Chapter 15 A Three Million Dollar Deal
Henry's brow slightly furrowed, and glanced sideways at Grace across from him without speaking.
She just gave a faint smile, picked up the violin beside her, and got up to leave. "Mr. Montague, don't forget the three million dollars."
There was not a trace of emotion in her tone.
Henry turned his head to look at her, who was leaving resolutely, and felt a strange sensation in his heart.
She really had changed.
She no longer cared about anything related to Henry, she only cared about benefits.
In no time, she received Three million dollars. Looking at the balance on her phone, Grace felt satisfied at that moment.
This was the first time she had gained something from Henry. The ridiculous thing was, this three million dollars was still obtained in Mrs. Montague's name.
The road ahead was long, but she believed she would succeed. She wanted people to think of her as a famous violinist first, not Mrs. Montague.
The sky was slightly bright, in the VIP ward of Serenity General Hospital.
Henry leaned on the sofa, scrolling through his phone. Since Grace received his money, she hadn't sent any messages.
In his impression, Grace should have sent many messages, right?
In the past three years, even without his contact information, she would pester Celeste every day to call him. Afraid that he would be seduced by other women outside.
But now, the silent chat box annoyed him.
At this moment, Celeste walked in, and Henry pinched his brow, "How's it going?"
Celeste first glanced at Elodie, who was lying on the hospital bed basking in the sunlight, "Mr. Montague, everything has been taken care of. Not a single word of the scandal that shouldn't appear will be spread."
Henry responded with a hum and looked up at Elodie, "Do you have anything to explain?"
Elodie quickly explained, seeing the slightly questioning look in Henry's eyes, "I'm sorry, Mr. Montague, for causing you trouble. My mom thought we were in a relationship, so she acted that way."
Henry didn't speak, but his eyes constantly revealed a sense of danger.
Celeste understood, "Miss Williams, Mr. Montague is already married. How you could become the mistress of the Montague family, or do you think you can compare to Grace?"
"Not to mention your broken leg, even your family background is ordinary Mr. Montague's care for you is nothing but charity. You'd better know your place."
What Celeste said undoubtedly touched the deepest pain points in Elodie's heart.
But Celeste was indifferent. Elodie, a mere divorcee still wanted to become Henry's wife?
Although she had been nice to Elodie, a two-faced person trying to test Henry's attitude, she, as his secretary, didn't have a chance, and yet Elodie had such thoughts?
Her tone was sharp. Henry glanced at her, and she knew when to stop.
Elodie, however, looked pitiful, on the verge of tears, "Celeste, I never thought I could be fortunate enough to gain Mr. Montague's affection. I am grateful for Mr. Montague's kindness to my family. It was unintentional when I woke Mr. Montague back then."
"I just want to heal my leg and learn from Gavin. I have no other desires. Celeste, could you have misunderstood me?"
Celeste didn't expect Elodie to be so eloquent, forcing her with just a few words.
She was so angry she wanted to strangle Elodie.
She used to always speak well of her in front of Henry, but now, compared to Elodie, she preferred to stand by Grace's side.
Indeed, the beating from Elodie's ex-husband was not in vain. Why didn't he beat her to death?
But she was more curious about Henry's attitude.
Henry's attitude was beyond everyone's expectations. Already annoyed by yesterday's incident with Grace, he felt even more irritated now.
He looked up at Elodie's pale face, "Miss Williams, I won't hold today's events against you for long, but I don't want to hear any more rumors about us online. Otherwise, I won't hesitate to shut your parents up."
His tone was cold and left no room for doubt.
Elodie found it harsh, but she held back.
Elodie's parents quickly nodded. None of them had expected that Henry, who had taken care of Elodie for many days, would be so furious because of this.
It wasn't like this before.
"Okay, Mr. Montague, I misunderstood this time. I'm sorry." Elodie's mom said, nodding and bowing.
Celeste found it amusing. Just by looking at their attitude, she thought of Nathan and Clara.
They were at least from noble families, their every move exuded an aura of superiority.
