liam just got out of school. Levi and I were waiting for him in front of his school.

“Is it just us?” Liam asked cautiously, looking straight behind me, searching for Alpha Eiden, as we were always with him when we went into the forest.

“Yeah.” I nodded, holding back an amused smile, seeing Liam’s disappointed expression. “Do you not like us sitting there without him?”

Liam smiled shyly, lowering his head.

“Sitting in the forest! I like it!” Levi cheered happily.

I didn't want to go home right away. If possible, I'd like to be back by sunset, so I don't have to stay at the base for too long.

Luckily, I found an excuse to take my two sons to the forest to eat the lunch I made, but I couldn't use the same excuse every day.

I was really uncomfortable with Beta Dylan. The more he believed I liked Alpha Eiden, the more he became obsessed with making me his.

Strangely, Beta Dylan still didn't want anyone else to know about his true feelings for me.

'Trust me. He’ll tell everyone else once you’re his,' my wolf said. 'Because he’ll be so embarrassed if you keep rejecting him after everyone knows he loves you.'

'That makes sense.' I agreed with my wolf. 'He’s avoiding the scenario of me rejecting him in front of everyone.'

By the Moon Goddess, I would never love Beta Dylan because he’s my mate’s younger brother. Benedict wouldn’t even want to see us together.

“Will the lake freeze in winter?” Levi asked me curiously.

We had finished lunch and were due home in half an hour.

I ignored the vibrations from my work and personal phones in my shoulder bag. No one would call me at this hour except Beta Dylan. He must be reminding me to hurry back.

“I don’t know.” I shook my head. “We’ll find out when winter comes.” I stroked Levi’s hair. “Just wait another two weeks.”

“I can’t wait.” Levi raised his hands in the air with a wide grin, showing his teeth that had not all grown in yet. “Are we going to this forest in winter?”

“Yeah, we’ll come here after Liam gets home from school, but we can’t stay too long. The important thing is to find out if the lake is frozen,” I said.

“We don’t know what the winter temperature is like in this area.” Liam understood what I meant.

“If it’s really cold, I’ll freeze.” Levi hugged his arm. Liam and I laughed.

I wasn't too worried about the werewolf-hating organization approaching us because David and the warrior, the driver, were guarding us at the entrance of the forest, which was twenty steps away from us.

Don't forget my spy agency and the Alpha Eiden spy warrior, who were watching from a distance.

Sitting in the forest with my two sons, I felt free, as if we were just civilians, and unthreatened by anyone.
