Chapter 20

"I slept well, how about you?"

"Not very soundly because I had a dream last night."

"Really? Dreaming what?"

"Dreaming you came and asked me to dance with you!" Lucas said in a teasing tone. Layla smiled and thought it was a funny joke. But seeing the two of them getting along so quickly made Keith feel unhappy.

"You two got along really quickly, huh? Looks like you two are perfect!"

"Are you jealous, Keith?" Lucas calmly countered Keith's attack. He knew Keith was very easily provoked and thought it would be very funny to make Keith feel annoyed.

"Tsk, you bastard! Who's jealous?"

"Of course you are, it's clear that you're jealous of my closeness to Layla, isn't that right?"

"Damn it, don't mess with me, bastard...!" Keith, who was provoked by emotion, immediately got up from his seat and grabbed Lucien by the collar. His very fast movements shocked Layla. It was clearly not a human movement, it was too fast that she didn't realize Keith had already attacked Lucien who was sitting opposite him.

"You want to hit me? How cruel!" Lucien still continued to tease him, making his anger rise even more.

"Damn you-"

"Keith...!" Lucien, who had remained silent and maintained his composure, immediately took on the role of leader. Lucien gave him a very cold and dark gaze, making anyone who looked at him shudder in horror. The look in his eyes held great power and that power was able to make Keith seem like he couldn't move.

"Stop it before I act!" Lucas said.

Keith knew that he couldn't go against Lucas' orders. But on the one hand, he felt even more annoyed seeing the grin on Lucien's face who seemed to be laughing at him.

Keith released his grip and sat back in his chair. The atmosphere became silent as they started eating the food on the plates.

This silence and tension made it difficult for Lyra to swallow her food. Occasionally she glanced at the seven men one by one to observe their faces. Strange, this was the first time she saw a family with such beautiful faces. Their bodies and faces are almost perfect as if sculpted by a legendary sculpture artist. But currently what caught her attention the most was the silver-eyed young man sitting right beside her. In her entire life she had never seen such beautiful eye color, like a very rare diamond.

"If you want to say something just say it!" Gavin suddenly spoke just as she was thinking about it.

"Does she know I'm thinking about him?" Lyra thought. She felt very amazed and embarrassed because it seemed like Gavin could read her mind.

"I-I didn't want to say anything." She said in denial. She felt that these seven brothers looked unusual and they were clearly strange.

After breakfast, Lyra was asked to come with Lucas somewhere. Lyra was even asked to sit next to Lucas. However, throughout the journey, Lucas was silent and didn't talk to her at all.

"Where are we going?" Lyra asked. She was quite curious because they had not yet arrived at their destination even though they had been driving for almost 30 minutes.

But even though she had asked, Lucas seemed reluctant to answer the question. Lyra became increasingly anxious because it was very difficult for her to guess Lucas' train of thought.

After being patient for 20 minutes, the car they were traveling in stopped in front of a magnificent building that was familiar to Lyra. A hotel cum casino that belongs to Jonathan Smith.

"This casino?" She thought. She knew this casino very well because Jonathan had taken her to this place several times and asked her to accompany VIP guests. That's right, as the wife of a casino owner as grand as this, she was doing tasks she shouldn't have to do.

Often the VIP guests who came to place their bets asked her to serve them sexually if they managed to win the bet and Jonathan was happy to oblige.

After a bodyguard opened the car door for her, she walked hesitantly behind Lucas who was waiting for her with an expressionless face. She was scared and wondered what they really wanted to do in this place.

It's still too late in the day and usually Jonathan will come to this place to check on many things. If they came now, there was a chance they would meet Jonathan and she really wasn't ready to see the man's face right now.

"What's wrong? Let's go!"

"What did we actually want to come here for?"

"I have business here, I want you to accompany me."

"But why should I? Wouldn't it be better if one of your brothers accompanied you? I don't understand the business world at all and I also-"

"They have work they need to finish before evening. You don't need to worry, no one will dare to hurt you here!" Lucas said. Even though he said that, Lyra actually felt the opposite. For some reason, she had a feeling that she would meet Jonathan here.

"But I-" Layla refused to move. She was too afraid and not ready to meet the husband who had sold her to another man.

Lucas grabbed her hand, Layla was shocked. It felt really strange, Lucas's hand felt very warm, even much warmer than she expected.

"I know what you're worried about. But you don't need to be afraid, I won't do anything that will hurt you. You can choose to trust me, but if not, you can get in the car and wait until I come back." He said. Lyra felt touched, she don't know where this feeling came from. But this was the first time she felt that Lucas wasn't actually a bad man.

"O-okay, I'll come with you!" She said. Her doubts slowly disappeared as she decided to trust Lucas completely.
