Chapter 115

Three months later

Everything feels normal but it’s not. Kathy didn’t want to live with her parents, so Seth gave Kathy a nice-sized house for her and the babies. Sometimes nanny would come over to help Kathy, making things a bit easier. Melody, Kai, and Leon are ready for solid food, so Kathy got a feeding table so she can sit the babies in and give them their food to stay. Also, she has to be careful trying different things with them in case they are allergic to anything. Kathy has been making her own baby food as she sits down on the floor to their eye level, making mealtimes feel more personal and comforting. Kathy smiles at them and starts to feeding them, and smiling but at the same time Anthony should be here with them helping her raising their children.

Grace remained persistent, encouraging Kathy to consider dating again—even other vampires expressed interest, but Kathy politely declined their advances. After each meal, Kathy would hand out cookies for the little ones to gnaw on while teething, along with their training cups filled with breast milk. Somehow, Melody, Kai, and Leon frequently managed to bite holes in their bottles, leaving milk spilled all over their cribs. Kathy stepped into the kitchen to quickly prepare a meal. She soon returned to the table; a lot of things has happened but in the back of her mind she wanted to know how Anthony is doing. Kathy took out her cellphone and hopes that Sarah still has the same number, but quickly change her mind and put the phone down on the table as her little one happy and healthy.

Kathy also finds ways to help her mother and father around the kingdom, learning about the responsibilities that come with their unique heritage. On some days, Seth trains Kathy in sword fighting and hand-to-hand combat, pushing her to develop strength and confidence, though Grace often steps in to halt the lessons whenever they become too intense and blood is drawn.

Occasionally, the vampire elders visit Seth to discuss important matters of business, and they never miss the chance to play with the babies. The elders cherish these moments, especially as Melody begins to manifest her powers—lifting objects whenever she’s excited and causing the ground to tremble when she’s upset. To help Melody manage her abilities, Raine crafted a special bracelet for her, ensuring she can keep her powers in check until she’s old enough to control them safely.

After Kathy put the babies down for a nap in their playpen while she clean up but in the back of her head she really want to come Sarah so as she put down the dish cloth and grab her phone off the table and when into her contact to look for Sarah once she found and push the button. Kathy phone starts to ring.

“Hello?” said Sarah

“Hi, Sarah it’s Kathy. It’s been while since we talk,”

“Lady Kathy, how you and the babies been?”

“We are good, and you and Miles. How is the pack?”

“Everyone is great and Miles is in the meeting with the other alphas. Oh, I want to show you something turn on your camera,”

Kathy did as she was told and turn on her camera to see Sarah smiles.

“You are pretty like always. You have that glow. Wait, are you pregnant?”

Sarah points the camera down to show Kathy her stomach and bring the camera back up.

“Yes, I am three months pregnant with twins. When the doctors told us, Miles passed out right there in the office after hearing the news. Anyway, I’m so happy to hear your voice again—everyone was worried, even the pack. Amy tried calling you a few times, but it always went to voicemail,” Sarah said, her eyes shining with excitement.

“I know I see it; I just want to be in my right mind before I can talk to anyone. Also, Melody got her power so Raine has to make a special bracelet for her until she is older and control them,” Kathy added, her tone a mix of relief and concern.

“I am happy you are alright,”

“Yes, before I go. How is Anthony?”

“Anthony is doing well, just keeping himself busy as usual. He’s been helping out around the kingdom and the pack, but you know how he gets when he’s focused on something. He doesn’t want to mate or date anyone. All he wants to do is work to become the next king however Lord Frances thinks that he is not ready to take on the roll yet,” Sarah explained, her voice soft with understanding. “Anthony is determined and focused, but Lord Frances believes he still needs more experience before he can handle the responsibilities of leadership.”

“I see, well I have to get going because the little ones will wake up soon. You take care of yourself,” Kathy said with a gentle smile, her tone warm but tinged with fatigue from the early hour. “Let’s talk again soon, okay?”

“Yes, you take care,”

Kathy ended the call and sat quietly for a moment, a gentle smile lingering on her lips as she thought of Sarah and Miles expecting their first babies. The thought filled her with true happiness—it was easy to imagine Miles beaming with pride, and Sarah’s excitement was infectious even through a screen. But as Kathy’s mind wandered, her thoughts drifted to Anthony. She remembered the first time she met him—how frightened and lost he had been, and how she’d stepped in just in time to save him from a terrible injury. She had believed she was rescuing a stranger, only to later learn it was Noah who paid the rouges to attack Anthony.

Now, with the mate bond broken, Kathy wondered if she had really set him free. She hoped so. Maybe, without the pressure of destiny, Anthony could discover who he truly wanted to be and perhaps open his heart to love again. The ache in her chest made her eyes sting. She wiped away a stray tear, took a steadying breath, and forced herself up to finish cleaning the kitchen. She peeked in on the babies, reassured by their peaceful sleep, before finally stretching out on the couch. As her thoughts swirled, Kathy closed her eyes, letting the quiet of the house carry her into a bittersweet and much-needed nap.
