Ethan's POV
In less than a few hours, my plan worked. Olivia took the bait. I was right, Olivia indeed had more spies in my house and they immediately went to tell her everything I had said.
Olivia probably got agitated and evaded her previous hiding spot, but that was the one thing in her plan she did wrong.
Right now, I was standing outside her new hiding spot with Mark and Detective Williams.
After I told Mark my real plan, he insisted we involve the police, just to make sure that Rachel's name was completely cleared.
She was in an abandoned building owned by the Sangria's a few miles away from town and figured, of course, she'd use an abandoned house.
"Are we sure she's in there?" Detective Williams asked, bringing out his gun from his pocket and steading it in his hands.
Yup, I was sure. I nodded. The main reason is that I had her trailed by John. I had John fixed at the outskirts of town because I knew Olivia wouldn't dare stay here anymore if she thought I was coming for her. He spotted her car, trialed her here, and then informed me. I, in turn, informed Mark, who brought the detective, and now we were here.
After staring at the house for another few minutes, I gave the signal for both men to proceed into the house with caution.
Olivia was as dangerous as dangerous could get; it wouldn't surprise me that she was already prepared for our coming.
Mark went forward and opened the door, then the detective got in and then me. I narrowed my eyes in the dark room, my grip on my gun getting stronger.
I had faced situations like this countless times back when I was still in the army, so situations like this don't faze me anymore; all I wished right now was that my nephew would be unharmed.
If Rachel saw me right now, would she be shocked? I thought as we navigated our way into the house.
Just the thought of that made me remember what I found out a few days ago.
David, that blasted ex of her's hired someone to investigate me, at least he tried to, but as soon as he found out some things, he immediately backed away.
That dude thought he was a match for me, so I allowed his investigator to find out a few things about me, especially my past in the army. Less than twenty-four hours later, David ran out of the country in fear of my wrath.
But there was nowhere he would be able to run to. I was tired of acting nice, it's time to show all this motherfuckers who the real Ethan Wright was.
This was another reason why I wanted Rachel out of sight for now; I couldn't allow her to see the real me; I couldn't bear to scare her away.
"Boss..." I heard Mark's voice from the earphones I was wearing. "We've found her. " He reported.
I smirked turning around towards their location.
"You dimwit child, you caused all of these!" I heard Olivia's loud voice as I got closer to where the others were. Both Mark and the detective were leaning on a wall and right next to it was a door.
Mark glanced at me and then at the door. " Here..." I nodded in understanding and then narrowed my eyes towards the door.
" If you hadn't said anything a few months ago on the stage, Rachel would be dead by now! Lana wouldn't even dare to think of taking Ethan away from me, and you would be with your mother right now!" Olivia's voice boomed, her voice giving off an extremely angry and frustrated tone.
She was definitely talking to Jake, which meant he was still alive.
I released a sigh of relief holding my hand to my chest.
' Thankfully '
Detective Williams attempted to barge the door open, but I held out my hand to stop him.
"Take out the recorder..." I ordered the detective, whose eyes first widened in surprise, but then he understood and brought it out.
"But no, you just had to come back for her and then she survived. Why, why would you do that to me? " Now she sounded as if she was about to cry.
" You want to kill an innocent woman just because of my uncle? What type of a person are you?"
Mark's eyes widened, and he looked at me. "Jake ". We both said at the same time.
He could still talk back, good. That meant he was seriously injured.
"Should we go in now?" Detective Williams asked darting between the door and me.
I shook my head. "Not now. " I said curtly.
"... I am in love with your uncle! I've been ever since I met him, but then Rachel appears all of a sudden and your uncle is head over heels for her? Really what about me?! "
I held my hand out in a fist for just a few more moments.
" Then take it up with my uncle and leave Rachel alone. She hasn't done anything to deserve any of this. " I heard Jake's tiny yet bold voice say back.
Then suddenly Olivia's malicious laughter boomed across the room. " That's the exact same thing your mother said. " She paused for a second, and Mark glanced at me.
" Just wait a few seconds more. " I answered him before returning my gaze to the door.
"...You know what, you can help me. " She continued.
" Tell your uncle he ought to love me and not anyone else; if you do, I'll let you go. I'm the best person to be with your uncle, not Rachel, not anyone else... "
" Keep telling yourself that. "
" You little... ".
" Now! " I commanded, and immediately, Mark kicked the door to the room open, and we got in.
I meant a pretty disgusting scene.
It wasn't exactly a room with a bed and table as I expected. Instead, it was more like a torture room, one with only two chairs and a lot of torturing instruments.
Jake was tied up on one of the chairs, and Olivia... Olivia had her hand raised, as if about to strike him.
" Ethan... "
" Uncle... "
Both said at the same time.
"Hands up, police". Detective Williams said, pointing his gun at Olivia, who had a look of shock on her face as she slowly raised her hands over her head.
Her lips trembled as she shook her head. "Ethan... T... This... It's not what you think".
" My uncle isn't blind neither is he dumb to not know what this is. " Jake remarked with a smirk.
I turned towards him. His cute, flawless face was covered in bruises, and there was a bright red mark on his cheeks, indicating that he had been slapped a lot.
Yet he still had the guts to talk back at Olivia? I smirked raising my brow at him.
He reminded me of Rachel a lot.
" Ethan please, I... I can explain". Olivia cried, her pretty face turning ugly.
I snorted in disgust before turning away from her and towards Detective Williams. "Take her out. "
I couldn't bear to see her face any longer, if not, I doubt I could resist the urge to just strangle her with my own hands.
The detective nodded, putting away his gun to the back of his pants as he walked closer towards Olivia who was shaking her head.
"No Ethan, y... You can do this to me. ". She screamed, her ugly face turning even more uglier. I ignored her and walked towards Jake to untie the kid.
"No, No! " Olivia yelled as she suddenly reached backward, surprising the detective,, and grabbed a gun which was just behind her, instantly firing two loud shots.
"Uncle!"