But now, Elodie's parents, even with their splendid clothes, still looked utterly rustic. And yet, they still dreamed of marrying into the Montague family?
Not to mention Seraphina, even Aurora couldn't tolerate it.
Sure enough, Aurora, who had heard about the rumors, called.
Aurora's tone was very cold, and she only asked Henry to get home!
Henry, with a gloomy face, glanced at Elodie and then turned to leave.
On the way, the air inside the car was so heavy it could drip water.
Henry's tone was questioning, "Why was Elodie transferred to Serenity General Hospital, and in a VIP ward at that?"
It was obvious that someone had made a move.
Celeste felt the suffocating pressure and quickly replied, "Mr. Montague, it's really not my fault. When I arrived, the ambulance had already taken her to Serenity General Hospital. By the way, tomorrow she will have surgery"
Henry gave her a look, "I don't want to hear about such a low-level mistake a second time."
Celeste instantly understood. Tomorrow was Amara's birthday banquet, and naturally, he hadno time.
The rest of the journey was silent.
When Henry arrived at the Montague Group's villa area, as soon as he entered the door, Seraphina came over with a stick.
Her face was very gloomy, "Henry, come here and let me hit you."
Henry felt a headache coming on.
Aurora quickly called for someone to pull Seraphina back, "Mom, don't get angry, it's bad for your health. I'll scold Henry myself."
As she spoke, she picked up the stick and walked towards Henry.
Seeing this, Seraphina finally breathed a sigh of relief and left the hall.
Aurora then threw away the stick, walked to the window, and looked at the garden outside, "Henry, don't you have an explanation for the situation with Elodie?"
Henry pinched his brow, "It was an accident."
He intended to cover for Elodie.
But today, Aurora wouldn't let Henry off, "If you're going to brush me off, at least come up with a good reason."
Henry said helplessly, "I'll handle it, it won't happen again."
Aurora nodded, "Elodie has feelings for you, but she's not worthy of you. She just wants to marry you to live a wealthy life."
She changed the subject, "How's Grace doing? Have you managed to appease her?"
Hearing Grace's name made Henry feel stifled. She didn't want to come home, he had tried many ways to force her, but she just wouldn't come back.
"Yesterday, I gave her three million dollars. She promised to accompany me to the birthday banquet and secure the project." He replied.
Aurora, hearing this, was not angry but rather surprised. She saw the look of defeat on Henry's face.
Although she didn't like Grace, she was indeed the most suitable candidate for hostess of the Montague family.
She was elegant and noble, with an aristocratic background, her grace was undeniable.
"Grace has indeed made a lot of progress. Sure enough, staying by Mr. Montague's side, even a fool would become smart." She turned to look at Henry with a playful and teasing smile in her eyes. "How does it feel to be defeated by your wife for the first time?"
Henry didn't say anything, just turned and left.
Aurora watched his back with interest. She didn't think Grace would last long. She knew Henry best—ruthless and decisive. Whatever he wanted, he would get.
People like them mostly married for benefits, true happiness was not so common.
She tucked a strand of hair behind her ear and, through the window, saw Henry leaving the villa area in a black Bentley.
"Tonight's birthday banquet will be much more interesting."
She called a servant, "When will Gavin return?"
"Next Saturday, he will arrive in Evergreen City." the servant replied.
Aurora nodded, "When Gavin returns, arrange a banquet and instruct Henry to host it."
The servant knew that Aurora intended to introduce Gavin to Elodie, "But Mrs. Montague, Gavin already has a favored student, I'm afraid..."
Aurora tapped her phone screen, "Who could make Gavin travel all the way to Evergreen City to meet in person?"
"Specifically, we don't know. Gavin hasn't made it public, but he did say that this violinist has extremely high talent and the potential to become a music expert."
A hint of surprise flashed in Aurora's eyes, and she immediately thought of Grace, the music prodigy.
Could it be her?
But then she thought, Grace had only played a few pieces, how could she be valued so highly by Gavin, the music maestro?
After a moment, she chuckled, "No matter, it's just a matter of money."
