Chapter 17 Chapter 17
(Martha's POV):
I sat on the bed, scanning the furnished room as the distant sound of music filled the air.
I guessed I was still in the restaurant, and my mind surmised that my boss lived here in the private suite.
Just as I was lost in my thoughts, the door swung open and a young lady rushed into the room.
"Hi, you must be Martha, right?" she asked softly, and I smiled, despite the turmoil in my heart. She was a werewolf too.
She had black eyes like Mr. Weston, and it was difficult to tell that she was a werewolf.
"I am Tina Miles, Jasper's personal doctor," she said, laughing despite seeing my worried face.
Mr. Weston stepped further into the room, standing tall and elegant, but he assured me with a calm voice, "You can trust Tina. She will not hurt you. We left the pack together."
I looked between Dr. Tina and Jasper and gulped back what I had wanted to say.
"Got it," I replied, but my voice lacked confidence as I watched Tina pull her bag off her shoulder. She unlocked it and brought out a big dark bottle. She unfastened the cap and removed four long pills for me to swallow.
As Jasper fetched me a glass of water, Dr. Tina smiled and handed the pills to me.
"Here, swallow these. They will help flush out the sperm you're carrying," she said softly, and I hesitated to accept the pills from her hand.
"Won't it have any side effects? I am not a werewolf," I said, looking between Dr. Tina and Mr. Weston.
Jasper stepped forward, his voice gentle as he said, "Martha, do you want to have werewolf babies? It's not bad if you have them, but the problem here is that you were mated to an alpha and he marked you… his pack members won't accept you as their Luna."
"What's a Luna?" I looked between Mr. Weston and Dr. Tina as they stood before me. Both of them urged me to swallow the pills in my right palm.
"A Luna is like a queen. She governs the pack, guides them, and takes care of the pack members in the presence and absence of her husband. She is a queen in our pack and the one who births the alpha heirs," Mr. Weston explained, his tone steady but firm.
Dr. Tina also chimed in, saying, "Not just that. A Luna has to be strong in case the pack comes under attack, to protect our pack. You are a human and a target to our pack members because they wouldn't trust you not to hurt them. Humans are hunting werewolves, and if they learn of our real existence—that it's not just a myth or a folktale—we will be doomed. So you have to swallow this."
Dr. Tina looked at me with assurance, urging me to take the pills.
"Alright," I agreed as I placed the four long pills into my mouth. They were tasteless, so I accepted the glass of water and gulped it down.
Once I swallowed the four pills, Dr. Tina and Mr. Weston smiled with relief as they continued watching me.
"So what happens next?" I asked, but I felt my stomach tighten and I was gasping for air the next moment.
"I can't breathe," I muttered, struggling to inhale.
"What's wrong with her?" Mr. Weston asked Dr. Tina as he rushed to my side to hold my arms.
"Calm down, Martha. Breathe in deeply, and out. You will be fine," Mr. Weston said, his tone gentle, and I saw Dr. Tina frown at Mr. Weston's hands on my shoulders. Was she in love with him? Did she think I was trying to get Mr. Weston's attention and she wanted to get rid of me?
"Tina, what did you give her?" Mr. Weston growled at Dr. Tina, who trembled and stared at me.
"They are abortion pills. She will be fine. She just needs to endure the pain. I assume the alpha's sperm has already fertilized one of her eggs, and that's why she is suffering. She will need to take more of these pills tonight to get rid of the sperm. Otherwise, she has already conceived his baby."
"What?" I gasped, trembling. I didn’t want to have any werewolf babies. What would people say? What if our rulers found out and captured my baby?
"No, please… I can't have a werewolf baby. Get rid of it for me…" I cried, peering at Dr. Tina's face, and she smiled.
"Good. Then you must take these often," she offered the bottle to me, but before I could take it, Mr. Weston snatched the bottle and quickly read the label.
It read: Pregnancy prevention pills.
"Let's hope this works," Mr. Weston said, a wave of relief washing over his features.
"You can leave, Tina. I will send for you," Mr. Weston said, his voice firm. Tina blushed and replied, "Got it. Take care, Martha. I will come over to see you tomorrow, as it's already late."
Just then, I gazed out the window through the slightly opened brown curtain and saw that night had fallen.
"Mr. Weston, I have to start going home," I said, attempting to stand up from the bed, but Mr. Weston stopped me.
"No, Martha. You cannot leave this room. First, your blood donation is not completed. Secondly, you cannot return home to your family. You should stay here for a while," he said firmly as he rose from my bedside.
"But…" I wanted to refute, but Mr. Weston stopped me. "Martha, you should learn to feel free with me. I already told you that I like you, but I am not going to force you or take advantage of you. I will give you time to accept me." His eyes peered into mine calmly, as if he truly had desire for me.
"You're a werewolf. I can't be in love with a werewolf," I replied, looking away from his face. I spoke with a steady tone. "Sir, I appreciate your help. But I cannot marry you. I cannot take anything from you."
"It's fine. Just stay here for now until you recover, alright? I am begging you to stay," Mr. Weston insisted, and I sighed.
"Alright." I laid back on the bed, and I felt something slip down my legs.
"Ahh!" I gasped, seeing the pool of blood over my legs. Mr. Weston rushed back to the bed.
"What happened? Is it the drug's effect? Wait, let me call Tina to find out what's wrong," Mr. Weston said, his voice trembling as he swiftly called Tina.
"Tina, where are you?"
"I am on my way back to the hospital. I told you I am on night shift," she replied, her tone firm.
"Got it. But Martha, she is bleeding. You didn't mention that she would bleed," Mr. Weston said, his tone worried as if he was going to lose me.
"Jasper, I told you that an alpha's sperm is stronger and more active. It seems she was already pregnant and the medicine is trying to terminate it. It will need more medicine to get rid of the baby, but if she continues bleeding, I advise that she stop taking it," Dr. Tina spoke firmly, and Mr. Weston looked depressed.
"Is there no other way?" he managed to ask weakly.
"No. Unless she goes for a surgical abortion. But that's after the fetus has developed," Dr. Tina said firmly before adding, "I will call you later. I am driving now."
The call ended and Mr. Weston looked at me as if he was defeated.
