Chapter 134
Victoria was in the living room, restless and anxious.
Just then, the doctor who had been handling her condition called, urging her anxiously. "Ms. Gonzalez, weren't you supposed to have the abortion? How come I heard your husband took you away that day?"
"I..." Victoria was at a loss for words. She didn't know how to explain this.
The doctor's tone was grave. "I'm not trying to meddle, but your physical condition can't be delayed any longer, you know that? Come in for the surgery right away!"
At that moment, a cold, mocking laugh came from nearby. "Who are you talking to?"
Victoria's body trembled violently.
Martin's pupils suddenly contracted. Was he a monster? She was this afraid of him!
Victoria looked up to see him approaching with a dark expression. She quickly hung up the phone and explained, "The doctor is urging me to come in for the abortion."
"Is it the doctor urging you, or do you just not want this child? You know the truth!" Martin stood with one hand in his pocket, glancing at her with a cold laugh.
Victoria bit her lip. "What do you mean by that?"
"What do I mean? Don't you know? Victoria, stop acting. If you're not tired of performing, I'm tired of watching!" Martin glanced at her coldly and turned to leave.
Victoria blocked his way. "Make yourself clear. What am I acting about?"
"Your medical report is out!"
"Martin, you've seen my medical report, and you're still treating me like this? Can't you be a little nicer to me before I die?" Victoria gave a mocking laugh.
Martin pulled out his phone and sent the electronic medical report to her phone.
She clicked it open and stared in shock. She clearly had late-stage liver cancer, so why did the report show there was nothing wrong with her body?
The report even showed that her body was very suitable for pregnancy!
"Martin, there's something wrong with this report! Let's go to another hospital for a recheck!"
"Victoria, I don't have time to play these boring games with you. I'll say it again - instead of wasting time on lies and tricks, think about how to have this child and please me. Maybe I'll give you more of what you want." Clearly, Martin had completely stopped believing her, his eyes showing exhaustion and annoyance.
Martin turned to leave.
Victoria gripped her phone tightly, staring at his tall figure in a suit, and shouted. "But I'm going to die! Martin, what do I have to do, what do I have to say for you to believe me! This child can't be born. We'll both die!"
"You deserve to die anyway, don't you?" Martin thought she was acting and started speaking without thinking.
Victoria clenched her fists. "Martin!"
"After you have this child, you can die wherever you want, I won't stop you! But if you dare hurt my child, Victoria, I'll make your father and the entire Gonzalez family pay with their lives!"
"Martin, you want me dead that badly? You can't wait for me to die, can you? Every extra day I live makes you uncomfortable, doesn't it?" Victoria's tears streamed down wildly as she questioned him through gritted teeth.
When Martin saw her crying, his first instinct was to walk over and wipe her tears.
But Victoria was too bold - to get a divorce, she even made up a story about having a terminal illness, and acted so convincingly that he almost fell for it!
He couldn't be nice to her, or she'd push for more!
She was his enemy's daughter. He should torment her, not pity her or feel sorry for her!
Thinking this, Martin suddenly smiled. "The coffin's already prepared for you. What do you think?"
Right, Victoria, the coffin's already prepared.
What are you still hoping for?
Victoria was so angry at Martin that her voice became hoarse, her whole body trembling, tears falling from her eyes. She wiped her tears - this was the man she'd loved for so many years!
This was the ungrateful wolf she'd loved for so many years.
"In your dreams! Even if I die, I won't have this child!"
"Victoria, those are your words. Don't regret it!" Martin gave a cold smile and turned decisively, going downstairs.
As soon as he walked out of the apartment, he saw Kaida returning. Kaida greeted him respectfully, and he instructed with a cold face. "Mrs. Collins must have proper nutrition for all three meals."
"Yes."
"Don't let her go out during this time. She can only move around within the apartment. You need to stay with her at all times. Also, collect all the sharp knives and tools in the house." Martin frowned as he gave the instructions, thinking of Victoria's fierce temperament.
She had already slit her wrists once before. This time, no matter what, he couldn't give her another chance.
Having Kaida stay with her constantly was the only way he could feel at ease.
Kaida couldn't really judge this behavior. Wasn't this surveillance?
But working in her employer's home, she couldn't get involved in such matters, so she could only nod in agreement.
Martin walked to the black Bentley parked by the roadside, opened it, and sat in the driver's seat.
He smoked a cigarette, forcibly suppressing the anger in his heart.
Having Victoria pregnant, he had his own selfish reasons.
They say a woman's attachment is to her child. Once she had her own child, Victoria would go back to how she used to be with him.
They would try to let go of their hatred because of the child.
Martin didn't know why, but lately he'd been missing the old days more and more.
So Victoria's hatred for him now was temporary. He was thinking about their future.
Martin took a private jet back to Skylake Village and visited his parents' graves on a drizzly afternoon.
He placed the daisies he was holding in front of the tombstone.
Caressing the smiling black and white photos of his parents.
His heart was conflicted.
"Dad, Mom, Victoria's pregnant. You're going to have a grandchild. Will you be happy to hear this news from heaven?" Martin looked at their photos wearily. "I don't want revenge anymore. I'm so tired, so tired."
"Revenge isn't joyful at all. Hayden has already gotten what he deserved, paralyzed in bed, his life hanging in the balance. I've taken over the Gonzalez family too. The entire Gonzalez family has to depend on me to survive. Dad, Mom, you'll understand me, won't you? From now on, Martin wants to live a good life, wants to live an ordinary, loving life with the girl he likes."
"Dad, Mom, please bless Victoria from heaven. She's innocent, she hasn't done anything wrong. Bless the child in her belly to be born safely and smoothly. Bless our family of three to return to how we were before."
"I've schemed and calculated against everyone, except I never calculated that I would fall completely and utterly in love with my enemy's daughter."
The apartment.
Victoria discovered that Kaida had taken away the scissors, kitchen knives, and even the nail clippers from the house.
When she went downstairs to get a glass of water, Kaida followed closely. Several burly bodyguards stood at the apartment entrance.
Only then did she belatedly realize - she was under house arrest!
