Chapter 9: President Of AH Pictures

In the conference hall, the crowd fell silent, their ears perking up in high alert when they caught the first few two letters of the name.

However, Ezekiel suddenly stopped and leaned away from the mic.

Then, without another word, began heading out back.

At this, the reporters chased after him, but were held back by his security.

Left with no choice, they began screaming names after him, “Amanda? Amelia? Amara? Amber? Wh-which is it?”

Ezekiel didn’t stop to respond until he was out of sight.

But his words were more than enough for the hungry media to savor.

Completely forgetting what the conference was about, every news outlet hungry for visibility rushed to publish something about Ezekiel Kent’s wife and what her name could possibly be.

Within hours, everyone who knew about Ezekiel had heard.

Smile Entertainment held a quarterly mixer every year, so although the next one was still two months away, people had already begun preparing gifts for the new couple.

Seeing the news, they began changing their gifts.

Previously, it was nearly impossible to get on Ezekiel’s good side, but this press conference showed he hadn’t married her out of obligation.

Thus, getting her a pleasing gift meant getting him a pleasing gift, and getting him a pleasing gift meant getting on his good side.

Parked in front of the marriage registry, Aaron Foster logged out of the live press conference.

Sabrina had assured him of a partnership with Smile Entertainment, so he knew he’d come into money soon.

With that in mind, he called his assistant, telling her to start looking for something a wealthy woman like that would want.

Afterward, he stepped out of his car and headed into the marriage registry building.

He got to a door and knocked once on it before pushing it open.

As soon as he stepped in, the young man behind the desk looked up and slowly began to adjust his tie when he saw who it was.

Engraved on the nameplate on his desk was the name Cole White.

Rolling his chair closer to the desk, he flashed Aaron a small smile, “You’re here, Mr. Foster.”

Aaron hummed before taking his seat, then watched him shuffle through a few files before pulling one out.

“Just like you asked, I made sure your ex-wife didn’t receive anything from the divorce. However, she did make a correction before signing.”

Aaron’s brows knitted into a frown. “What correction?”

Handing him the file, Cole mummed, “Page eleven.”

Taking it, Aaron flipped through the document until he reached the page.

“After the divorce, both parties should respect the terms and conditions of this agreement and never come in contact with each other again. From now on, they are strangers to each other.” He read out with a straight face, but his eyes darkened.

Tsk.

Other people at least tried to get money from the divorce, but a wretched soul like her was trying to take the high road?

She must have thought he’d be so shocked by the clause that he’d come to ask why she added such.

How ridiculous. As if he’d ever want to see someone like her again.

As he fumed inwardly, he gritted his teeth at the realization that she was the one severing their ties, not him.

Whatever.

It had no effect on him in any way.

Tossing the document back to Cole, he leaned back in his seat and asked, “What about the inheritance? I was married to her for three years, so I qualify for it now.”

“Generally, yes. But the reading of the will isn’t until three months’ time.”

Aaron bit his lower lip and began tapping the armrest with his fingers as Cole continued.

“The divorce, on the other hand, has been finalized. Like you requested, I made sure her name wouldn’t appear anywhere as someone you were ever married to.”

“If there’s anything tying you two together like a photo, then I highly suggest you get rid of it.”

Aaron thinned his lips.

Everything was under control. Once his inheritance came through and his partnership with Smile Entertainment was finalized, he’d live life to the fullest and strive to get to the top.

Satisfied that things were finally working out, he got up and left the office.

As soon as he stepped out, he couldn’t help overhearing the conversation going on between two staffs in front of him.

“It was late, but I’m telling you, it was Ezekiel Kent and his wife here yesterday. I just wasn’t sure of it.”

“Are you saying they got married last night?”

“What else could they have been doing here then?”

“Hey, you said the woman with him wasn’t blonde. That alone makes me think you don’t know what you saw.”

“I know how it sounds, but I’m telling you…”

Aaron instantly lost interest hearing the said woman wasn’t a blonde and hurriedly walked past them.

He went straight to his car and headed to the office.

He arrived at his production house and was informed that Greta was waiting to see him in his office.

As soon as he walked in, she got on her feet and began complaining bitterly, “Brother, no matter what happens, don’t let that sly little thing weasel her way into your heart again.”

“Today, Sabrina and I saw her come into the clothing store with a man we didn’t recognize.”

“That shameless thing, even though she hooked up with someone else so soon, still dared to follow us all the way to the store hoping to see you. Just thinking about how she treated us earlier makes my blood boil!”

Aaron’s stoic expression cracked slightly, his cheeks drawing back into an amused smile.

Thinking of the same Amber who couldn’t even get a job with her high school certificate made him laugh.

Someone who couldn’t even find a job to hold down… what kind of man could she possibly have found so soon after their divorce?

Whatever the case, he was certain that lovesick fool was just trying get his attention.

He had better things to do to bother with someone so predictable.

However, he didn’t interrupt Greta and simply waited her to finish before asking, “Greta, you’re signed under AH Pictures, is it possible you’ve heard something about its President?”

Greta stopped talking and scratched her chin thoughtfully for a moment before nodding.

“Uh, yeah. The MD’s assistant is a blabbermouth but he told us the MD has been in contact with the President for a while now.”

Aaron slowly leaned back, a thoughtful look fleeting through his eyes.

AH Pictures was quietly growing even with their lack of a President.

If its President finally assumed position, there was no doubt it’d only take a few years to begin competing with companies like Smile Entertainment if whoever was on top had a good foresight.

But whatever was the case, he reasoned it was the perfect chance to solidify his position in the industry.

Thus, after deliberating for a moment, he had Greta head to the company to get the President’s contact information.

Meanwhile, Amber arrived in front of a gigantic, glass building riding on a bicycle.

Lifting her eyes to stare at the bland font used to write ‘AH Pictures’ on the top of the building, she grimaced.

Such ugly writing.

“Amber, are you still there? Tell me you’re still there. No way you muted me.”

Thinking of a better font, she trailed off in thought until the frustrated voice of a certain man blared out of the phone dangling from her hand.

“It’s as I told you. Once I discuss the inconsistencies in the lease agreements with the MD, I’ll be on...”

She abruptly trailed off and hurriedly stepped to the side when some cars suddenly drove toward her in in a frenzy.

They were about six of them and neither paid her any heed despite almost running into her.

Frowning, she parted her lips to call them back when one of the artists yelled loudly as he hurried toward the building, “Hurry! Greta called to say the President is in the lounge with the MD right now!”
